Vaughan to Derby
Comments (16)
The Guardian is reporting that James Vaughan is off to Derby County for a three month loan. The OS has yet to confirm this but Andy Hunter usually gets his Everton facts right.
Jo, Yak and Saha all on the field tonight — at the same time!! — and young Victor back sometime not too far off, it make sense to give James the chance to play in a very tough league to make his point. And I hope he makes it.

I posted here some months on how I’d like to see him go to the Dutch or French league for a loan. My thought being he could hone his sharpness and fitness in a more technical environment with slightly less risk to a young body that’s already taken too much. The championship is a bit more rough & tumble than I’d like, but Nigel Clough is the ideal manager if he is to go there.
I wish young James great success. I’ve also a lot of time for Clough jnr and it would be great if he succeeds by helping to recreate the hugely promising player that was James Vaughan.
I hope he does well. he deserves a break after all the bad luck he’s had.
James has a great spirit, and loves Everton. and what he really needs is a injury free run.
and hopefully a good lengthy inclusion in the team.
One thing for sure Nigel Clough will be a good tutor, and will give James every opportunity to show, what he is made of.
I will look forward to keeping tabs on Derby’s
results, and the odd time they will be on tv.
A career in the lower leagues beckons.
Michael Branch, Danny Cadamarteri, Nick Chadwick & Francis Jeffers have all gone the say way and it wouldn’t surprise me if Vaughan (and Anichebe) soon joins them.
Hope I’m wrong though.
And he’s gone on to become an Everton regular.
Although most Everton fans don’t rate him and continually bash him.
If James Vaughan needs match practice play him in the League Cup. Bring him on as a sub, hopefully before injury time as he usually does. Play him in Premiership games that follow European outings. Play him in a deeper role. But handing him over to a club who has no interest in his future seems futile, unless he is being set up for a sale in the next window.
He needs games, which he won’t get at Everton. If by some further piece of bad luck our attackers all get injured, he will be recalled.......after playing week in week out and getting fitter.
Win/Win situation in my eyes
The move has to be right for the player.
I feel victor is in the same mould, just not good enough! I may be wrong but I think they are both older than Agbonlahor and he has stepped up to the Premier League plate, our two lads, for one reason or another, have not. They are both Championship players in my honest opinion. Remember that many on this site and others were still clinging to AVDM this time last year!
