What's the point of the match tomorrow?

Comments (35)

Just wondered why we are even bothering in playing the game tomorrow. We always lose against the Big 4 and tomorrow will be no different. Just a case of how many we let in; at least it's not on telly.

Sorry for being negative but that's how I feel about that team at the moment.

It is a sad indictment of what football has become. And it signals unfortunately the final success of those who have been spouting the money mantra as the excuse for Moyes's failure to challenge the top teams. Moyes never used to believe it and was prepared to fight against anyone. But in recent times he has effectively been frozen in awe and thrown in the towel when playing against any of the Sky 4, as amply demonstrated only too well in the last Goodison derby. But playing the games is a requirement of being in this crazy Premier League...

Probably because I presume the FA will fine us and dock further points if we don’t turn up!

Isn?t the best option to go gung-ho, 4-3-3, with Vaughan, Yak and Saha up top? Ask the players to go out at furious pace, and if they have, lump it up long to the 3 strikers for knock downs (rather than lumping it up long when poor Yak is on his own).

I would, there is nothing to lose.

I expect 4-5-1 to be fielded though...

The game is being shown live here in the States on the Fox Channel.

It would be nice if we won (for a change).

Pull yourself together man!

Since you live in London you have no option but to get down there and and give everything you have in support of this great club of ours.

This is what happens with Everton, remember the Gordon Lee years, the Mike Walker year, the desperate lows of Walter Smith and the latter times with Howard Kendall.

Things come good for a bit, just a bit, then fade away again. It's the Everton way. Get down there and invoke the spirit of 66, 70, 84, 85, 87, 95 and go home sad, sad but hoarse. Then feel that you?ve done a bit, just a little bit.

Over the top lads.... aaaaargh!!!

Well I?m certainly looking forward to watching it (on TV).... I know it may be a long shot, but we played one of our very few decent passing games against them last year. I?ve a glimmer of hope that, if Neville doesn't play midfield, then we could just give them a match.

COYB.

ps: It's on Serbian TV if anyone's interested.

The point is it gives us an opportunity to get three points.
Wave the white flag somewhere else; my money's down on a blues win.

What a stupid thing to say! You sound like one of them moaning bitch men on X-Factor who cry at any given oppotunity! Don't be such a wimp! Do you think the Hull fans were throwing their toys out the pram before they played them the other week? Saying "Oh no, what's the point in going!" No, they were probably right up for it! Like we should be! I'm going and I can't wait! And, win or lose, I?ll be at Goodison for the Man Utd game next; and, win or lose, there I'll be at the Bolton game........ etc etc. Just get on with it or sod off!

Win lose or draw it?s all entertainment.

The whole point of being in the Premier League is to play, challenge, learn from and hopefully beat the best. Giving up is a pussy?s game!

Enjoy the match and stand by your team!

Moyes will do his usual shitbag tactics 4-5-1, with that arsehole Neville at centre-mid; when ? and only when ? we concede he will then dither about geting a sub on for ten minutes whilst we concede another goal.

Hibbert will get raped at right back, Ossie will try but ultimately get caught in possesion and muscled off the ball, Arteta will go Awol and do his usual put both arms up in the air and then fail to beat the first man with his pathetic corners. Only positive will be Pienaar.

And then Neville will issue another rallying cry in the week about how we need to make Goodison a fortress etc etc. Moyes will take his enormous salary and do the same next week against Utd.

The best we can hope for tomorrow is maybe two shots on target, it's been that bad for too many years with Everton away against the top four clubs.

Moyes will not have the courage to go for broke like Hull did because, despite him being here more than six years, the one thing that has not changed is Moyes being more scared of losing than wanting to try and go for a win in a game that we are not expected to win.

It's a sad indictement of what was once a big force in English football that we know the night before we travel to a big four venue, it's just a case of every man back and try for a couple of shots at goal at best (in fairness its every man back for corner kicks at home to the bottom club under Moyes).

I would love it if we shocked either Arsenal or Manchester United next week for that matter but the truth is we just do not win these games and we know that we are more than likely going to be facing Bolton and Fulham in potential pre-Christmas six pointers for relegation... Failure to win either of them and we will be looking over our shoulder for sure.

Come on people, no team has or ever will be unbeatable and you never start a game a goal down no matter who the opposition is and they can only have 11 players on the pitch at a time. Arsenal have looked shaky this season and they may well turn us over tommorrow but let's not be beaten before we turn up. Have a little faith.

I can see the critics of Osman, Neville + the Jag being happy tommorow ? all doubtful:

Howard

Hibbert
Lescot
Rodwell
Valente

Pienarr
Arteta
Fellaini
Baines

Yak
Saha/Vaughan

This is a bogey fixture for the Blues. Whilst the Gunners have injuries it doesn?t matter. They have the reserves and Everton don?t measure up. Our lightweight midfield depends so much on a great game from Arteta and even then we will be lucky to snatch a draw. However, the law of averages sometimes comes around and this might just be that time.

Well, with so many players unavailable we can hardly expect to get much but if they play to orders and keep it very tight, the Yak might just get on the end of a clearance and nick one. Discipline will be the watchword but I?m sure Davey will have a battle plan to outsmart the Frenchman. COYB, Our season starts here!

Ya never know, somebody might slip Moyesie some speed, and, feeling suitably indestructible for a couple of hours, he may just send out a 4-3-3.

Arsene Wenger is too good a manager to allow Arsenal any repeat of their performance against Hull. Therefore, we can expect Arsenal to be 100% focused. David Moyes has two options:

Damage limitation with Phil Neville in midfield. Or 4-4-2 with James Vaughan playing alongside the Yak and with Neville at right back.

Arsenal are by no means unbeatable, even at their best. I believe that David Moyes would settle for a point right now and therein is the reason for poor performances against the Sky four. Barring injury, we all know what our lineup will be.

Alan Codd and Tommy from the Windy are spot on. I will bet anyone now that we go out with the same old shit formation 4-5-1 with Moyes's bum boy Neville in midfield. We don?t have a shot on target all game, we get battered, then we have to put up with Neville's shite in the Echo and Daily Post on Monday telling us his usual bullshit, then going on how we will give Man U a game, only for the prick to either score an own goal or stop the ref from booking a United player. Fuck, I've just depressed myself, I was going to stay up and watch it, but I'm having second thoughts now ? it?s a waste of a good night's sleep.

---Yakubu ------- Saha ------- Vaughan

Baines---Lescott---Jagielka--Hibbert

Is Neville back in the fold? if so guess he’ll be at right back then.

SUBS : Valente, Rodwell, Baxter ....

Have we got enough to fill the bench?
