Moyes glowing over Blues triumph

David Moyes was impressed with the quality of his side's performance: "The first half, I said to the players, at times it was as good as I've seen for a long time at Everton," the manager said after the game. "We missed a few chances before we scored but we played very well.

"We have won two out of two. We've always been good finishers to a season, and we've just got to make sure it doesn't happen in reverse.

"The job is to keep us going in the right direction. If you win two, it gets you off to an initial good start but you are judged a bit more after 10 games."

He was pragmatic about the size of his playing squad, though, and the risk posed by injuries if he isn't able to add to his squad before next week's transfer deadline.

"I don't think it is my strongest squad (ever)," he cautioned. "We have just not got any injuries at the moment.

"I've got a bit of cover in some places but the numbers are down. But the flexibility we've got in the squad with Naismith, Fellaini, [Leon] Osman, [Kevin] Mirallas, means we can cover things.

"But if we lost any group of numbers, we'd be struggling.

"I'd like to add to the squad if we could just to make sure we've got enough bodies. If I can add a loan or something came up which we could manage, then I would look to do it."

Seems to me like Moyes is saying to the board "Back me or I'm gone" with his contract running down...

Kevin, WTF? — where do you pluck that inference from?

Paul, because instead of people enjoying what is potentially as good an Everton side that has been seen for many a year, they persist in this fanciful theory that Moyes is undermining the system from within. Yet again he is quoted that the sale of Rodwell was his decision.

Just enjoy the footy Kev. Moyes and Kenwright are tight. Accept it!

Just think it seems funny that he's in the last year of his contract and all of a sudden he's getting what he wants. I'm probably reading too much into it, and I'm certainly not complaining, I'm loving our football right now and long may it continue!

Didn't read the comments like Kevin either, not in the context of this win.

But, in general, Kev got it right. I believe absolutely Moyes is holding up signing a new contract to see if our owners will get more ambitious with moving the Club up the Table.

Fine by me. So far, so good.

Well he deserves a bit of a glow, we all do from time to time.

We're playing really, really, REALLY great footie - fancy us against anyone at this rate.

I didn't make my original comment from the article, it was made in general speak, been thinking it for a few months now cos the board/kenwright have bent over backwards for him, and rightly so, if this is the way Moyes gets the board to get his business done then maybe he should have yearly rolling contract, we'll be league champions in 2 years. Well, I can dream eh.
