We need more Amo

I was just watching a documentary on Eurosport about Amokachi and it reminded me of our greatest recent players attributes. Amo won us the FA cup in 1995. It was the last trophy the club won with his 2 goals against Spurs after which the final was a formality due to Royles hoodoo over Utd. With increasing speculation that Moyes may hang up his gloves and retire I realised that Amotaxi would be the best man to carry us to success.
We have a strong Nigerian contingent at the club and it has worked in the past for Chelsea to have an Italian boss with an Italian spine team and Arsenal with the French so why not the Nigerians with Everton. Clearly Amo is still an Everton fan or else he wouldn't have chosen Duncan Ferguson to be his best man. An ideal scenario would be Amo with new owners being the Nigerians who courted Newcastle.

WTF; either you just escaped from the cuckoos nest or your overdosing,
Nice to see some humour in amongst the doom and gloom. I mean, that *was* a joke right?!
Nice one Anthony what about Barlow and Angell as manager and coach the complete dream team
Erm...Amo a great player??? I seem to recall that the Spurs semi-final was about the only decent game he played for us...and he was about to be subbed by JR when he scored his first that day.
...but i’d like to see Dunc managing, standing in his technical area, smoking.

@ Sean
Amo came on as a 2nd half sub and is unlikely to have been hauled off (as happened, exceptionally, to Tony Grant in the 89/90 Charity Shield match). As I recall, Amo came within an ace of becoming the first sub to score a hat-trick in an FA Cup semi.
One thing Amo always had, heart and application.

Er, that’s two!
The story was that Rideout was injured, Royle told Amo to warm up. Rideout was ok to carry on but didn?t get chance because Amo had already run on. The final touch on 2 goals in a semi does not mean he won us the cup and certainly does not mean he would be our best manager 11 years later. Ten out of ten for thinking outside the box. But no.
I agree and we could also get alex nyarko as chairman, head of an african consortium, seems like the way forward to me.
Amo - for sure an astute choice, but not the right one. Remember that freaky looking fucker Abel Xavier? He’s Portugese - so he’ll be able to tap up Ronaldo et al - but he’s also able to pass for an African. Being so distinctive looking, and having also played for Liverpool, he’ll be able to help build our media profile as well. What do you think?
I remember him scoring 2 in a 2-0 win over Newcastle in a strangely scheduled Friday night game on Sky. So with the semi that is two good games he had.
I remember that game as well one of the goals came from a superb 50-yard pass from Limpar straight into Amokachi?s path he never had to break stride.
Was it a Good Friday? (actually it was a great Friday!).
He scored in front of the St end and ditched the headbanger celebration in favour of a double pistol right in front of me.
I agree he could be a great manager. If he signed I would be going crazywild for sure.
I think it was Good Friday
Yes, let?s have a Nigerian consortium... maybe it?ll include that Nigerian Prince who has offered to put loads of cash in my bank account as soon as I give him my all my bank details. Seems to be a very nice chap. AND a Prince as well.
(My bird has told me not to be so gullible. She?s very cynical, you know!)
It was a Good Friday & I remember his 1st being a cracker but let's be honest, he was shite.
Anthony Welsh, you’re very quiet... I get the feeling this was a genuine post!
While at the moment, there isn’t a snowballs chance in hell of Amokachi being appointed the next Everton manager... he is though doing his time in working to become a manager...
He is currently the assistant manager of the Nigerian national side who are 5 wins out of 5 games into their World Cup qualifying group.
Obviously not a choice for now, but perhaps one for the future...
