How upset were you this morning?

When the Uefa Cup draw was made and we were the only Englsih team that had failed to qualify from the previous round? I was gutted.

Would love to think that the players were too but I doubt whether they are.

Meanwhile ? surprise, surprise ? another day and nothing on the Moyes contract. Can we still withdraw it?

To be honest, yes the green-eyed monster did appear when I thought of mid-table sides travelling to Milan etc but then I also thought 'thank fuck? because if we had to cope with a non-lucrative set of European games on top of our current form I would be truly scared.

I too am more than a bit pissed off with this contract talk ? one minute it?s with the board then it?s with the lawyers etc etc etc. In my view ? get off the pot, sign it and get on with the job of turning this team around ? or just bugger off if your heart's not in it anymore.

Missing out on games against teams like Milan is a big bummer ? I?d love to see us play in Europe again even if we would (probably) get shafted!

I think now is the time for Kenwright to issue a simple sign or go ultimation as Moyes would not get a better club and in our present state I doubt we would get a better manager.

We were the only team to have qualified for this season's Uefa Cup via league position, but the only team to fail at the first hurdle. Perhaps the only way to qualify for next season is through the back door, a la Man City.

We did get the hardest team to play in Standard Leige. Everyone is gutted but there’s no point of crying over spilt milk. Who would we have played if we had gone through - somehow missed the draw or perhaps, at the time, I felt too gutted to look at it.

We’d probably have struggled against lesser teams so at least we can put it down to the bad luck of the draw and not blame David Moyes tactics or the players’ efforts......

Yeah... Gutted. Loads of good teams in it. Will be interesting to see how Liege and Metallist Kharkiv get on. I wonder how Fellaini felt. Best of luck to Portsmouth and Villa. Roll on Mr Ambani...

Re Moyes’s contract: How does anyone know what the delay is down to? Maybe it’s down to Kenwright?

Of course I regret that we haven’t progressed to the group stages, but I also regret that we weren’t properly prepared for this season.

Liege were a tough draw, and if they do as well as Villarreal did in the CL the year we played them at the same stage, then we will have some cause to curse our luck. As it is we have only a second-hand interest in their and other results as our team gets on with the vital job of putting some points on the board.

Speaking of luck - so unfortunate for our dearly beloved neighbours to lose a central defender, having done the dirty on one of their loyal servants and left him out of the CL squad. Mind you, if I were a gambling man I’d put money on them getting the rules changed at this late stage so that he can be included. None of our business of course, but you have to find something to make you smile, don’t you.

This Cup is a farce anyway! In the CL, the top 1 or 2 teams (depending on which country of course) qualify straight through to the group stages, which is fair. The other teams that finished in lower CL places play in knock-outs to get to the group stages; again fair enough.

Can anyone then explain to me why is it that we, who finished 5th, as with teams from other leagues who just missed out on CL places too, get the likes of City who come through the back door and yet we ?all? play in knock-outs and don't go directly into the group stages instead?

And let's not forget the ?prize money?, or lack-of, that brings no financial rewards in a very gruelling schedule. Seems very unjust and flawed to me?

Don't get me wrong, I?m not whinging just because we?re out (& deservedly so) but just stating the obvious & the logical side of things. Let's see if this new ?Europa Cup? is an improvement to the current one.
