Burn the Witch!

 Comments (27) jump to end

Wow... so much bile and hate pouring out lately over Fellaini's comments, I thought I was reading a transcript of the Salem witchhunts: "Burn the Belgian! — The Belgian is GUILTY!!!".

So let's say Fellaini wants to move on at the end of the season; well, that's his choice. If we are still going to resort to abusing him for this choice, I certainly hope we remain constant and give any shithouse, greedy twat, traitor et al who decides to leave his club and move from Goodison Park the abuse they deserve... Don't forget, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

As a few people have already stated, if you want loyalty get a dog. The only constant at any club are the fans, it's only us that stay for the full circle of life. Everyone else is just a commodity to be bought and sold and hopefully improve the fortunes of the club. This also goes for managers and owner. At 56, I've seen about 4 owners, 9 managers and countless players come and go and we the fans are still here.

All I ask for is that, whilst a player wears the Blue he gives his best... and when they leave the club, the club tries to get the best deal possible — and we move on. This is the way it's always been; ask Alan Ball if you don't believe me.

Hatred though... it's a corrosive liquid that rusts from the inside — don't do it!

I think you meant ' move to Goodison Park'. I agree mate. Just let them move on for as much money as possible. Good luck to them. Apart from the ones who bad mouth the club, obviously.

Most are not arsed about loyalty, we are Everton, we are used to that, its the fact that people like yourself and sports editors of the Echo are resorting to such write ups, which has knocked the stuffing out of all the feel good vibes around Goodison for the first time in donkeys years, why did he not keep shut, do you think his team mates were happy reading that too?
Tim Cahill no doubt got offers over the years, but did he go and broadcast it everytime he pissed off to play for his country, showing lack of respect for the supporters who love him?
Be ambitious, but show respect too.

Spot on, David, great article. While he is still wearing the blue shirt we should all get behind him every player moves on sooner or later at least he as given us a good few years not like a certain Mr Rooney who at the first chance was off like a rat up a drain pipe.

I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed. When I saw the title of this thread, I thought there was going to be some proper witch-burning action going on. Oh well.

Good article David, maybe "Twitch-Hunt" would have been more appropriate mate.
Though to be fair, his worst critics were Evertonians who were pissed off with the negative news reports: This coming after the best start for ages with a team well capable of a top 4 finish. Hopefully this can all be put to kip now and as far as Fellaini goes, the best thing he can do is play his BEST every game!

Its funny we pay these talented Kids millions to play a game that we would all love to play at that level, then we worship them like gods and when they make comments like Felli we want them burned at the stake.Just because these Kids make so much money does not mean they are any smarter than the average guy on the street. Most of them have never had to think for themslves anyway.
I am not defending Felli and yes I agree if he wants to leave then so be it, but until then when he puts on the blue shirt he better give his all. CYOB.

Deserved to be lambasted over the timing of his public revelations, and people are entitled to their opinions on his ability.

Going forward, it is unlikely that anything positive will be achieved by supporters having a go at him. Leave it to the manager and his team-mates to act as judge and jury and apply the appropriate sentence.

All I want is Felli to play well and keep increasing his price, if sold, a nice big wedge to pay off more debt would do me fine and £20 to buy back Straq!
Like you say, we've all seen countless folks come and go - we're the one constant.

If he says nice things about the club and fans and plays well everyone will smile as he passes by .......then mutter - "watching you, la!".

If he wants to go, you can't blame him.

A footballer's career is short and with Everton he will never reach his aspirations. Contentious on here, I know, but my truth...

Alan (#038) — I think you're underestimating Fellaini's intelligence a wee bit; his comments about him leaving have generated massive interest on sport websites, newspaper columns and Prem fan items across the country. If you were brokering for a more lucrative deal elsewhere then his tantalising hint for leaving to pastures new is going to be the talk until the next transfer deadline day has come and gone. So let's not forget the fact we have only played one really good team up to now and Fellaini is hoping through his comments that he will be on the tip of everyone's tongue for the time being.

As I say, he is clever because all this speculation makes his hand of poker a lot stronger and all we do by talking about the imminent departure strengthens this. He has not seen everything there is to see with us and, unless this current playing staff deliver on the trophy front, his comment about been there, done that, worn the t-shirt won't wash with me.

Look at Lescott, Rodwell and Rooney who have by all accounts took huge shortcuts so their playing careers are festooned with winners medals. Fellaini ain't no different and he will go exactly the same way. We all felt better when Pienaar came back and said "tut tut look at you etc etc, the grass ain't greener" and so on. These players are only interested in themselves and the sooner we realise that and do what Man Utd fans have done to Rooney after he had the cheek to put in a transfer request. They hate him know and the club have already replaced him with a better player in Van Persie. We should do the same and shun him, we are the ones who have put him were he is today so I urge Moyes to buy his replacement and drop the prick a few times because his head is obviously bigger than his barnet!

The funny thing is, when he first arrived he was awful; we fans stuck by him, gave him the love when he was down in the dumps... and this is how he repays us? Fuck him; let him move because to me he is just a slow over-hyped klutz!

I agree most players couldn't give a toss about their clubs, it's all about money these days. There should be a rule at all clubs where only the managers should be allowed to talk about transfers... none of this twitter shite or facefook, they should shut their gobs and play the game to the best of their ability — that's all us fans ever want: 100% effort.

People want loyalty on their terms. Maybe Anichebe is being loyal by not leaving yet all I heard was people saying they wanted him sold.

What you are overlooking was that Felli`s original remarks-and don`t give me `misquoted`-indicated that he wanted out as soon as possible-January for preference. Forget all this dog crap, surely he owes us enough to see out the season. The long-term contract he signed was just to get him a wage rise.

I think all this talk of "Bile and Hatred" is going way over the top. Can you point me towards some of this hatred you refer to? I read pretty much every post on the two articles that there were on this subject and I cant say I saw any hatred. I saw numerous posters saying he was over-rated or they never saw much in him, or that he should be dropped for the next game etc. I saw one that said he should be "left to rot in the ressies". These certainly are emotional reactions and maybe knee jerk, but hatred? I don't think so.

I also saw a lot of posters who would rather believe that Fellaini was misquoted by some dodgy journo and have a go at their fellow Evertonians than believe that Fellaini possibly actually fucked up and said it, be that off the record or whatever. I then saw the same evertonians go on to accept that all was rosy in the garden again once Fellaini's "denial" appeared - despite it clearly NOT being a denial.

Didn't he recently sign a new four-year contract? If players don't want to play for us, fine, but don't sign the fecking contract!

Anto (#124), mate. I was born in 1956 so my match-going managers have been: Catterick, Bingham, Lee, Kendall, Harvey, Walker, Royle, Smith and Moyes. This is not including caretaker managers Eggleston, Burtenshaw, Gabriel (twice), Watson and Kendall's 2 extra visits. Now to start a good thread: Pound for pound, who do you think were the top three?

I know there's so many variables to come into it but my top three would be Catterick, Kendall & Moyes.

Completely agree Dave. I couldn't care less what the press say, the only thing I worry about is how the eleven on the pitch play come match day. As long as they give their all then I am happy.

Although there are a few exceptions - we need to accept that most footballers are really mercenaries (driven on by their puppet maker agents) who move for the best deal they can get. Loyalty and respect are not words in their vocabularies.
