Sick & Tired

Perhaps I am stomping over old ground here but the following statement on the OS has left me seething.....“Steven is the only one who is near coming back. He will hopefully train this week and we’ll take it from there," said the Everton manager.

Were we not told (last week I think) that Phil Neville & Leon Osman were close to being back also? The level of mis-information from our club is utterly frustrating. It seems to me that they have absolutely no regard for the fans whose only wish is to be kept informed on these matters.

We were also told that Steven Pienaar was only going to be out for a couple of weeks and it has been 2 months now... fuckin' sick of this, so I am.

Who cares? It makes no difference, they’ll be back when they’re back.

Have you ever been injured? have you ever been able to put an exact date on when you’ll recover?

Of course not - injuries are never that straightforward so just relax and wait like everyone else has to.

Who cares? I care! But you are right injuries are never straightforward, especially not at Everton anyway. Other clubs always seem to give a more reliable estimate of when an injured player will return except for Everton.

Remember Saha last November when he got injured with the Yak and Everton come out saying he should be back before Christmas and he never came back until about March. Anichebe was meant to be back for the end of last season where is he? Pienaar had a chance of playing the following week after his injury apparently? Why does this club lie to us time after time. Are the physios and manager really that incompetent?

A quote from our infamous Basil rathbone on Oct 7th:

"Basil says: "Steven got headbutted on the inside of the knee against Portsmouth and it was just unfortunate it caught him right on the medial ligament. He can use the exercise bike but it is pretty sore. I would though expect him to be there or thereabouts for the Wolves game."

Nearly 7 weeks later — he might return against Liverpool !

The communications are absolutely pathetic.

This really is not the biggest issue right now. I don’t spend any time perusing the injury schedules of other clubs to compare, nor do I actually give a toss. Heavy injuries involving knees are a little more indeterminate than a broken toe.

The uncertainty regarding the return of certain players may be a sign of incompetence, or disinterest, or just the nature of the injury. Our injury situation remains shocking, despite some people suggesting that we’re only somehow missing 2 players.

Things are clearly dispirited at planet Goodison right now. Moyes is dejected and, it pains me to say, close to clueless on how to get the best out of what he has. It would be a surprise, given that hes the manager, if this sense hasn’t spread amongst squad and everyone else. Results & performances have just served to darken the mood.

Right now, Moyes shows he has has neither the innovation, the inspiration, nor the motivation to respond to our situation. His stubborness in persevering with players and combinations that don’t work results in wasted opportunities.

Rather than play Cahill out of position, out of form (for us) and out of ideas, he could try an alternative (Wallace, Peterlin). Even better, he could try an alternative formation to get the best out of what he has, more narrow as some teams play. But the notion just seems about as impossible as the idea of playing with 2 joined up forwards to ask more questions of the opposition, rather than inviting them to walk over us.

The club is demoralised and the team is dejected, confused, disjointed and afraid. He dragged us out of the bin 7 years ago and gave us back our dignity. Times change. Sadly, the most dignified thing David Moyes could now do is move over for another man with new positive ideas for getting the best out of a good squad of players.

What I found interesting was that Sunderland had the spine of their team missing in Gordon, Turner, Cattermole and Jones, but showed enough passion and fight to turn Arsenal over. They deservedly beat the redshite and should have beat the mancs at old Trafford as well, how come they can go out and have - a - go at the so called top 4, but we can’t?

Get some deep heat on the lot of them and throw them in.

What happened to the days of players playing on after breaking feet/arms etc?

David Beckham seems to have injections all the time to play through the pain barrier. No, I’m afraid when things are not going too well players do not want to know. Obvious exceptions aside-Jags etc

My 84 year old Nan walked round London for three days on a severly broken foot after tripping over. Didn’t complain once and we only found out by chance the next day when she went the doctors for something unrelated.

Yeah but just how creative is your Nan? Can she play in a variety of positions and spot a pass at the drop of the hat? Is she available in January?

I’ll have a word. Get me Nan in on a free in January. She was a cracking right full back in her day so I’m told. She was called ’the bomb’ apprently cos she used to bomb down the wings. Moyes prob play her out of position. She won’t like that and will prob give him a piece of her mind.

Well said Brian Waring. Other teams have injuries too but we are the only ones who will use it as an excuse to cover up insipid football, Yet another meek surrender to a top 4 side had nothing to do with our injuries and all to do with our Manager's tactics.

We have not had these injuries for the last 3 years so can't cover up his tactics of not attacking top 4 sides. Sunderland have shown the way as have Spurs & Villa this season by going at teams but Moyes will never do it.

We the fans get given shit from the club, shit from Blue Bill and now also shit from Moyes. He appears to have gone down the road where he doesn’t really give two hoots anymore and just spouts rubbish of late. His comment after the game on Sunday was, "Well I’m trying to find a winning team’...

Fuck me he is a man who is paid £60k odd a week to do a job and do it right! It’s a fucking embarrassment he can come out with that sort of shit in this day and age when there are genuine people who are out of work and are capable of doing a job and doing it well!

He buys the players, he trains the players their his! He is responsible for the way they perform and if they don’t then he shouldn’t be in a job, like any of us would if we didn’t deliver.

Andrew,
If she’s a right full back then Moyesie will sign here up for sure. Only thing is that she may have to vie with Hibbert, Neill, Heitinga, Neville & Coleman (and Hutton according to the rumour mill) for the spot.

I’d like to see him try and assault your nan as I’m sure a blood bath would ensue... And not your nan's blood either.

Why would they lie about injuries ? To sell tickets. Would you travel to all these games to see Cahill, Gos, Fell, Rod... comedy midfield? No... but you might if you thought Pienaar or someone else might play.

Why do we have so many injuries? Over training. Not enough technique and too much focus on fitness = injuries. Sack Round.

We are doing OK and well in reach of 5th in the table; We played well against United, and when we beat Liverpool on Sunday, we shall be only 2 points behind them, and a game in hand over them too... and we shall be only 4 points behind Villa at 5th in the table with a game in hand on them as well.

So stop being so miserable everyone.

Pienaar’s injury was initially assessed as bad bruising but it was stated that further problems might be identified when the swelling went down - evidently they were.

Neville was originally expected to be out until mid-December and gave himself the United game as a target. He didn’t make his target.

Before he was injured everyone couldn’t wait to get shot of Osman so why the sudden desperation to see him back?

David, I assume you don’t actually go to any games. Anyone who can look positievly on our present situation is either on medication or never has to endure watching Everton to realise what utter shite we are. I can only predict a possible draw against Hull and at best a nil-nil with the shite.

Injuries are always worse when you’re doing badly. Every manager of a struggling team blames injuries. It’s an easy excuse and injured players are in no rush to get back into a team that is showing no form. I’d heard Pienaar was supposed to be fit for the West Ham game but they didn’t want to risk him before the international break and now it looks like he’s not going to make it for the derby. A decent manager and decent medical staff would have got hold of him by now and told him to pull his fucking socks up and get out there and play. In Rathbone’s defence, his predictions of Pienaar’s recovery may have been correct but psychologically Pienaar might not be that arsed hence all mixed messages coming from the club about his injury..

you cant really put an exact time on when someone will recover from injuries, so I guess the press releases change over time and are as accurate as they can be! Also, it may keep the opposition guessing as to who we have fit for our next game. I wouldnt lose any sleep over this.

I care!! It is so frustrating being told players are close to coming back and then see that they have no chance!! Apaarently now Pienaar might play against Hull and Neville has had to have a minor operation!

What is it with knees and our club? That's Jags, Arteta and now Nev who have had to have operations after having treatment already?!! Anyway, just get all the fuckers to have a bath in horse placenta and they’ll be back for training in the morning.

Brian - Sunderland got the better of Arsenal with a makeshift team simply because they are a better team than us. Didn’t take Lorik Cana long to become a "cult hero" there did it. Missed the boat big time there.

They also pass the ball to one another on the floor. A concept that doesn’t seem to be encouraged at Everton.

We are a team full of people being played out of position and hoofball merchants. I’ll exclude Saha from this. The only player who comes out of this season with any merit.
Now i wonder what he could do with decent service!?
