Pienaar voted the best

Comments (10)

"Steven Pienaar was voted Player of the Year at last night's Safa Awards after a fantastic season for both club and country.

The Everton midfielder has been the standout player for Bafana Bafana in a horror year, and has also established himself as a key player for English Premiership side Everton."

I have to admit, Pienaar has been brilliant during the Confeds... and this was in central midfield.

Another standout player that I personally think DM should look at was Mcbeth Sibaya, he players for Russian champions league side Rubin Kazan. This guys is as hard as steel and has played some brilliant games for his club who's Russian champions.

Just one more bargaining chip for the "Pay me more or I am off" footballer of today.

Well looking at the OS him Osman and Nev are not in the squad, so much for the bull we where fed two or three weeks ago about how we expect them ready for Utd and everyone else ready not long after that.

To be honest, Paul, if they're not ready I would sooner they weren’t risked and will be fully ready for Hull or the RS.

I think without doubt that Pienaar has been outstanding for the last year. I really enjoyed watching him in the Confed Cup and as always in the Everton team. I only hope he doesnt leave, because I think him and Mikel in 1 team is amazing.

Ricardo - It’s great seeing a fellow Cape Town boy supporting the Toffees.

Paul, I’m starting to understand why people say Everton always lie to the fans. It’s true, why do they always come out saying that players will be back and weeks and months later they are nowhere near to returning?

And can anyone please explain to me why Cahill, Rodwell, Saha etc are all injury doubts? I wake up every weekend and we seem to have new injuries that seem to just happen over night out of nowhere!

Pienaar is a class act, it's time those stingy bastards upstairs sorted the lad with a new deal as, since he turned down the original offer in August, it's gone awfully quiet.

Anthony, I am sure you know that players train everyday?

And I am sure you also know that they are human beings, that actually get sick like the rest of us?

Dan, there is no need for that condescending attitude is there?

It's obvious Anthony is referring to the ridiculous amount of injures we seem to accrue each week. This subject has been done to death on here recently but you do wonder?

I like Pienaar and he is technically an excellent player and we really need him playing right now.

However, I am beginning to question his committment. He has been out injured for over 7 weeks with a ’knock’. Each week Everton keep saying he faces a late fitness test or you could make it and then the game comes and he’s not around. Why? Is the player himself saying he’s not fit? He could only have had brusing. There is no actual injury being reported,

In his first season, he was out injured for several weeks with a ’mystery illness" and last season he also had a spell on the sidelines without an actual defined injury.

Then there’s his contract, in my opinion he is not going to sign a contract before the World Cup as he wants to put himself in the shop window and get a better deal maybe CL footbal etc.

Before anyone has a go at me. These are my observations in him and my opinion based upon them. They may be wide of the mark but I can’t help questionning his commitment to the club.

And speaking about our friends across the park. I’m watcing them v City at the moment and without ladyboy and Gerrard’s looking distinctly average, any team we put out next week should do it.
