Vaughan to Derby

Comments (16)

The Guardian is reporting that James Vaughan is off to Derby County for a three month loan. The OS has yet to confirm this but Andy Hunter usually gets his Everton facts right.

Jo, Yak and Saha all on the field tonight — at the same time!! — and young Victor back sometime not too far off, it make sense to give James the chance to play in a very tough league to make his point. And I hope he makes it.

On the OS a few days ago there were rumours of him going to Middlesborough. He deffinitely needs games and I hope he gets them, stays fit and becomes the player we all hoped he would be four years ago.

Games under his belt, a few goals to boost confidence. Just the tonic. To be fair I think Derby would be a great team for him too, the fanbase is excellent and they will really get behind him. They all still love Leon Osman. Hope they can push Vaughan on a level as they did Leon.

Derby play decent football under Clough too. I normally don't take too much notice when an Everton player goes out on loan, but I will watch with interest how James does.

James Vaughan deserves a break, and a good one this time. The kid had, and I really hope still has, what it takes to make it big.

I posted here some months on how I’d like to see him go to the Dutch or French league for a loan. My thought being he could hone his sharpness and fitness in a more technical environment with slightly less risk to a young body that’s already taken too much. The championship is a bit more rough & tumble than I’d like, but Nigel Clough is the ideal manager if he is to go there.

I wish young James great success. I’ve also a lot of time for Clough jnr and it would be great if he succeeds by helping to recreate the hugely promising player that was James Vaughan.

Alan, with you all the way. I would really really love to see Vaughan fulfil the promise that he showed a few years ago. Hope it is in a blue shirt.

It’s appearing on the BBC website as breaking news that he has joined Derby until January.

I hope he does well. he deserves a break after all the bad luck he’s had.

If and when he goes to Derby County, I wish him well.
James has a great spirit, and loves Everton. and what he really needs is a injury free run.
and hopefully a good lengthy inclusion in the team.
One thing for sure Nigel Clough will be a good tutor, and will give James every opportunity to show, what he is made of.
I will look forward to keeping tabs on Derby’s
results, and the odd time they will be on tv.

I think this is the beginning of the end for Vaughan at Everton.

A career in the lower leagues beckons.

Michael Branch, Danny Cadamarteri, Nick Chadwick & Francis Jeffers have all gone the say way and it wouldn’t surprise me if Vaughan (and Anichebe) soon joins them.

Hope I’m wrong though.

A loan spell at Derby was the making of Leon Osman though.

And he’s gone on to become an Everton regular.

Although most Everton fans don’t rate him and continually bash him.

I completely disagree with putting James Vaughan out on loan to Derby. David Moyes rightly complains his squad is too shallow, but in a season when we are looking at a significant number of European games, he makes it thinner. Yakubui is not back to fitness. God knows when Arteta and Anichebe will be.

If James Vaughan needs match practice play him in the League Cup. Bring him on as a sub, hopefully before injury time as he usually does. Play him in Premiership games that follow European outings. Play him in a deeper role. But handing him over to a club who has no interest in his future seems futile, unless he is being set up for a sale in the next window.

What’s the problem Peter? He has been put straight into the squad for their game on Saturday.

He needs games, which he won’t get at Everton. If by some further piece of bad luck our attackers all get injured, he will be recalled.......after playing week in week out and getting fitter.

Win/Win situation in my eyes

Peter - Yakubu can’t be very far off. He looks leaner, and stronger, than ever. Totally up for getting into the box and doing damage, as the set-up for Jo’s goal showed last night, he puts James Vaughan off the bench.

The move has to be right for the player.

I just hope that Vaughan has the luck that every other player seems to have; the chance to play football and stay injury free. If this happens, I think this move could be a great boost to his confidence and help kick start his career when he returns to Everton. Good luck Vaughany!

Can no-one else see that Moyes clearly doesn’t rate Vaughan? He may be our youngest scorer but that doesn’t make him great or even first team material. 5 min cameos of good play every 3 or 4 months is not good enough at this level.

I feel victor is in the same mould, just not good enough! I may be wrong but I think they are both older than Agbonlahor and he has stepped up to the Premier League plate, our two lads, for one reason or another, have not. They are both Championship players in my honest opinion. Remember that many on this site and others were still clinging to AVDM this time last year!

Like with most of our fans, I hope Vaughan's luck finally changes and he gets a good run and some goals under his belt. I’d love him to be a success at Everton but I just cant see it. As for Victor I see no future as a forward but would like to see him try and re-invent himself as a right midfielder. The move saved Kuyt's career at Liverpool and could see Big Vic doing a similar job for us, pace and power out wide with the need for goals not so great on him.
