Proper fighting talk

“We are confident with our league form, and the players coming back from injury have improved the competition and the quality of the squad. This is the right time to face them.”
No fear, no doubt. Little wonder he admits he thrived on the blood and thunder of those trips in his derby match. “I enjoy games like that,” he says.
“They mean something different. It does not matter how you win. If I have to kick someone because he is going through on goal, I will kick him. We can shake hands and have a drink after the game, but during it there is only one winner, and for me that has to be Everton.”
This guy impresses me more than the usual talk we get from the players pre-derby. Make him captain, Moysie, and let him loose for the team talk!
Who is he? None other than Johnny Heitinga talking about his experiences in the Ajax-Feyenoord matches.
Boy, I'm out of touch, never realised how venomous those matches could be with helicopter monitoring, etc.
What's some of the other derby matches like in other foreign countries - any Turkish Evertonians?

On this occasion, go for it, Johnny!
Definitely a captain who puts that shower in the England team to shame.
I’ll be watching the game in a pub full of kopites that would’nt know where Analfailed was as they never go to the match.
We played them off the park in the last derby and lost - surely its our turn for a bit of luck.
1 - 4 and the fat waiter bleating its not his fault, how good a Saturday night would that be!!!! COYB
But my kid told me that it is now about 10 years since the last away fan was allowed in to watch the Ajax v Feijinoord derby (and yes that is how the suburb is spelt - the footy team changed the name so they could attract more international fans). No love lost.
And as added spice today - Heitinga and Pineaar are from the Ajax Academy and Kuyt from the Rood Sh*t as we call the other team. Go Jonny GO!
