About Supporting Everton

 12 Comments: First  |  Last

This will read corny, but I?ve been thinking on it. So here goes.

As regular contributors know, I came in with Landon a couple years ago. He left. I stayed and am here to stay. I?m a Blue. What I don?t or will ever have is that Blue strand in my DNA that you all have as naturally as the strands for hair or eye color.

I want us to win today for the usual reason of any sports fan, ?My team won, yeah!?. What I don?t have is the effect of our winning today going straight into my DNA. I do have this feeling when my Yankees win in baseball. So I get it but don?t have it where EFC is concerned.

As much as anything, I?m looking forward to the post-game comments here. I don?t have that strand, but will live it through you all as you share what it means to beat the red shirts in a big game. Congrats ahead of time. Looking forward to watching the game and hearing the noise the Faithful make that?s different from the sound of other club?s supporters. COYB!

Don't suppose you'll get too much response to this today James as everyone will be a bit preoccupied. 4-15am here I'm just about to set off for Wembley but thanks for the good wishes.

James, I share all your feelings.....but it's a strange day for me today. Depending on the minute, I'm either entirely positive that we'll get the result....or totally downcast that it'll be another one of "those days"......anyway, here's hoping for the best. At this minute, I'm certain we'll wipe the floor with those red shirts....Come on You Blues !!

James,

I think the strand is already there, it may be small but it is there. Something about Everton touched you and made you stay with us, you call yourself a Blue as do we and you write passionately about the club.

A famous player of ours, Alan Ball once said 'Once Everton has touched you nothing will be the same'

You are proof of that, you are one of us, still learning may be, but you already know we are different. Welcome to the family, sharing in the agonies and the ecstasy - like you I know which one I want tomorrow.

It was not corny, thanks for writing it.

Howard - Full-throated noise for 90 minutes. What's an hour and a half of losing your mind?

I'll be listening for you.

Blue American here, been around a bit longer than you, but still feel like fate brought be to Everton as soon as I got into football. Too many things added up to make me a fan and Everton is the most important team to me.

Not my colleges teams nor the teams where I was born matter as much to me as Everton. I've never really had to doubt it or understand it, it's just been my passion.

I love this team, I always want what's best for it, and most days it's one of the primary things on my mind. I'll be getting up in 4:30 AM here in California and be going completely insane if we win.

It might take a little longer James but the blue bug has bitten you at least. It's gotta be there if you're hanging around, it's not the easiest team to cheer for, especially earlier this year. Maybe you'll feel it better if you know we're going to a final!!!!!

James, reckon the blood transfusion you had 2 years back was blood from an Evertonian. You've definately been touched by the Everton bug.

There's no turning back now. Welcome aboard the rollercoaster that is EFC.

Don't worry about James you are one of us now.

Enjoy today and the final but keep in mind that supporting Everton is usually one big heartbreaking let down.

Still the best though.

James, just take a look at all the posts you have put on Toffeeweb. Then ask yourself why any sane person would be that passionate. When you fail to find the alternative answer, you will realise that you really are a fully fledged bluenose. You cant make it by reasoning, its just that little bit of magic that touched you and will never leave.

Welcome to the greatest gang on earth, toffees forever. NSNO

Flynny.

You will find eventually that it's like a disease.

It creeps up on you and takes over your whole being, you can go to the Dr's and he will tell you there is no cure, it's terminal.

It's hopeless and there is no point in fighting it.

I for one consider you a blue so welcome to the roller coaster that is Everton.

Always be dignified and never arrogant, remember the words of the great Brian Labone.

"One Evertonian is worth a thousand Liverpudlians."

Sorry James, but you are a blue...never mind the DNA.
Being a blue entitles you to a lifetime of what if's, if only's, next season's.etc etc
General heartache and misery.
Bloody marvellous ! And no one will ever accuse you of being a glory hunter.
But remember, like the Mob and the Provo's,... you can never leave !

I've worked all over the Middle East and I have converted Sudanese and even Iraqi's who wear the EFC shirt after my brain washing speeches.

I have emphasised history and down-played the Premier League as second rate compared to the old First Division when every side had an equal playing field and foreign players came from Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

I'm just apprehensive about the strength on the bench?? Drenthe should be on it as he is the only real impact player especially if Magaye struggles.
