7th Place guaranteed finish if...

With 2 more games to go, EFC are sitting pretty on 7th with 52 points with a +8 goal difference.
If we beat Wolves on Sunday by a 2- to 3-goal margin, it should guarantee us a 7th place finish.
Although I?d love to beat the Skunks on the last day of the season, there won?t be any pressure from the boys as we would have already cemented the 7th place spot.
Even if the RS or the Cottagers win their last 2 games, I don?t think they will be able to displace us.
COYB!!!

I think realistically a win of any description on Sunday would effectively wrap up 7th.
By the way, we've received a couple of submissions this past week seeking clarification on Europe so, to reiterate, there are NO permutations remaining whereby EFC can qualify for the Europa League.
The highest League placing that can get into Europe is sixth and no additional places will be created no matter what happens in either the Champions League or FA Cup Finals.
I'll just write down Dour Davey's and his apologists' excuses here so there will be no surprises after the game:?
"Molineux is always a difficult ground to come to and Wolves are on a high after their very creditable 4 - 4 draw away to Swansea last week. They had nothing to play for so were under no pressure and so were free to do as they want. While the Everton players were tired after a long campaign and are suffering a crop of injuries to vital players in recent weeks."
There... that should do it. (No need for thanks or copyright, Davey!)
Our league record has been impressive recently, so let's finish well.........or we could just ignore that and go on a downer, PB?
Predictably pessimistic Peter. Go on smile Peter, I dare you...
Lyndon, if Chelsea win the FA Cup and finish sixth then seventh will get into Europa so long as Chelsea don't win the CL.
Sam I wasn't being pessimistic I was just giving a prediction of what guys like Dire Davey and YOU will be saying if we lose to the MIGHTY Wolves.
And in doing so Peter you were presuming (hoping?) that we lose. Wherein lies the difference between us.
No Sam not presuming but just reading yours and Daveys minds maybe. I support Everton but not Dour Davey Moyes with whom, in my opinion , we will NEVER win anything. I don't fall gratefully at his feet for all the 'best of the rest' dross he dishes up unlike all the sychophants in the Media and some on here. So lets get rid of him now and get someone who does not CONSTANTLY give the opposition, especially the Red Shite, so much respect.
Peter, you state that you are not presuming and then how we will NEVER win anything. Do you see how that is a contradiction.
Can anyone (incl Sam) back up Sam's 7th place scenario above?
Which scenario is that Shane? The one where Peter B says 'well played boys, a good win' .....surely not?
Eric, is that right?
I thought only 3 clubs go into the Europa. Carling cup winners (Livershite), F.A. cup winners (Chelsea hopefully) and 5th place, currently Newcastle. Leaving no place for 7th, even if Chelsea lose the cup, as Chelsea will still take the last Europa place as the next best league finish (6th).
I think the FIFA ranking has made it so that England only get 3 spots to Europa League.
Two via the cups and 5th league league placing.
If one cup winning team finish among the top 4 then the Europa league place will go to the 6th placed team.
Since Liverpool has finished outside the top 4, then only two spots are left via league placing, 5th and 6th.
Not 100% sure but I think most likely we missed our chance when we lost against the red shite.in the semi final.
Eh, no John. As I said, "Sam's 7th place scenario".
What happened to that fair play thing that Fulham always seem to get in via?
Al, sorry, yes you're right. I must have had a brainstorm.
Lyndon is right, no way for 7th to get in this year.
and no way in for the fair play.
For the sake of our financial state i hope we finish as high as we can.
Regards what Peter is saying regards Moyes i will say this.
I have been a supporter of Moyes since day one,but have recently found it very hard to continue my support of the manager.
I appreciate what the guy has done with the club in raising our expectations etc and the work with the academy and all this brings for the future. He is loyal to the club because he is under no pressure what so ever.
The results against our neighbours i have found very very hard to take this year.
I am firmly in the corner with those who have said that if we had "went for it" in the semi final we would won the match.
It was the same @ old trafford when we went in front and it is always going to be the same as far as i can see.
The manager is a very negative coach and for the life of me i just can not see him taking over at man utd.
It's one thing having no money it's quite another having no balls!!.
When P.Neville came out and said "perhaps we should have been a bit braver" after the loss in the semi-final it summed up it all for me.
Moyes needs to change to win my support, but unfortunately i just can not see him doing this.
I've been as flat as i can ever remember since the semi-final...a match we should have won easily
Eh Sam didn't put forward a 7th place scenario Shane. If its Eric's scenario you meant then no, he is wrong, there's no way into Europa cup now, we blew that chance pre Christmas as usual
Shane...it was a bit of irony mate, lost in translation...and in any case I dont see a scenario from Sam anywhere above.
Personally if we can't make the top 4 I'd pick 7th next and steer well clear of the Europa League, the whole competitions a complete farce. Best out of it.
If we'd had a better star we'd..well...realistically probably have only finished 6th.
A champions league place is becoming more of a distant dream.......yer pays yer money yer gets yer fourth place!
Sorry, but if anyone thinks it's better off to be out of Europe then they are fools. The extra revenue and the attraction of new players alone make qualifying well worthwhile for any team. You think Fellaini or Bily would have signed if we weren't playing in Europe a few years ago? You think we would have had the extra money to buy those players without doing well in Europe? Just getting through the group stages is worth £6 mil plus!!!
Phil #943. Are you referring to the Europa League?? The winners get ?3M; where do you get £6M for the group stages? That's the Champions League.
There's always the Fair Play spot... oh, yeah... right...
Kunal- You get £640 000 for getting to the Europa group stages and a payment of £60 000 for every game played. You then get an extra £140 000 for a win and £70 000 for a draw. If you are going to qualify from the group you will make about £1.5 million. Plus roughly 35 000 crowd at Goodison at roughly £30 a ticket is about a million per game.
So from the group stage alone we've made over £4 mil.
Then to get to the semi would make us almost 2 mil in prize money plus 3 mil from the gates. Then 2 mil for coming second and 3 mil for winning.
All in all it has the potential to make us over 10 mil, raise our profile in Europe and attract more players.
Seems like a no brainer to me!
Jon, surely a lot of those payments in the Europa league would be swallowed up by the expenses the club incurs travelling around europe?
Peter - come on mate! You think the price of flights and accommodation for the away games is going to eat massively into the £4 mil we'd make for the group stages alone. A rough guess the whole tournament would cost us less than £100 000 of the £10 mil.
Even if it is 3 or 5 times that, we would be making much needed millions that could be put towards wages. The arguments against the tournament ate none sensical!
Simple truth is we are a long way off 6th place and 7th doesn't qualify us for anything. Even with the potential extra revenue and prestige from a good Europa League campaign, would it enable us to move up a level next season?
Finishing above the RS is worth something but I want us to be winning things and competing with the best. Having a strong finish to the season will leave me smiling for a while but I suspect that it will be more of a grimace come the end of August.
Peter #962, the team probably fly Ryan Air and stay at youth hostels based on Jon's figures.
Jon, what players were attracted to Fulham due to their Europa Cup Final run?
Jon! I'd still want to play in Europe whatever the cost! It just I know from our recent involvement in Europe the management were bumping their gums about not making much money from it!
Eric, maybe the players could drive to European away games in their own cars, that'd save a bit more money?
Oh yes! Anyone know, if you win the Europa League does that get you a place in the following years CL?
