I saw the game and I think Barkley is way off match fitness. I doubt one month down there will do Barkley any good, Sheffield Wednesday is a shite team, a really poor and slow defence.

To me, Barkley can do that month, but then he might as well come back to us. His fitness will have become a little better, but his skills will stay the same.

I can not imagine why Moyes chose Sheffield Wednesday for Barkley. They have a decent couple of strikers but that is it. Today, Barkley was hardly allowed the ball, probably because he is off the pace at the moment.

If Barkley is lacking this much in match fitness then how is Junior doing???? Junior right now is in front of Barkley, but we have not even seen Junior on the bench since he came back from injury.

Keep it up youngster. Show us what you can do in a run of games against grown-ups.

Just some quotes from Owls fans.

"Our only real quality player."

"Superb today and was on a different wavelength to everyone else."

"He'll turn out to be a world class player IMO."

"Looks too good to be playing alongside half the mongs in our team. Bet he's counting down the days till he's back home to Everton."

I can understand these comments; why did Moyes choose Sheffield Wednesday when he should be playing for one of the big promotion-chasing sides?

Barkley was out of shape but he had some decent attempts in his passing, while the rest of the midfield was much more less direct then Barkley.

I just think Barkley is a bad fit for the "Owls"; too much responsibility to carry the midfield on his own. Also, he should have played further forward since they were at their home ground.

Barkley will, as I said, get his match fitness back, but I doubt he will come away from there a better player; the rest of the team is too weak.

I really hope Moyes will recall him after his month is up, Barkley should be playing for Wolves, Bolton or Blackburn — there he will have real competition for places.

Good to see Barkley take that penalty, he needed that goal I think.

Did anyone else watch the game and do you also think that Barkley is too good to stay there?

Danny Cadamarteri also scored from the spot - for Carlisle

How old is Cadamarteri now? He must be at least 45...

Nice to hear the Owls fans' comments about Ross though.

Jimmy, I think the point of him going to Wednesday is to get some games. There's no point sending him out to a team where there's competition for places because he may find himself on the bench.

Jimmy, Barkley playing week-in and week-out for a team in which he is likely to start and be a 'go-to' player is exactly what he needs. I suspect he will extend his loan and come back a more rounded player after experiencing proper competitive football as opposed to empty crowds at U21 games.

The fact that Barkley took the penalty, and indeed was allowed to, suggests that he is very confident and highly thought of. I was against him going on loan but I now agree with Sam #441. By January, he might be like a new quality signing.

Andy #442 "By January he might be like a new quality signing."

You Kenwright luvver you! Getting the excuses in early. Please get back to posting about Moyes, "Is he or isn't he" or about Coleman and Duffy being defensive lynchpins.

You sound a little upset Matt - could it be that the obvious achievements of Moyes (and Kenwright) in getting our current squad together are spoiling your Sundays?

Of course they do nothing right. Or could it be that you are a bit of a nutter?

Anyone notice the comments by Moyes on wanting Barkley to get expeirence in the Championship? Something along the lines of "he is better off making mistakes elsewhere". Well just how many times did our Captain Pip give the ball away yesterday??? Maybe it should be Pip going out on loan to Sheff Weds. The fact we won three-nil away from home covers up the poor performance from Neville. I can't wait till Gibson is back and hopefully Barkley will be joining him in the next few months.

Cadamarteri is only 32.

Andy, if you see the penalty, you'll see he has no hesitation. He runs over and snatches the ball straight away.

Very confident.

Nice one, I believe that too. Well, Barkley himself agreed to that loan-deal as well. He's got his talents, no wonder he's coming back to us stronger, still building up his muscles and getting experience, he's still young and maturing in the right direction.
