Brazilians playing in the Premier League have been few & far between, especially with any success - and of those that have settled well, barely any strikers so it was so real surprise he struggled. Very young at the time too.

Good luck to him. He wasn't great for us but he tried hard even if it never quite came off for us - his first ever goal for Brazil yesterday and at the Maracana too so I don't suppose he's too unhappy with his lot these days.

But sadly he didn't really flourish under Moyes. Got nothing against him, did try at least, but with his potential, he could have been a lot better.

Oh and Jo was crap by the way!! We dodged a bullet when City out bid us for him in the first place, they can afford that sort of financial mistake, we certainly couldn't have! Absolutely no regrets when it comes to his departure.

I would pit him in a similar category to Bily in what I would call a training ground player. Probably shit hot with next to effort but can't handle the rough and tumble high speed tempo of a real physical Premier League game.

He is playing for Brazil, scoring for them, and looked confident and sharp for the time he was on the pitch. Surely what that says is that when he was here he wasn't being handled correctly.

Jelavic was banging them in and now he isn't. Does that mean he is dogshit? No. It means something is going wrong with his game which needs to be coached out, whether its mechanics or tactics or fitness issues or personal.

We didn't persist with Jo, we dropped Jelavic to the bench and yet we persist with a player who has done nothing but disappoint for season after season. I would rather have worked on developing someone like Jo who clearly had potential and possibly have a consistent striker.

Yakubu had very different problems. He was at least five years older than he claimed to be and became fat and lazy.

The guy was earning at least £80k a week at Man City, and would have cost in excess of £10 million to make the move permanent!! His performances for us were utter shite so why would we ant to spend that on him because there was potential he could possibly be consistent??

A quick search on Wikipedia shows that he's only scored 12 goals in 45 games since leaving Man City permanently. That's a goal every 3.75 games.

It's more frustrating when a player who is talented fails here and flourishes elsewhere. Jo is definitely in that category. The Jo of today is not the same player as the one who some on this thread are ridiculing so mercilessly and you just show your ignorance when you say he can't dribble or trap a ball or worse. Unskilled players don't make it into the Brazilian squad — even as bench fodder.
