Campaign for Derby Ticket Refund

 29 Comments: First  |  Last

In the wake of the most cowardly surrenders in Merseyside Derby history (certainly in my memory), I think that the most appropriate thing for David Moyes to do is the following:

Offer to personally refund any fan who went to that game and paid the exhorbitant ticket prices. Not the Club, but Moyes, out of his reported £3million / year salary

The game was lost before any players took to the pitch. Had fans known the nature of the side he wasn?t going to put out, they could have saved themselves the fifty quid and the misery.

Any ideas on the best way of starting a campaign? (I?m serious.)

If you multiply that night's gate fee by the number of every visit to Anfield, Old Trafford and Arsenal I can afford to go on holiday this year.

Maybe take a big sign to the Sunderland game reading "WANTED: pride, passion and attitude in return for 1 Anfield derby ticket stub"

FFS! I can see the point you are making but what a complete and utter waste of time and energy when it will never happen.

Just reduce your future expenditure on EFC by the amount you paid for the derby tickets and then let the club know. If everyone does this en masse then... Point made!

Otherwise I see this bollocks thread going on for weeks...!!!

As has been mentioned before... WHEN he manages Celtic, do you think he would ever do the same away to Rangers? Would he shite because he would be strung up, but us soft fuckers have to endure people who don't watch Everton every week or more than five times a year tell us how lucky we are.

Very well said Paul Gladwell.

WHEN he goes to Celtic there is no way he will pull that shit off. The problem is that we have far too many fans content to just survive and believe all the hype that surrounds Moyes. The hype will continue around Moyes because the media pundits etc will never want to contradict themselves and admit they were wrong about him.

Unfortunately for us, Moyes and Kenwright believe it as well and we are stuck with it until the Laurel and Hardy era is over.

Back the the original post. I think you should make as much noise about it as possible, it won't happen because Kenwright won't go against Moyes and Moyes won't admit he was wrong but it will be good for them to hear that the fans want their money back for that disaster.

Go for it! After all Moyes is telling us all about taking a 20% cut in wages, so this should be a natural extention.

I think you could gain some ground asking the club for a free or discounted ticket to a home match. The club could go for that if we win on saturday because they would make enough to cover if we went to wembley. I don't think you're going to get a full refund, though.

Anthony

If you're a season ticket holder then you're sunk, if not and you haven't already got tickets then just don't go to the next two home games and you'll be about a tenner up.

Plenty of others are voting with their feet and it's only the prospect of a possible Wembley visit which has kept the cup attendances up.

Tuesday night was a disgrace; if we had been playing in the final on Saturday, then maybe I could have understood the starting 11... but to roll over at Anfield "AGAIN" is inexcuseable.

How do you compensate for being emotionally mugged?

Not being over dramatic here, but who else feels like theyve been robbed of......(well its hard to put into words even, and i know im good, and have always had a command of the english language),but, i just feel like i missed out on something that was supposed to be a fantastic and really special treat that ive worked hard for ages for, but turned out to be the equivalent of finding a rattlesnake in a lucky dip.

Moyes you then turn round and tell me, not to worry as it was one of the best prizes on offer.

Your prize David, will be as Paul Gladwell remarked will be Celtic.

Don't be so stupid - should I ask for refunds for all the drivel I've had to endure whilst drivin' down the county to watch Everton from Northumberland.......?!?!?!?

He, quite rightly in my opinion, thinks we've more chance of winning the cup.

However, I wasn't there on Tuesday and probably would be a bit pissed off if I was.

That doesn't detract from the fact that we'd surely rather win the cup than an insignificant derby game against that shower of bastards....

It was the defenders' fault cos he changed the team and they let in 3 goals. Christ, did you not see the interview after the game! It fucked things up for the season ticket early bird push though, didn't it... because the next morning I received the early bird pack which I chucked straight in the bin ? along with £50 that was in there from the night before!

I emailed the club about nine hours after the derby and got a response within about 20 minutes:

I'm saying what I believe many Evertonians are thinking today, and that is, we want an explanation, and an apology from David Moyes. Now, I live in Australia, so I can't go to games, but I believe that every single Everton fan that paid money to go to the derby should be reimbursed the full price of the ticket, as that display from the manager was not worthy of the Everton crest. It was only this week that Moyes came out with two separate statements, one claiming that he would go for the win in this game, and the other discussing that the players he had coming back from injury were the ones that weren't performing earlier in the season when they weren't injured. Therefore, is it not understandable that we, as supporters feel cheated out of an away Merseyside derby that was probably the most winnable we've had in over 10 years.

Looking forward to hearing Moyes thoughts on this.

Got this response:

Dear Mr Sidey

Thank you for email regarding last night?s game with Liverpool.

We share your deep disappointment with the result. The selection of any Everton team has always been the sole responsibility of the Manager and irrespective of any concerns raised on a game-by game basis, must remain so.
Kind Regards.

There you go, "sole responsibility", so I reckon you're in with a case, mate.

It was a disgraceful decision by Moyes to regard the derby match as insignificant. Even if it was not the derby match, it was 3 points surrendered when a chance at Europe was still possible.

It has now backfired somewhat after failing to beat Sunderland and now it remains that a loss in the replay in their backyard effectively ends the season.

Well done Moyes! You have celebrated your 10th anniversary in style with more of the typical hairbrained decisions we have become accustomed to.

You have to laugh at Moyes, all that 10-year tub thumping and the big love-ins with the media,

Then he spectacularly provides one of the greatest Everton FC fuck-ups in the last 20 years.

Ha ha ha ha... he will still be here in 20 years as no-one else will have him.

Why is it unrealistic for us to win two games on the run? We beat Spurs and had a great chance to do the same to a poor Liverpool side.
