AJ

Just wondering what peoples reaction to AJ will be at the weekend? I saw us give Simon Davies a pleasant round of applause last year at home v Fulham, but that's very easy to do when you know that they were shite and aren't going to do much in the game.

I think AJ probably crafted himself a move a little this summer, but in the most part he's kept shtum ever since, bar a minor sideways dig at the way Moyes sets us up to play hoofball. I think AJ enjoyed his time with us in the most part and was respectful to the fans. He gave us one of the best memories in recent times scoring twice vs Liverpool!

Perhaps most prominently in my mind though, I hope we give him a good reception so he doesn't get his back up at the weekend. He looked in good nick last night, and don't you just hate it when ex-blues score against us.......

I believe that the London press ruined his career at Everton, he was here five minutes and suddenly he was a diver. His application and endevour cannot be faulted even if his control often let him down.

AJ did ok but not as well as we’d all hoped but was this down to him or DM’s liking for hard-working players rather than specialists.

I personally will give a warm welcome!

He will get a warm round of applause from me and I will be putting a tenner on him for first goal, as it is a fooking knapp he will get a pen and score.

AJ is a confidence player, when things are not going too good for him he hides... Give him lots of shit, fuck the warm welcomes. Applaud him at the end when we?ve won the game

Let?s all be honest, for once. AJ WAS a diver and we all knew it from day one! Now he?s gone we can forget all the pretence.

I wouldnt say he was a diver, but I would say he was shit, as was Beattie.

Some people say that Moyes?s style of play ruined these two strikers, but I don't think anyone's style of play makes you balloon every shot over the crossbar or straight at the keeper's legs. Traits of messrs Beattie and Johnson respectively.

Diver? You bet... Oh sorry, he would draw in the tackle hmmm... cut it out largely at Everton though, we don’t do that sort of thing... ArtCOUGHeta, yakCOUGHubu

Anything other than a warm welcome for AJ would be giving him a disservice.

’...bar a minor sideways dig at the way Moyes...’

C’mon Gareth, there were at least two occasions in the national media that he tried to justify his poor goal return on DM’s tactics!

Many of us saw him enough times playing in his ’favoured position’ up front on this own, and he couldn’t even trap or control a ball to keep it within a yard of his foot, or find a blue shirt to off-load. When Yak came, it was no contest!

AJ was a steady striker who had his moments, but never reached his potential. I also think he partly engineered his departure (although our glorious board did their bit too!) If he had kept a dignified silence, I’d be wishing him all the best in Fulham career - but the fact he didn’t meant he disrespected our club...and for that, it would be a disservice to give him a warm welcome when he returns to Goodison. I reserve my applause for returning players who are real blue heroes, not whining also-rans!

He gave his best for Everton and left because he wanted first team football. It sounds fair enough to me, at least he wanted to get on with his career and didn?t want to settle for a place on the bench or reserves like some people (e.g. VDM). He also scored some memorable winners against the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal!

David, And rightly so! When you have the likes of Jagielka lashing the ball to all four corners of the ground, and expecting somebody, normally AJ, to chase it, what can you expect?

I also agree with Mark that anything but a warm welcome would be a shame. Hopefully this will not happen.

FFS AJ deserves applause, he was a hero to us at the start of his career and he knows Everton is the biggest club he ever played for. Please don't drag our big name down and disregard the club. We are EFC we support our team, we don't abuse our ex-players.

One of my best moments at Goodison ever was when he scored his second and ran away with 2 fingers up to rub them shitheads noses in it. For that alone he got round of applause and a cheer off me.

I think he's always done his best for us... even though it weren't always good enough, I appreciate it anyway.

Big round of applause. Scored two goals in the biggest win over the RS in my 42 years on this planet. In the words of Lou Reid, "A Perfect Day".

He’ll definately be getting a round of applause off me. He hasn’t done anything in my eyes to suggest otherwise.

I was actually quite gutted to see him go.
