Misery and Blue Bill

Comments (7)

We all know Bill Kenwright is a Toffee. Personally that means jack all to me.

He may love this club but he is slowly killing us. It brought into my mind that Steven King movie from the early 90s Misery with Kathy Bates. He loves us so much he can't bear to let us go. He is slowly loving this club to death.

I'm not going to write a negative or positive spin on Kirkby. It's in the past now and the net result has been a split fan base and a shit load of time wasted. Sure others have been involved but at the end of the day the responsibility for the entire direction of this club falls on Bill Kenwright. I'm begining to lose count of how many times we have been led down the garden path by this man to find nothing.

What now, for Christ's sake? There are plenty of complaints at the way the team is playing (I'll always watch but it's beginning to bloody hurt). Yes, Moyes is responsible for our tactics, players purchased and style but he has not been backed by the board at all. His best purchases are players like Pienaar, Arteta, Jags and Cahill who he picked up on the cheap because that was the only option open to him.

He has nevre had enough money to build a sqaud and plenty of our purchases have only come as a result of selling existing players. Moyes is responsible for poor onfield performances but Kenwright is responsible for who our manager is.

I still believe we will get by this year but we have taken a few big backward steps this year while our competition has only gotten stronger. That can only be sustained for so long. I'm beginning to rant but one thing is crystal clear now.

With our current board and recently our manager we are never going to get back to being in contention for the League or any major trophy. Change needs to come to Goodison.

After last nights appalling first half display and the news that DK has been thrown out I was wondering what the future holds for EFC?

I am certain the 'Moyes Out' brigade will be in full and fine voice this morning but what alternatives, or should I say realistic alternatives, are out there? Do you really think any top manager would resign their current role to move to EFC? I certainly dont, so who does that leave? Who do Everton fans honestely think we could attract at this moment in time?

We've no team spirit that is evident, no money, DK has been called off and what is the future for Goodison?

The ground, from what I have been able to find, only has a safety certificate until 2011 due to the wooden construction. How long will it take to redevelop taking into account planning applications and appeals ets etc? And where would the money come from to do this?

I really fear for the future of my club and it would be interesting to hear from fellow supporters what their honest thoughts and opinions are about these issues without this thread turning into a bickering session between posters.

I am reading stuff and thinking dont you know Everton’
And as for the safety scare story men Like Tom Hughes and Trevor Skempton have pissed on that bonfire before mate.

I love all this wooden doomed bullshit, so does that mean all National Trust sites with lots of wooden construction are doomed to the public? Does that mean the majority of the historic timber framed Elizabethan buildings in Stratford Upon Avon are doomed? Does it shite, the myth of Health and Safety certification was laughed out of town months ago, a lie that came from the club and I still have the response from the HSE about it.

Have to agree with the article, change is needed and soon, the stench from the top down is stomach churning.

Every single building open to the public has regulations which it needs to abide by, older buildings have leeway in that certain regulations would be impossible to enforce as the standards required simply didnt exist when they were built. Just look at older buildings too, DK had an expected lifespan of 25-30 years, GP is how old? New and old stadia need maintenance, just think of what you have to do to your own home to keep it going, neglect it and you pay the price.

When I last looked, timber framed buildings in Stratford didn’t host football matches or large crowds of up to 40,000 in enclosed spaces....whether the health and safety issue is key or not isn’t really the point. The fact is that Goodison is an outdated and unsuitable stadium for any football club with aims of greater achievement. Being sentimental is of no help.

Its not a case of maintenance but the need for something which is suited for the 21st century and suggests ambition. No-one will be in the least interested in buying the club or investing in it whilst Goodison is part of the picture.

Mike it’s not sentimentality but that together with other lies from the club keep getting churned out, and if it’s not a point don’t raise it as an argument. Personally I would love to see the Bullens Road completely rebuilt as it is a piss poor stand, by the way 40,000 don’t sit in the Bullens Road thats the whole place filled to the top with not half as much wood. The stadium being suited for 21st century is along the right lines but lateral thinking meant many clubs redeveloped; Man U and Villa to name two good examples.

If the reason no one has invested in Everton whilst other teams with "shithole" grounds have been bought and sold then please also explain that; Portsmouth, QPR or West Ham and don’t give me London location for West Ham or QPR as thats a poor one.

Martyn Valentine, I,ve got a name to throw into the hat as a prospective new manager. Glenn Hoddle. At least we would pass the ball to players with the same coloured shirts!! Plus he,s available and would fuckin’ jump at the chance.
