Where is this site 'close' to Goodison?
Just heard from the EGM that we are investigating closely a site near Goodison Park.
Anybody got any idea where it could be?

Maybe Bill has re-considered the Loop. I know Liverpool quite well and I cant think of anywhere to put a stadium that can be considered near unless its on one of the local parks. Surely. after all the goodwill shown by the fans at tonight's meeting Bullshit Bill isn't at the bollocks again is he?
BTW, who is Tony Evans? He was on TalkSport tonight talking absolute shite about Everton. Moyes was a legend and how Robero will struggle because he had better funding at Wigan than he will get here. He really did my nut in. Who the fuck is he?

I would think you're the nearest.
Apart from the Park there's nothing close.
Apart from the KD I wish could have got the site from Bestaway, between Scotty and Gt Homer St!!!
Everton in Everton — brilliant!!!

It would be nice to dream about it being in Stanley Park, as we used to play there With this feller though, it will be "coats down" for the goals and bring your own butties.

Buyers? New sites? Press officers? CEO's? Transfers? New toilets? Phone calls per day to Roberto?
It's Bill at his very best, he would put Bernie Madoff to shame. Anyone who believes a word he says should seek immediate help.

It's all the usual stereotyping stuff.....plucky little Everton and Liverpool on the verge of being back where they belong.....blah blah blah.
The channels would be as well going into the Arkles or the Albert on match day and asking the assembled tourists what they thought of Everton.

Apparently,he later went to the States to train as a journalist, wrote a couple of books and returned to work at The Times where he is now Football Editor.
In that post,he`s dropped a few rickets and a quick read of RS sites indicates he is now classed in the` Bullshitter `category.
His frequent appearances on TS have certainly done nothing to indicate that his role at The Times has done anything to curb his pro RS prejudices.
I would love to be in on a Evans/Marshy debate on Merseyside football!

This is the man that said we needed to go to Kirkby because there were zero viable sites within the city boundaries.
All of a sudden there is 7???!!!
Where did these 7 sites suddenly spring from???
I do think we should look into redeveloping Stanley Park. LFC were given planning consent but have abandoned the idea, so it seems viable.
If BK said that Stanley park was a potential site now because LFC were not going to use it then fair enough.....but 7?????
What always traps liars is their inability to tell them consistently. I cannot believe that no one asked him why there are 7 sites when only a few years there were no such viable sites.....according to him!!!!!

I am of the mind that the LCC Finch Farm intervention was an attempt by the Council to be seen to helping both sides. Perhaps Elstone should be talking to `Your Housing`?
773 Posted 27/06/2013 at 10:56:42
It doesn't mention anywhere that it's because of LFC and their original land grab idea (as well as LCC) that the area is now the way it is.

The RS played hardball and it looks to have worked. I wouldn't want Everton to go that way as it's shameful. But something has to be done. Some new shiny corporate boxes would be a start.
849 Posted 27/06/2013 at 14:20:49
Could it not be a smoke screen, to give fans some hope of a new stadium, again?
And his mention of the ground sharing with LFC, saga, maybe he is going to turn it all into a West end show "The dream of Kenwright"
But in fans eyes a nightmare.
857 Posted 27/06/2013 at 14:55:16
Just his polite way of saying `The Chairman`s bullshitting again`?
877 Posted 27/06/2013 at 15:01:35
If the RS have their planning approved for Stanley Park why couldn't we?

Mike the whole point of us moving is for the other lot to be self-contained in their theme park plans - we are being shunted out whether we like it or not and this has been the plan for nearly 2 decades - I don't like it because nowhere will be the same as Goodison, however, at least the distance to WHP, isn't so far from Goodison and the post-code will be L9 as opposed to L4.

It is barely 5 mins walk from the Gwladys st end and is a huge park bounded by Queens Drive (the city ring road) and the East Lancs Rd.
Essentially it's the same location with better transport access and free of streets and houses - the potential would be monumental.
There used to be an open air auditorium there - I won a batman mask and green balloon on pin the tail on the donkey during one of the shows.
I promptly stuck it up my nose like a length of snot on stage to huge applause.
Marvellous times.

Unless it's RS of course.
192 Posted 28/06/2013 at 02:26:46
That's in a great position. Not far from the stations. A short walk up London Rd and as a ready-built car park. Ideal location, I'd say.
The site is certainly big enough.
201 Posted 28/06/2013 at 06:22:58
One of two sites still available in the city are Stonedale Cross as it doesn't look as if Amazon will be moving there and there's been lots of preparation work done; and the top of Edge Lane which is close to the motorway and 5 mins walk from the train station.

The format of Challenge Anneka involved Anneka Rice being given a task to accomplish within a certain period of time, usually two or three days. She was supposed to have no knowledge of what the task of each particular episode would be before it began, and would have to organise its accomplishment by persuading companies and people to contribute their time and resources for free. The task would usually be in aid of a charitable cause, for example building a play area for children within the local community, or something similar.
Admit a couple of days might not be enough time, but you get the idea :)
372 Posted 28/06/2013 at 15:31:12
Imagine an accident of history and both Everton and Liverpool played in, say, Dingle and Toxteth. Someone suggests a new ground....hey, how about Calderstones Park or , even better, Sefton Park. The massed ranks of teachers , social workers, lawyers, drug barons who reside in the south end would ensure it would never happen
384 Posted 28/06/2013 at 16:11:33
I agree with you that the South end get more investment, and if this rumour is true, surely it would be great for the areas around Rice Lane and Walton which need vast sums of regeneration money.
EFC would put the pride back in the north end by building a 55,000-seater stadium with all the mod cons. Do you think Everton would bring this area down if they moved? I don't think so!
388 Posted 28/06/2013 at 16:24:59

Right in between town and the motorway, with its own train station, equidistant to north and south of the city and lots of land to develop on.
There's not a lot going on on Edge Lane at the moment, there's lots of unused space all along it, a brand new Stadium would be an advertisment for the city right on the main route into town.
Stonedale? KEIOC may be tempted to fire some flack up at that one (even if it is in the city boundry), aren't we moving to Kirby again (or should I say Kirkby, to be correct/posh) .
Walton Hall Park is furthest I believe we should go, but even that feels like we're out of the way.
495 Posted 28/06/2013 at 20:36:29
Great memories.....or was it Woolton? Both sound familiar.
It was a big day out back then..
690 Posted 29/06/2013 at 15:41:23
I know Andy Dunn quite well, he doesn't support any team; as a young lad, he didn't like footy, his dad is a Red and his older brother used to go home and away with the Blues.
712 Posted 29/06/2013 at 16:41:05
The only ones I could think of are Gilmoss which was mentioned years ago, or the Bestway site where Guiness used to be based, or maybe we can build one on Stanley Park if there is any of it left after the Shite develop the Tin Mine!

Seeing Liverpool2 has just 'broken ground' (albeit underwater!) could this have floated to the surface again?.

"It would depend on the funding package."
Nothing to see here...
956 Posted 30/06/2013 at 12:53:51
We don't appear to have the money to buy some Primark jumpers for goal posts, let alone build a load of stands & a car park.
Where exactly is this fantasy money going to come from?
Stadiums are rather pricey these days. Seems like a non-starter to me.

Also, up until the age of 9 I used to live just off Miller's Bridge in Bootle. The area between Bank Hall Station and Miller's Bridge has some business units but is hardly thriving. That has also come into my mind in the past.
260 Posted 01/07/2013 at 15:10:53
That's the industrial part of Bootle. Brasenose Rd just off Millers Bridge. My mate use to have a pub on Millers Bridge, the Toll Bar. Along time ago now. But I know were you mean. Linacre Lane area. Not been around there for a while, so really know if it's still derelict mate.
Do you know were the old corpy yard was in Long Lane Aintree? That is a large site, lots of land and still un built on.
346 Posted 01/07/2013 at 18:55:29
350 Posted 01/07/2013 at 19:10:51
It still makes me angry to think we were told there was 'absolutely nowhere aprt from Kirkby' that a site for a stadium existed.
Total lies to get what Green and BK wanted. Never let the truth get in the way, eh?
368 Posted 01/07/2013 at 20:00:38
By the way, the whole area on the Bootle/Litherland border on Hawthorne Road (Mike Hughes #173 is being developed for housing. It's too far from GP in any case, it's in Sefton and to be honest the transport links aren't good enough. I'm only up the road, but it's a thumbs down from me.
Edge Lane makes sense, but I just don't like the idea of moving from north Liverpool (unless it was the city centre of course).
385 Posted 01/07/2013 at 20:50:27
Edge Lane is the most central spot outside the city center, with it's own train station and plenty of land to develop on and it's a real show piece of a venue being on the main road into the city of the motorway.
Get that site and we increase the chances of a potential buyer, it will also raise the profile of the club to anyone coming into the city - It's a winner!
392 Posted 01/07/2013 at 21:25:14
A year or so ago, Liverpool Vision (Max Steinberg) were openly talking about the problems of regenerating north Liverpool which they saw as a big potential challenge. Given that the Anfield area is planned to be redeveloped, I hope that isn't the end of it.
While I would prefer the historical north Liverpool links to be maintained, Edge Lane is another reasonable possibility. Coming into the city from that direction gives a really bad impression. It's like a war zone in places.
It's also more accessible and more visible than the Anfield area for the tourist / shopping visitor - therefore raising our profile further.
Why not use Everton FC as the catalyst for improving the city? Edge Lane would look great painted royal blue and white all the way from the end of the M62 / Queens Drive and beyond.
413 Posted 01/07/2013 at 22:13:02
Don't remember the Toll Bar pub but our local when I was a kid was The Glendower on St John's Road (it's gone now) which was just around the corner from Bank Hall station.
There's very little around that way. Derelict really. On the Bootle / Kirkdale border - possibly get a footprint in Liverpool (but better than Kirkby).
Edge Lane a good shout by some above.
