Just seen the fixture list: At home to Arsenal on the opening day; >tough November, December and February.

What price we're the first Sky game of the season on the 15th? 12:45 kick-off against the Gooners.

So, after the perplexing read of how the fixtures are decided we start with 3 away games, (Arsenal, Man City and Burnley), and a rather difficult Feb, (Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Spurs)! Just a shame that there's still two bloody months to go...

Is it just me or do we get a rough time when it comes to fixtures in the Premier League. Just look at some of the back-to back sequences of games we have in November 2009 and February 2010:

November 2009 for Everton: Man Utd (A), Liverpool (H)....

February 2010 for Everton: Liverpool (A), Chelsea (H), Man Utd (H), Spurs (A)

They are both a tough run of games. Thing is though, the rest of the fixtures are not too bad at the start and the end of the season.

So which do you think is better? The big games evenly spread out or back to back like we seem to be getting.

One positive I can see is that Moyes will instill that siege mentality into the camp during these periods and we could get a few scalps to bring us into the top 4.

Adam, the Gooner game is at Goodison.

Our last 10-11 games are all winnable. So I'm happy with the fixtures. If we go on a great run we could potentially nick 4th spot.

Simon: thanks, I realised just after I submitted the comment... :-/
With regards the the Feb games, (which will no doubt be chopped around by Sky!), will we be missing Yobo, Pienaar, Anichebe and Yakubu to the AFCON??

After the first 2 we have a long run of winnable games up to Villa at home on 31 October. We need to make sure we learn the lessons from last summer and make a strong start if we are to compete with the top 4.

Still got Pienaar for AFCON

I don?t think South Africa qualified, but could be wrong...

OK for the final time Pienaar is not away on AFCON duty as South Africa did not qualify. The last time we had to worry about the AFCON I remember we done reasonably well despite being short of Yak, Yobo, Pienaar. That's what squads are for and hopefully Moyes has a good squad sorted for the coming season. Remember also that he will undoubtedly bring in a loan or two in January to accommodate our losses.

Adam, The Man City game will be put back because we have our Europa League qualification match then. The following week we are exempt from the Carling Cup 2nd round as we have the return leg. Getting a good start is vital and beating Arsenal on the first day could set the tone for the whole season. Can?t wait!

Arsenal at home can be one of two things:

a) an excellent marker to set the season

OR

b) an unmitigated disaster and a display of the gulf in class and spending power between the Top Four and Best of the Rest.

The thing to note is our difficult games seem to be bunched together, a la last January - which didn’t seem to do us much harm..

Looking forward to the new season now - a shame we still have two months as Adam pointed out..

OK, so once again, we have to go all the way to the NE on Boxing Day. There are 8 NW clubs, so why not have all 8 playing each other??!! And yet again, the Shite play at home!! Ridiculous - these fixtures (Boxing Day) are done manually, and I could have done them better.
