Blackpool 2 - 0 Everton [FT]

Everton's pre-season gets back on track with a short trip up the Lancashire coast to Blackpool. All senior players should be available, including Leighton Baines, who has revealed he has only taken a week off after a busy summer. Live coverage is available to subscribers on EvertonTV. Kick off: 3:00 pm BST.

Everton scored on their first attack, a great cross from Pienaar headed in by Fellaini but strangely ruled out for offside.

Mucha had to make a good save. Keith Southern then left the field. Osbourne got another one on target for Blackpool that forced another fine save from Jan Mucha.

Both sides rang the changes at the break, Howard, Osman and Anichebe coming on for Everton.

Blackpool had been pressing the blues all game and they hot there just rewards on 64 mins whe a simple ball in from a corner was met with a free header by Sylvester that easily beat Howard in the Everton goal.

It didn't get any better as more of David Moyes's squad were rolled out, and Blackpool's kids scored a soft second goal to wrap things up, despite Anichebe hitting the bar. Not exactly inspiring stuff from the Blues, who played as if they'd spent the last week on the beach instead of training hard for the new season.

Perfect opportunity for Moyes to offer Vic in exchange for Mat Phillips.

Sadly Kevin the lad literally only uses his right leg to stand on. He can only kick with his left and we are sorted there now. I believe Wigan are interested in Victor? If Moyes can reinvest then yes sell because he just hasn't quite convinced me he will ever be anything more than an impact sub at best.

I'm with you Gareth that Vic has to go really, his wages do not justify his input, and if Wigan are genuinely interested in Vic then it would be great if that could be a part player part cash deal for moses, though I doubt that will happen.

#839 Mat Phillips is right footed, perhaps you're thinking of Ince?

What baffles me most about Vic is his strength. He has none. The guy is up their with Distin in terms of physique, but on the field he has zero effectiveness.

I still harbour some hope that he could play like he did before that horror challenge from Nolan(?).

If someone offers £2mill I say get rid. What is he? A striker that can't shoot or a winger that can't cross or dribble?

Yes, I think it would be a good move to get shut of Anichebe as he is not a Premier League player; he is no use to us.

He's not a shit striker or a shit winger. He's just shit. And never worth 2mill.

I remember Vic a few seasons ago in Europe. He showed what strength he has in quite a few games.

Before Nolan did him, I held quite high hopes for the lad. Injuries since have hampered his development but I still think he can play a part this season.

He isn't shit and I'd want more than £2 million if we sold.

Victor has occasionally demonstrated that he has a decent shot, some skill and an ability to use his considerable physique. He could be a good player. Unfortunately he has also exhibited a very poor attitude on the pitch, going down hurt far too easily and whining at his team mates.
He's exasperating to watch, and must be worse to play alongside and manage.

I envy those of you going today. A top day out all round. I am looking forward to trying to watch the game on evertontv, not holding my breath though. (We are even money to win by the way, and it's also evens for over 2.5 goals, may pay for a few beers...)

I really wanted Vic to succeed when he came on the scene, but as has been pointed his attitude leaves a lot to be desired, I put this down to choosing to represent Nigeria and hanging round with Yak and Yobo both of whose attitude to Everton and life in general stank.
He seemed to go downhill rapidly from that point. Also I think we can get £2-3 mill for him not the measly 1 that's been quoted or use him as a makeweight in whatever deal Moyes sees fit.
As for today I think a nice 5-2 win will do nicely and a dodgy pen for Hibbo to break his duck with in midweek!

Yes Phil you're right, I have seen him at left wing. He has also played right back; would his flexibility convince Moyes to part with the sort of money Blackpool would demand? I notice he isn't playing today, could he already be in talks with a club?
