Moyes among world football's top earners
A Portugese football finance website (http://www.futebolfinance.com/os-30-maiores-salarios-de-treinadores-de-futebol-2012) recently published a list showing the top earning managers in the game. Our David Moyes was listed at Number 12.
I do admire the work that Moyes has done and is doing, conscious of the fact that he's operating on one of the more conservative budgets in the Premier League. But reading that Moyes clocks in at Number 12 on an apparent worldwide list of manager salaries does make me question ?If we are so quick to forgive Everton's current level of achievement on the basis of finance (specifically relating to transfer budget and player salaries), shouldn't we wonder if Moyes is really worth £3 million per annum??
Looking down the list (at least up to #30 which was the maximum I could find) I found a whole bunch of names which I thought could easily replace Moyes in terms of coaching/mangerial ability. Of course, a big question is would they want to come knowing they would have to operate within a shoestring budget. Nevertheless, it does make me wonder:
How did Everton FC decide that paying Moyes £3 million per year is justifiable ? I mean if they had any idea of what other managers were earning, would they have considered replacing Moyes with someone else?
And OK, so assuming Everton FC did not know back then, would they now consider taking a risk on someone else commanding a lower pay?

Every interview he`s had this week included his `tribute to the best chairman in the land`.
He even talked of `Blood Brothers`this morning.
Of course,he`s leaned from the master-absolute fecking bullshit !
"Beyond the English presence, ranking still evidences the Brazilian sprouting of technician, that starts to compete with the Europeans in this substance. Luis Filipe Scolari, who commands the Palms, has an annual remuneration of 3,6 million euros, appearing in 11.ª position of the table. Muricy Ramalho (Saints), Abel Braga (Of the state of Rio de Janeiro), Tite (Corinthians) and Dorival Júnior (International) also enter in the 30 lot of technician with the biggest wages. E I flow Menezes, Brazilian selector, occupies 29.ª position, with 1,7 million euros. Of remaining portion, between selectors, with the absence of Cap used by juris doctorate graduates, Ottmar Hittzfeld one became in the technician of most paid a national selecção of the world, with 2,6 million euros per year, followed for Joachim Low (Germany), that it receives 2,4 millions. E Vicent del Forest, the champion of the world to the service of Spain, gains 2,2 million euros per year. Last note: the weak presence of trainers of you equip Italians in the last places of ranking as reflected of one accented importance in addition of the soccer of the country in the European panorama - only Claude Ranieri (Inter), Massimiliano Allegri (AC Milan) and Antonio Count (Juventus) are capable to integrate the list".
Fair point I think.
Overall, it seems he is compensated relatively fairly, which is surprising as my gut reaction was that his contract was too high.
Ferguson and Wenger deserve all they can get, and then you have Redknapp, Hughes, O'Neill, Dalglish and Moyes. There's arguments for all 5 of them, but I would prefer Moyes to three of the four ? I would only take O'Neill above him.
OK, he has the best interests of the club but he's not one of us. I'd more than welcome that kind of salary and for my employers to turn a blind eye when I put in a poor shift or accept some sub-standard performances now and again... Who can I write to?
So obvious!
Moyes is the most important person at Everton. Adebayor is on £10m a year at Man City. Arteta was paid around the same as Moyes, £60k per week. Great man ? but not as important.
Do you think there is no club that would pay Moyes more? Then, sadly, you are very, very wrong.
Well done Kenwright for seeing that keeping a top-class manager is the most effective use of our limited resources.
If there is to be a wage cut then Moyes has to join the players, if not then he sets the wrong example.
In terms of if he is worth the money my answer is no based on this season.
During the past years he has done better but to me he is earning way too much for what he produces.
1, That is the reason they are National side coaches.
2, Nations generate a lot less sponsorship/revenue than club sides so they naturally have less to budget for paying a coach and his staff.
AVB won 4 trophies in the same year with Porto inc Europa league. Who would take him over Moyes now?? Phil Scolari won the WC with Brazil. Anyone want him shouting from the touchline at the Old Lady??
With Jelavic and Gibson coming in we have 2 very good players. Bily and Saha going are definalty no loss now.
Moyes is reshaping the squad again and we seem to be more competitive for it.
This is the sign of a good manager. The ability to re-invent his side. There is still a lot of work to do as Distin, Neville & Cahill all need replacing by the end of next season. To replace these with players either within the reserves of new players on a wheel and a deal shoestring I cannot think of another mamanger that I would have.
Give the guy a break. Yes he has his faults but so does everyone out there. Mourinho top of the pay charts. He cannot keep his mouth in check whichever country he goes to. The media cannot stand him. Guardiola. Inherited the core of the current side but taps into the La Masia academy for a ready made replacement whenever he needs to. 1 year rolling contract which means that Barcelona cannot plan for any long term future with him.
