Foreign Ownership

Comments (11)

Reading today we've attracted offers from 2 potential buyers, great news, is it? We need this to compete apparently. Compete for what?

The league? Top 4? Top 6? Let's face it, with the amount of multi-billionnaires buying the Premier League clubs, who's to say if we accept this offer, we won't be back down the pecking order in a few years after bigger richer men come in and buy the other clubs? Then the clubs who were at the top, will slip down, and be bought up by even more foreign money, and it will either go on and on, or become so boring it'll fizzle out leaving the Premier League and the game on whole in a right old mess.

It can't last, and it's a fruitless chase. I'd rather see us as we are, yet I'm told I don't want the best for the club, I'm told I'm not ambitious. I don't care. I wish the G8 or whatever it is would form this European Super League and leve the rest of us to get back to playing real sport. This is not football we're watching anymore. It's a game played out among the world's richest. For the sake of the Peoples Club, let's not become another pawn.

I agree. I was talking about this last night with my mate. In the days before Bosman, all the money would stay in the game in the transfer merry go round. Since that though, the money is disappearing from the sport, being siphoned out into the players and agents’ pockets as they benefit from free transfers to push wages up ever further. As a result, clubs are having to pay out more and more in expenses, and so they have to generate money from their main creditors - i.e. us. The clubs themselves now are mainly all skint, and so the only people who would think of buying a football club are the mega-rich who treat them as playthings.
When I was growing up I had a junior Evertonian card which cost £5, and that meant I could get into the ground for between £4 and £6 I think. But nowadays there are generations of kids growing up who can’t afford to go to the match. The game is getting more and more exclusive, it’ll be like Formula 1 soon. All foreign owned and all a load of bollocks. Working man’s game my arse.

Crap.

We bought the league in ’63 and, to a lesser extent, ’70. Noone moaned.

The only difference is the number of noughts behind the buyer.

I have to say i disegree, i can see where you’re coming from but if everyone else around us gets bought up then we’ll be just another mid league club. I’d love to win somthing (anything) without a rich investor, but frankly the chances are slim. If we’re really being honest. Im all for a take over, get us out of debt, (Hopefuly)
rebulid Goodison, and get some strength in depth. Imagine what Mosiah could do with a bit of money.

Any ideas who the far easter offer is?

No blue moaned when we were classed as "The bank of England"...

Money talks in this day and age, you gotta pay the rate or you end up with the Phill Nevilles of the footballing world.... and that is hardly Nil Satis Nisi Optimum....

I say let's get bought bought bought asap...

I’m simply refusing to get excited until our takeover is official, this has occured far too many times for me to believe it 100%.

Nevermind about all that, the bottom line is we need to start competing against the red bastards and without some coin the continual smugness and gloating will continue. One for all and all for one, come on you Blues!

I believe the buyer is a former King of an Arab state whose family are now in political exile. He sent an email to Bill Kenwright saying he needed some help in moving six billion which is deposited in a Swiss account.

We have sent an administration fee of £250,000 and our bank account number so the money can be transferred to Everton.

The Arab King has thanked Bill and said to ’watch this space’ for completion of the deal.

’Up the Blues’ once again.

You are proposing we give up ever competing at the top again? Surely with 6, 7, 8 teams owned by billionaires we have a level playing field again?
After the first billion is spent money is less relevant - it comes down to where players want to play rather than who pays the most?

I couldn’t care less. As long as Billy Liar is in charge we are fucked! Bring on the ability to complete with well even the likes of Wigan!
