Can't stop grinning like an idiot.

So many great things from today's match:

  • The constant pressure on the ball.
  • The passing game from a diminutive, ball playing line-up (Distin aside - but he gets a pass because of his defensive abilities)
  • Bilyaletdinov finally looking up for the battle — for 60 minutes at least.
  • Two young guys scoring vital goals. And Bily is only 24, as well.
  • Prima Donovan looking like a world class midfeilder.
  • Moyes's subs turning golden.
  • A 'character' performance without Cahill.
  • The chance to stick it up my brother in law.
  • And every other front runner who still thinks Van Nistelrooy plays in red.
  • My wife finally having an interst in football. Thankyou Shirtless Jack Rodwell.
What a glorious day!

That was a great game. And two vital moments from Distin, that were crucial: his tremendous block on Obertan, and a feint glance on Rooney's free-kick that kept the shot off-target.

Fantastic, historical match. We have no reason to fear a single team in the league. What a character performance as you said, from everyone on the pitch.

Honestly the embrace of the people is classic Goodison Park celebration. What an atmosphere. As much as this season is turning around, I really can’t wait for next season to have a fair crack at things.

Great day - quality and great qualities all over the park.

Osman had a very good one today. Playing in Europe is good for him because he spends more time on the ball, building his confidence, and probably his leg muscles too.

Will Sunshine Superman really want to leave all this behind, I wonder?

Push on now Blues. On to Lisbon and another win. And afterwards home to Blighty and another famous win at The Lane would be nice. 3+3+3 = 9 points from fixtures some would have predicted no return at all, save embarrassment.

I bow my head to David Moyes — two back-to-back come from behind wins against the Sky 4, is an incredible achievement. I am a fan of DM, but have always been critical of his in-game stategies. He got his tactics spot on today. 2 subs - 2 goals.

Credit to all the players, that was deserved. We beat them convincingly then, and it was by no means an unfair scoreline. Bily and Donovan both wasted gilt edged chances to put the game to bed earlier, we no doubt had the better chances in this game.

But most of all, credit to David Moyes. He has turned this club around yet again, and put the belief back into the players after an awful start to the season due to injury. Yet again, so many people proved wrong about his managerial ability. With the run in we have, Europe is in our own hands now. And with the form we are in, I think we will make it. LMA manager of the year again? You better believe it.

Awesome - absolutely awesome...

BUT - I think we earned it out of sheer determination more than anything... Pienaar was a shadow of himself, Arteta had a dog of a game in my eyes, Louis did fine but how many shots did he manage to get off? Our crossing from both Nev and Leighton was woeful — that aside, Distin and Johnny I thought were magnificent (if only JH would stop giving away uneccesary corners)

My Man of the Match was Donovan — I take my hat off to him, assured, dangerous, attacking, skilful, experience... DESIRE — he had everything today for me, his victory. Oh and the young lads — perfect.

That gap between 8th and 4th is looking all that little tighter all of a sudden.

God, I am one proud Blue today, to think we have come from being 3-0 down at half time to Hull back in October to beating Chelsea and United in successive games - convincingly aswel.

Throw in the fact we dominated Arsenal at the Emirates, even forcing notoriously biased Arsene Wenger to admit it should of been 3-1 to Everton.

The turn around is untrue.

I don’t know if I’m correct here, but had it not been for such a terrible start to the season and a morale sapping 6-1 home defeat to Arsenal, we would surely be on the road to a top 3 Premier League finish?

The irony, Gareth, surely lost on you and all the others who post such tripe, is that this was just exactly what people like me have been asking for from Everton and David Moyes for months and months and months. Unlike you and your fellow Moyes Apologists, we knew it was not unreasonable to expect the players Moyes had collected to play to this standard. Yet we were repeatedly told by wiser minds who claimed to know far more about the current game called Premier League football — that such things were not possible.

Michael, and as for you negative, non-believing constant moaning people, you also fail to see what the reality is. Moyes has never asked his team to do anything different. He just didn’t have the personnel available to do it previously.

So don’t try and defend yourself with the saving face comment of ’I always said Everton should play like that’. You simply cannot play in that way, without having good, settled players available. They were not there earlier in the season. So save your ’I always knew Everton could play like that if they tried attacking’ comments as it is so easy to see through it. We haven’t played a different game today, it was still one up front, with your favourite player Osman in the middle, and no Coleman who you have advocated as being the one who can make a difference. If anything, I would say we were fairly average today (Pienaar, Arteta, Baines, Bily), we just happened to take our chances more clinically. 3-1 does slightly flatter us to be brutally honest.

To support Dan, we are playing exactly the way we played a year ago when we also had a lot of our strongest players available.

And, guess what? To all those who deride the Moyes defensive ethic, a lot of the reason we won today is because he has coached players like Arteta, Osman, Pienaar and now Bily to relentlessly chase down their attacking players. Our second goal was because Valencia did not do the same.

Wenger, Mancini, Wilkins and now Ferguson have all graciously and admiringly acknowledged that we outplayed them. They don’t just mean that we outpassed them; they mean we did not allow them to play. Like it or not, that is the Moyes way, so don’t pretend otherwise.

What’s makes Michael’s posts so amusing is that he gives it the old "finally, this is what I have been asking for" every few weeks! He did it after Arsenal, he did it after Chelsea, he did it after Man City. Piece them all together and you’ll notice that he’s reluctantly praising his arch enemy a couple of times every month, all-the-time insisting that Moyes is finally taking his advice. Fair play, you’ve gotta admire his persistance!

Thats what annoys me most Paul, he tries to make out that Moyes is ’finally’ following what he has been asking for. Even though the football playing style is no different! The equaliser was a ’hoofball’ as he would put it. It’s as if Moyes has sent him a text saying ’you know what Kenrick, you were right. Today they played football because that’s the only way to play Manure. Sure we were dodgy early on when Bainsy was giving Valencia too much room but this new Everton has the spirit to come back and very few teams have done that against Chelsea and Manure.Even Osman had a great game and I never thought I would ever say that. Dan B 3-1 flattered us ??? How could it , that was the actual score.
Manure are not the team they once where and their best player Ie Rooney never plays well against us. That apart they are 2nd and have had a very good run recently.
Heitinga & Donovan played well today and Osman was excellent but in truth there was no stand out 10 out of 10 performers, what there was though was players playing in there favoured positions. ie Osman rightly gets stick when played wide right. I know some smartarse will say Bily and Landon where on the wrong sides but playing that way was how Bily scored and it’s an excepted tactic now.
Great result i just hope Moyes will play for wins from now till the end of the season with the belief we can beat anyone.

that was the first time manure have dropped points in a game they have took the lead, credit where its due the whole team played brilliant. Osman is a centre midfielder and he has often shone playing there as opposed to the wing. Makes me laugh that our ’negative’ substitions in Gosling and Rodwell were the people that were highest up the pitch to get goals. The commentators were just starting to have their own rant on Moyes tactics and reluctance to try and sit out a win when Gosling scored.
Best thing for me was how we didn’t then just sit back and grind out the result we then pushed on and extended the lead. Well played by all on the night.

John G,

Now I'm on a right downer. But as they say in footy "what will be will be" or Que saha saha!

Saw the the game in the pub in sunny Cornwall and apart from the class finishing for the goals i thought the moment for me was that tackle from Distin. How can you put it, well timed world class, poetry, but for me that said everything about the way Moyes the manager, who after the mid-week episode is the guy who instead of giving the hairdryer treatment too, puts his arm around the player and consloes him. Well done DM.

Over the last few games there will be one manager who will look at our Leon with covetous eyes and that man my friends is one A Wenger.

He would wish that this, our little dynamo, played along side Fabregas and all the rest. Sorry Arse, He's ours and he stays put!!

I've thought for quite a while that our football was starting to match those of the Sky three. I also think that there are more teams in the league than the top three. IT'S THOSE TEAMS WE NEED TO BEAT.

Let's enjoy the day, sort out Lisbon and the Totty, and then get revved up for all those teams who will become, as we did, "dogs of war"

Well done everyone today at our "mecca" you really did us proud. I will of course be keeping a watchful eye on the media as to how this goes down. Let's have chat about this in midweek and discuss what was said about us and more importantly by whom. It should be fun.

Just got back from the match! What a great comeback . . . and how poor are Man U?

I think we have done well against Man C, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man U because they all tried to play football themselves - allowing our midfield just a bit more time and space to play ourselves. We get the ball off them and give it to Ozzie, Peanuts, Jason or Micky - who can actually do something given a few yards.

Against average sides who harry and chase (RS and Brum in the cup), we had no time in midfield as they were too busy trying to jump out of the way of tackles - resulting in the back four resorting to hoofball.

Carry on like this and who knows? Makes those points dropped at home to the likes of Wolves and Stoke expensive now.

Time for some serious beer!

Anyone else think that Rooney seemed to lack appetite for this match. Osman was excellent and all goals well taken and though Baines seemed vulnerable in the first half things tightened up later and he got some decent crosses in. From time to time we paniced and hit the ball anywhere when under pressure which gave them the advantage. Still must’nt carp after a famous victory. Remember the next time we see unfair or personalised critisism, how well he has played against two of THE BEST teams not just in the prem but also Europe.

Well done Leon and as a supporter of the club i hope he maintains these standards.

Anyone who thinks otherwise-Why?

I am not one of Leon Osmans biggest fans, but I must say how much he contributed to the display and overall performance. We played the ball around in midfield superbly, bringing back memories of the fargone days.
