New Kit 'Technology'

Comments (40)

I am on the whole excited by the new kit being released; however, the continued talk of 'brand new technology' is making me think I should prepare myself for another dud!

I as a fan believe that, if Le Coq want to develop the technology of a shirt, the main areas that would interest fans would be pie juice and bovril repellent material with wonderbra-esque developments that improve the look of an out-of-shape male's bust.

Let's face it, the majority of these shirts are not worn for playing football in... and, as much as I believe in giving the players the best shirt to compete in, please please please just concentrate on what it LOOKS like — I am sick of looking a twat with the biggest ever triangle on my chest!

I am starting to get a bit worried about the new home shirt. It's just the way it's described 'an evolution of the traditional Everton royal blue colour'. It doesn't need evolving — we play in Royal Blue, that is our colour. I really hope they haven't messed about with that. I don't want it to be any other shade of blue.

Sounds like flim flam to me. It's a fucking material. It's only real purpose is to promote the club brand and cover Yakubu's man boobs.

Unfortunately, the kit isn't designed for the fans. I can't really imagine Leon Osman or Diniyar Bilyaltedinov require such wonderbra-esque developments!!!! If you like the kit, buy it; if you don't, don't.

Do people really care that much. The players wear it, we support them and in a couple of years it changes and we have these conversations again.

With respect - why did you buy one then?

A few points are being missed here. Let's start with the biggest:

1. The shirts on sale are NOT the same as the ones the team play in. The are a replica and nothing more so stop worrying about the technology.

2. What concerns me most for the players is that the LCS bloke talking about the shirt is more excited about how its the most technically advanced shirt LCS have ever produced. Let me repeat that: its the most technically advanced shirt LCS have ever produced. What does this mean? Is it as advanced or more so than, say, Umbro, Adidas or Nike? Or are they playing catch up?

3. After last season's diabolical kit the club were always going to err on the side of caution with this season's first team strip.

4. See point 1!!!

I didn't buy last season's home shirt because I didn't like it. Given all this 'evolution' crap, I have prepared myself for the worst. Just as long as it's not red!!

Never understood why we can't get someone decent like Nike to make our kits. My mates who support Celtic, United, Arsenal etc — their training gear and track suits all are quality.

We on the other hand have some decent stuff and a lot of shite stuff. Plus, when I was in Everton Two on Grand National weekend, every size was XXXL. Don't know what size they think we all are...

Has anyone any idea why the kit is being unvieled at 6pm? Seems a bit random to me and this 'evolution' crap gets on my tits — just release the top!

You can check out the official home kit at the website now.

Now that's a proper kit. Evolution or not, it will be a timeless classic, no fancy bits of white, black or yellow (shame about the 'contemporary' badge though). Can see my getting a few spares down the line. COYB

I see those giants of World football, Ayr United are playing in Nike next season, whilst Macclesfield wore adidas when we played them.

So, if you are prepared to accept an off the peg kit with your badge on it and get paid peanuts to wear it, anybody can have any manufacturer they like it seems.

However, EFC are caught between arock and a hard place. On one hand we have people complaining about ' Identikits' when the likes of Umbro are involved and also demanding we bring in money from kit deals to blster the Club's finances. On the other, we also have to accept we want adidas and Nike more than they want us so will get nothing like as much cash by wearing their gear, whilst LCS have also managed to bring us some prety unique kits - which some conservative ( not Tories, just people who have little imagination ) then don't like!

The situation will only change when we start winning things. Then the manufacturers all want us and we dictate who, what, how much and when etc. That's the reality.

Not seen the Home kit yet, but I like the Pink away kit. I liked the black and pink one last season, but thought the Home shirt was ruined by that white triangle on the collar being too big.

Understand that Karl. But if we had adidas we'd sell many more shirts surely. So I'd guess Macclesfield get more revenue by having an adidas shirt. It would depend on how the contract between adidas and Everton was written - up front cash or royalties per shirt......

It would appear the the 'evolution' has been the worst kept secret. The new home is exactly the same as the one leaked on this website. As was the away kit.

On a side note; has anyone else noticed that you can't select Yakubu as a squad member for the back of you shirt?

I'm sure that's just a technical issue...

Why would we sell more Richard? I can't imagine a person would decide to buy a poor looking kit just because it was by Nike or on the other hand refuse to buy a great looking kit because it was by Le Coq Sportif. Then again, I am not a slave to fashion and have to have all the Evisu, Ted Baker, Diesel stuff though.

Just been having a nose at the new home kit on the official online store, and noticed that you can pre-order the shirt with a players name/number on the back. The squad list is there for you to choose from, all except one player... Yakubu.

Is there something in this? Or is this just a simple mistake that hes been missed out, and I'm making something out of nothing?

Sod's Law... by the time I've posted this, his name will probably appear on the squad list!

I hope so anyway, i for one hope we keep the Yak!.....

I’ve just had a look at the new kit. I’m not sure I like it, it’s too plain. Might be a bit different and get the away shirt this season.

On a side note, as of 22.30 on the 30th you couldn’t get Yakubu on the shirt, however you can still get it on the ‘Limited Edition’ purple shirt from last season… Interesting NSNO

First time i've actually quite liked the home kit in years. Simple and smart and no needless gimmicky bib, flash of yellow or white diamonds etc on the shoulders. Still wish we could get the traditional 'EFC' crest back on the shirt, rather than the more modern badge with 'Everton' needlessly writen under it.

Also, the photographer who took the promo shots for the official site needs shooting. All the players look like weird wax work dummies with melted faces. Phil Neville's is paticularly bad. It's as though the make up artist kept adding more and more slap in a vain attempt to make him photogenic and then just went "oh fuck it" and whacked everything she had on there. He literally looks like Brundlefly.

A bit underwhelmed by it really - it looks very much like a training top !! Personally I would have liked to see the kit have a broader royal blue stripe down the side of the shorts and a white collar/vee neck for the shirt.

When it comes to the shirt, the club can't possibly please everyone - some like a fancy kit, and some like a very plain one.

I like the new strip - it has the three fundamentals that say 'Everton FC' - royal blue shirt, white shorts and white socks.

If I was being fussy, a classic crest and a white roundneck would be better, and I don't really see the point of the chest band if it's the same colour as the rest of the shirt.

Well, I like both the home and away kits, but then my formative evertonian days were in the mid-80's so that's what I remember fondly.

As a side note, does Le Coq Sportif literally translate to the sporty chicken?

They are in fact Identical! Although if you want to be pedantic they are indeed not the ones they play in as they would then be 2nd hand. (and worth slightly more!)

I think the kit is nice, however I have been saying for years that we should have Nike or Adidas as the kit manufacturer, as I can guarantee that Everton tracksuit sales would go through the roof with the amount of teenage scouse blues who would buy them.

Everton are missing a trick here IMO.

I have to say that I own (proudly) the pink shirt, and can concur that the kits are indeed 'technological'. What I mean by this is that as you run, them little holes in it keep your body nice and cool. Shirt stinks after a few sweaty hours like, but fresh as a daisy underneath.

I don't get it, do some want to go back to the days of having the same shirt as Chelsea, Wigan, and whichever other clubs happen to have the same manufacturer - what I've loved about LQS so far has been the uniqueness of each strip. Having said that, last year's home strip looks poor next to this year's, though I still love last season's away - I'll have to rotate wearing the two.

@34

The professional 'field' version jerseys are of different material and fitting. The badge is less irriating. There are cheaper 'fans' version for us lemmings. I know this for adidas and Nike; can't be certain for Le Coq though.

Plus the Premier League numbers and letters on the back are much larger and have a fuzzy feel, compared to the fan's versions which are smaller and shiny/smooth feel. COYB
