No disciplinary action for Fellaini

A number of the major mdeia sources are carrying this Press Association story confidently predicting that Marouane Fellaini will not be disciplined by Everton for the rather unfortunate comments attributed to him in the Belgian press suggesting he could leave the Blues as early as January.

'Sources' at Everton insist the 24-year-old has never given any indication of angling for a move having signed a lucrative five-year contract last November and Fellaini himself moved to play down his comments in a statement yesterday.

The midfielder is not expected to be sanctioned by the Club when he returns to Finch Farm this week, but manager David Moyes may want some clarification, particularly as the big Belgian has become a lynchpin in the Everton team.

I don't think punishment is appriopriate in this case, I think that will just make a problem a crisis. Fellaini has been daft, but has broken no club rules in my reckoning. My line would be "If you really want to go, then put yourself right in the shop window, give us a good season of your very best, and you have our blessing in the summer - go where you want. But first, you owe us a full season."

Quite right the club don't fine him.

...But I find the fluffy, fire-dousing, retroactive PR, way more disconcerting.

"A number of the major newspapers are confidently predicting that Marouane Fellaini will not be disciplined by Everton..."

The same "news"papers that are happy to publish gossip from Twitter, and prodigiously use Google Translate to lift out-of-context quotes and spin them as fact.

Little surprise that audited circulation figures are in terminal decline.

Spot on, Mark Tanton — get us in the Champions League, big man and win us a cup.

Then you can go out on a high.

Spot on Richard. 2013 isn't going to be any different than 2009, 2011 or 2012.
