Boy do we make life difficult ? We should have had West Ham on toast in the first half but unable to string more than two passes tohether. The sooner Coleman is slotted in at right back the better; Neville was devoid of the most basic skills. Even Peanuts struggled and did'nt really start playing until the second half. Saha another disappointing 90 minutes but at least the Yak scored a lovely goal as did Bily. Looks like our lads won't be needing their passports next season but it's probably a blessing in disguise. Let's hope they use the close season to hone their skills and get into the Top 4 because on the present basis they have'nt a chance of doing so.

We couldn't hold out for 5 minutes.Another dissapointing result against a shit team.Just what are the tactics when we are leading late on?God only knows.Forget Europe.Started cold and came out even colder in the second half. Are we a Jeckyll and Hyde team or what.Let's get the season over with.

We've had four good results this season.

Two questions: Neville: why?

Rodwell's 82 minute sub: why?

Not that I expect any cogent answers.

Why do we go through phases where we loose concentration at crucial times. Top4 challenge next season.....errr don't think so.

Mike McClean... Why?
Because we have a manager who will not drop his favourites, no matter how bad they play. He doesn't change and never will. 83 minutes before he realised Osman was absolutely piss poor. The man's pathetic!

Perspective. Yes - horrible result. Yes - turgid second half performance. Yes - that's it for this season for me BUT to say we have no chance of challenging the top 4 next year? League results over the last 6 months suggest otherwise.

Don't blame the referee that is a cop out. Today we were apalling. No heart, no desire, no effort... we just gave up. We didn't want to know.

I don't mind losing as long as we try; today was pathetic.

No leadership — The players should be ashamed...

And don't blame the manager either; we have players on that pitch with enough experience and on enough money to have sorted it out themselves. Seasoned pros, who just bottled it.

Second half we played with our heads down and were outfought and outplayed by West Ham. That is the most pathetic performance of the season.

I know the are lots of ifs and buts, but a win today would have put us firnly in the picture for Europe, but yet again we have come up short when it really matters.

Howard's fault for first goal, although good save for the pen. Neville not good enough... the whole midfield went missing 2nd half, and 2 strikers who can't be arsed to break out of a jog. The only players who looked interested were Jags and Heitinga

The players should donate this week's wages to charity — I can forgive most things, but lack of effort is unacceptable.

Tragic display...

Just when you think w're going in the right direction..

Our midfield were awful today...constantly conceding possession and making unforced errors.....As for the leadership..some of the stuff that Neville did was cringeable - schoolboys errors all over the place..

Fair enough, Webb did miss a clear penalty...but I hardly think we can blame the referee for he inepttude on show.

I know Heitinga's had a couple of reasonale perfromances in midfield...but I fail tyo see what he does in midfield that he couldn't do from centre half...we have potentially one of the best centre half pairings in the league - not being utilised..

It'll probably take an injury to Distin before we see our best defensive pairing.

Absolute shambles today....Lets hope Mikel gets back soon.

Ciaran is spot on.

Today's result was really really criminal. Especially as it was the perfect opportunity to close the gap on Liverpool. Moyes made some very strange decisions today. I really do wonder sometimes how much he does actually learn from his mistakes. We have been playing some great stuff recently in midfield but today's selection there was bizarre. Why leave out Rodwell who is in blistering form for Bily. And again Heitinga would have been better at CB. I hope all the fucking muppets who were so pleased with Neville on the Coleman thread got the performance they wanted today. He was abysmal. Again!

If we are serious about stepping up and becoming a top 4 team there are certain things that need to be done. The first is drop Neville for good.

1. Give West Ham some credit. They showed real spirit in the second half and deserved their point.

2. Everton have very little to play for and it appears inspiring the players to beat some teams is proving hard for Moyes.

3. Despite his goal Bily is rubbish.

4. Saha badly needs a goal.

5. Heitinga's distribution was poor today.

6. The team misses Arteta.

Howard Webb - modeling himself on the best ref in the world - soi disant - was a disgrace today. Penalties? The only real chance a ref has to award a goal The 1 Us 0.

He wasn't in their pay, but it would be such a shame for them to go down, wouldn't it?

So fuck our future.

As bad as Collina in my book.

ps Beckham liked Collina - he must be the best.

Exactly James Stewart!

Neville is at sea (criminal clearing, no link play, poor crossing). What exactly is the use of him? Oh I know... the mindless shite he spews midweek about how the team want to finish the term on a positive note or Osman's really up for it this week. Will you just retire and become a youth coach for crying out loud!

Moyes is dense and will sadly never learn. I wrote a piece a few months back (admittedly a tad long-winded and meandering) called "Moyes is a donkey".

I rest my case.

Two young players that we needed today for a spark of inspiration: Rodwell and Coleman!

One is dominating the Championship and one was dominating the bench for 82 minutes.

Why can't Moyes... just be better???

A couple of weeks ago we had a thread that people that went to the game were in some way superior to those that didn't, I thought it was nonsense, even though I go to all the home games, but there is no doubt what you don't see on TV is Saha's body language and since he's signed the lucrative contract has put his slippers on and lit a cigar.

The amount of times I hear from the football 'experts' that injuries apart, Saha is up there with the best... It's high time he put a shift in.

Coleman is dominating the Championship? Really? Is he dominating that league with his one goal?

That comment made me laugh out loud. He's scored one goal and had a couple of decent performances.

How about a little perspective.

Dominating. Talk about over reacting.

Dick, you make me laugh.

A couple of "decent" performances.... That's pretty good considering he has only played a couple of games!

Decent in your books equates to what exactly? Scoring and setting up goals from RB is slightly better than decent.

Then again, perhaps you have just become accustomed to watching Hibbert & Neville. If they are the benchmark of what a right back at EFC should be doing, then Coleman is probably having the time of his life somewhere else.

Just got back:

Pointless blaming Osman (again & again & again) — all his old faults reappearing...
Pointless blaming Bily — IMHO he is tired after a long season and a half...
Pointless blaming Peanuts — for once this season ineffectual and on the fringe.

Pointfull (???) — Moyes's substitutions — how many seasons (apart from Spurs 3 seasons ago) have we seen him make them when we need them? Everyone around me at half time was crying out for Bily or Osman off, Yak on, Cahill in the hole instead of playing so deep he couldn't find himself.

Perspective: 6th next season above Villa and Spurs... wow, way to go. No, time for a change. For the first time in 8 plus years — Davey, it's time to step aside.

It was a case of total frustration today. We had a dominating first half when for all our possession we realy threatened Green.

We had no width on the right due to the Bily/Neville combination being totally ineffective. Bily is NOT a winger and whilst I believe his best position is in the hole behind the forward(s), I dont think he's got the bottle for the Premier League. He truly ducks out of challenges.

Neville is never going to be a good attacking fullback and Moyes's biggest problem next year is the Coleman/Neville choice.

On the left today Pienaar and Baines were competely sussed out by West Ham — credit to Zola. Their first-half display was okay but they didn't do anything second half - maybe Baines's knock is bad? ... we'll soon find out.

In the middle, I'm not sure what Osman and Cahill were up to. Osman seemed to be playing off Saha rather than Cahill. Heitinga did alright but there was no link-up play, as Arteta gives us and to a lesser extent Rodwell when he's playing well.

Up front, Saha had one of those days when he was ineffective, both West Ham centre halves did a good job on him. When he realises he's had, it he transgresses into Mr Not Interested mode.

I thought Jags and Distin did alright defensively but their distribution was woeful, particularly Jags. Not having a receiving midfield player didn't help. What the hell was Osman up to!?!

Overall, it showed once again when we really need to deliver, we freeze. We can play some of the best football, beating some decent teams... but when we need to scrape a result, we can't: Birmingham (Cup), Lisbon (Cup), today... and I suspect more to come as yet this season.

One last point , where the hell is Anichebe , the lad spends more time in Basil's treatment room. For a young lad so big, he's got a heart like a pussycat.

Neville and Hibbert have played hundreds of games in the Premier League.

Coleman has played a couple of games in the Championship.

How you can rate Coleman so highly is beyond me. In my book he has a lot to prove. Next season Moyes should give him a run in the Premier League. Then we'll see what he's made of.

Maybe then I'll forget the mauling Coleman received from Benfica.

But it's also true that he was absolutely mauled by Benfica.
