More recognition for evertonfc.com

Everton's official web site has been voted "Best In Class" at the internationally-recognised Interactive Media Awards reflecting the continuing work that the Communications team has put into the Club's online presence.

The site, developed by Merseyside-based agency Ripple Effect, scored 480 out of a 500 for design, content, functionality, usability and standards compliance and was recognised alongside the San Francisco 49ers Stadium website in the sport category.

Mark Rowan, Everton's Head of Media and Communications, said: "This award is welcome recognition for the hard work and effort put in by everybody associated with the official Club site. We have a strong, talented team who work on the site to deliver engaging, informative and varied content.

"We are constantly striving to improve and enhance our offering and it is hugely satisfying that those efforts have been recognised in this way."

They keep racking up the awards don't they!

I never found the site particularly special to be honest. However I then went on a few other club sites. Chelsea, Man City, Spurs...they're all awful. Brimming with adverts and so difficult to navigate. Fair play to EFC.

Is this a route into Europe as a replacement for the fair play award?

Seriously? I'm astounded. I hate the site for the unrealistic positive spin on the reporting, and the bloated nature of it – the fact you HAVE to have some video playing in the background, and loads of irrelevant pictures. That's a real issue if you live on a boat and access the internet through a 3G phone modem!

What's more, TW and GOT always seemed to break news sooner than the OS.

Having said that – I could be out of date – I haven't looked for two years or so – since the compulsory video started. Everton are blessed with a number of much superior fan based sites, so no need for me to look at the OS.

'I haven't looked for two years'. Do you realise how ridiculous your comments sound when you throw that in at the end? So you spend your post criticising a site you haven't looked at for two years, when it has just won an award for best in content for the last 12 months? What a completely pointless comment.

The Club's iPad app is very good as well IMO. Still the same glad-handed smiley steaming bullshit fan comments. But the app itself is good.

I agree with Chris re the videos playing in the background automatically on the main site. Very, very annoying.

But overall the Club's web-based communications are pretty good and have improved over the last few years greatly.

It’s not as good as ToffeeWeb.

Andy - not poinless - but you missed my point. If one doesn't like something, don't do it. If I don't like a beer, after a few goes (a goodly sample you understand) , I stop drinking it. I don't read newspapers, because they're full of rubbish made up to sell copy. I don't buy a paper every day to check if it's rubbish because that would be illogical and pointless.

I wait until I hear otherwise and check it out. I did, after my post, ... it hasn't changed. It's still too bloated, cluttered and memory hungry. The OS can be what it likes, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. If memory serves, I stopped looking at it after it had won a previous award too.

My post would be more ridiculous if I withheld the fact that I hadn't looked for two years, and had expressed a dishonest and invalid opinion. I do not believe that my honest account is 'ridiculous' - but will admit to it being limited to the latest available sample of data. If you want to waste a post saying my post was ridiculous, then it is your choice.

My opinion, that I will "spend my post" saying, is that TW is much, much better.

Don't really visit it any more. I used to pay the fee for Everton TV to get the 50 minute highlights but I have stopped using it now.

It is a well developed site though.

It's a pity they can't say that about the board.

I hate the design. The fact that they still have a fucking landing page in the year 2012 is enough to cheese me off. Much prefer TW's clean layout. It won't win any design awards but it does what a website is supposed to do very well, relays as much information to the viewer in as few clicks as possible.

This cracks me up. I've always thought the site was awful. It seems horribly managed, their content isn't always up to date, and certain sections like the 'match gallery' is always lacking. Seriously, 8 photos, directly from the club? They should have a continuous stream of fantastic hi-res photos for us fans. Shouldn't be difficult, they have in house photographers. The layout feels cluttered to me and certain links are dead-ends. But, perhaps that's most club sites as someone mentioned..? Best of a bad bunch? I know people who do graphic design and code websites that could and would re-do that site very easily.

Also, people are always talking about how the club doesn't do enough in taking advantage of PR opportunities outside of the UK. Well, we need look no further than City's youtube channel, it's genius, and very easy to shoot and edit; I'll even go out on a limb and say fun! I watch them all the time. I get pissed when I see the media recycle video content from last season, when it's obvious the players are wearing LCS, while other clubs may as well get live streams of their training. That's the type of viral content an 'intern' could work on. Wouldn't cost much either. Just a few thoughts on the matter.

I would like to thank all you Blue fans and ToffeeWeb for their brilliant articles and write-ups about the match and all things Everton.

I have been a Blue for 40 years and this is the first season I have been unable to go the match due to ill health but am getting better and hopefully be back after Christmas. My nine-year-old goes the games with a friend of mine and gives me the rundown which is good but then I go in here and read the news the rights and wrongs of the game and other issues concerning my beloved blues and that is why am thanking the ToffeeWeb lads and all its members for keeping me up to date

I hope to be back with you all in the New Year...

Thank You.

Michael are you the one me and my mate went to Bolton with in 1977 and drove up to Glasgow to watch Celtic before driving back to watch Everton v Wimbledon in 1989?

At Bolton we got hijacked and had to listen to the radio commentary in some pub, I think you and your 2 friends got in to see the match! Get well soon regardless of whether you are the same person.
