Uproar over disgusting Suarez bite

, 21 April, 346comments  |  Jump to most recent

Following the astounding incident at Anfield where Luis Suarez tried to take a bite out of Ivanovich's arm — and yet, incredibly, remained on the field to score an equaliser for Liverpool beyond the minimum 6 minutes of added time — the controversial striker has been charged with violent conduct and will be banned for the upcoming Merseyside derby on 5th May.

[Editor's Note: I don't normally like to feature anything on here about Liverpool, but this is another utterly disgusting episode for that hated club — compounded by the failure of the referee to act — and it has surely incensed all fans of football.]

I've seen it all now... Suarez bit Ivanovich. He bit another player!

Unreal!

They really are a bunch of bastards and Suarez is their Bezebul.

Jamie, they've just highlighted it on TV, I wonder if the FA will do anything about it. Whatever, LFC will produce a tee shirt...

Odds on we won't have to deal with Suarez for the Derby. Apparently he has form, and is known as "The Cannibal" in the Netherlands.
Michael Kenrick
4 Posted 21/04/2013 at 17:31:08
That was astounding, Jamie. At least the commentators are giving it their all. 26 cameras... one musta caught it for the video panel.

But them twats will come out with some shite like "That's how you express friendliness and appreciation of skill in his culture"

And this 'Bezebul' gives me a bit of an editing conundrum:

Beelezbub? Devil incarnate...

Or

Alouatta belzebul? — Red-handed howler monkey!?!

[How cool is that last one, with his penalty gaff!!!]

He was banned for several games for biting a player in Holland.
Paul Ferry
6 Posted 21/04/2013 at 17:32:51
He did, sewer-rat clearly took a chunk out of his shoulder. There are 26 cameras at Anfield today! Let's see what pass-the-buck Brenda has to say about this. Oh his mouth just slipped. This will be a long ban and my guess is, just in the same way that he checked out of Holland, he will now check out of the Prem.

A true living scum. Ugly racist cheating cannibal.

Although a little part of me loves that he plays for the Shite.

Nessie, What would Shanks say? and all that...

Disgusting by Ratboy, if there was ever a person you want deported, it's him.

Why should we have this dirty, cheating scumbag in our country?

He should be given a 10-match ban as a deterrent.

Disgusting behaviour.

Michael -

Definitely meant devil incarnate. Images of the Deceiver feasting on flesh in his flaming realm surrounded by his minions.

Spell check didn't catch my gaff and I was entirely too eager to post - couldn't believe what I saw!

I would have taken a ban and beaten the shit out of him. Kudos to Ivanovich. How he didn't just beat that little shit senselessly is beyond me.

Phil Sammon
14 Posted 21/04/2013 at 17:41:13
The ref spoke to Suarez and Ivanovic. He saw the incident. I reckon the video panel won't be able to act on it.

Nice studs up challenge from Sturridge there too. What a lovely team.

Just seen it again, it's crystal clear. One less thing to worry about for the derby, I suppose. I just can't wait for Brenda's post-match tripe that will, needless to say, feature the usual well I haven't seen it yet ...

If the Shite have any last shred of dignity, they would make the first move and issue a club suspension/penalty. Let's wait and see.

David Greenwood
20 Posted 21/04/2013 at 17:47:32
Phil, ref couldn't have seen the incident. He saw the aftermath, both players on the floor. If he had seen him bite him he would have red carded him, no doubt about it.

Hefty ban for the sewer rat on the way...

Phil Sammon

Hope so, mate.
Paul Ferry
22 Posted 21/04/2013 at 17:49:16
There is no way, Phil, that the FA will not take action on this assault. The Ref didn't see it or he would have taken action. He got involved afterwards when Ivanovic went to complain to him about it.

Sewer-rat, Sturridge, and that ugly fuck Shelvy booked 47 seconds after coming on with a limb lunge. A club, quite frankly, that is a pale shadow of its former self in more ways than one.

Sky showing Suarez apparently limping out of the ground. Have RS told him to? So they don't need to suspend him but just declare him unfit for the next few weeks?
Patrick Murphy
40 Posted 21/04/2013 at 18:22:31
It gives them a good excuse to sell him though doesn't it, apparently when he did it at Ajax, it was his last game for them as they sold him. Mind you it might knock a few bob off the price, pity Sky didn't question his still being on the pitch to score when he did Distin and Mirallas.

We may not win many trophies but we know our football and can spot a bad apple when we see one, I wouldn't let him play for Everton even if he paid the club to do so.

It's the shite, the FA will probably say the ref saw nothing wrong with it and therefore take no action.

In fact, because we are moaning at the fact one footballer bites another they will call us bitter blues, deduct us ten points and so they do not go to waste give them to Anfield!!!!!

Ross Edwards
47 Posted 21/04/2013 at 18:26:17
It wouldn't suprise me if the FA review the footage and conclude that it's inconclusive. Knowing that the FA are full of idiotic, biased morons, they won't do anything. I bet if it was a Chelsea player, the RS scum would have been all over the ref trying to get him sent off, and Brenda would have been moaning, but he mysteriously "didn't see it", and if it was a Chelsea player, the FA would have given him an 8 or 9 match ban.

We cannot allow this cannibal, racist, cheating, diving scum to get Player of the Year. He should be deported back to Uruguay immediately. If he wants to carry on behaving like Hannibal Lecter, he can go back to South America.

Ross Edwards
48 Posted 21/04/2013 at 18:34:32
No doubt they will pull the injury card, Brent. That would significantly reduce the ban and get sympathy from the FA dinosaurs watching.

Brent Stephens

Yes, Ross. I think showing Suarez limping out of the ground is possibly a ruse by RS so they can say they don't need to address the question of whether they will suspend him from the next game or so as he's already unfit. And/ but FA will do their bit.

Got to love the way Brenda and then Rafa conveniently "didn't see the incident" and then declined to comment on the incident.

Makes you laugh the way the way Liverpool is touted as this high and mighty holier than thou we can't do no wrong football club and yet time and time again when guilty of any wrong doing by its employees they always adopt the whiter than white, "Oh it couldn't possibly have been us, your honour!" attitude. Bunch of cunts if you ask me....

Paul Ferry

I agree Dean and last year's tee-shirts tell us all we need to know about the culture at the shite these days. That all said, I actually do expect the shite to move over the next 24 hours or so to suspend sewer-rat (isn't he out for 2 games anyway, so it's hardly biting the hand that feeds them, so to speak).

Idiot on 606 saying there's no precedent for a major player biting someone in a big match. Er, er? Sewer-Rat's attack on the PSV fella.

Shite fan on 606, an elbow on Carragher is just as bad as what Saurez is said to have done

'What is the difference between stamping on someone and biting someone. Stamping is far more dangerous': asshole on 606. And, Dear Lord, he's 'passionate and south american'. Shite fan on radio saying punching is worse than biting, it hurts more and we're getting OTT about this: erm, biting, blood infections, and, quite frankly, am I wrong about this, biting is somehow more nasty and sub-human than punching.

Ha, I can't believe I just heard this: shite fan saying its a cultural thing, you know in Uruguay biting someone is a sign of affection and recognition. I kid you not, I just heard it.

So, stamping happens all the time, not condoning it by the way, and exactly how many times in the last two decades has a player bitten an opponent? Er, 47, 26, 11, no I think it's one: sewer-rat, biter, cheater, diver, racist ...

Think back to Felli at Stoke and the headbutt. DM out straight away, didn't shy away from it, saw it, condemned his man, told the truth.

Now we have BR saying he didn't see it, wants to see it again, talks about an elbow on Carragher, doesn't mention Sturridge on Bertrand. Scumbag.

After Felli at Stoke, Lawrenson, Hansen and the rest of the RS TV luvvies were saying it should be a nine game ban, wonder what they will be saying tonight.

Disgusting animal. Nail head there boys. I didn't think this piece of excretia could get any worse but, true to form, he's proved me wrong. Fuck the amount of added on time, that pondlife shouldn't have been on the pitch to equalise Still if there's any justice in the world, this piece of shit will be getting a nice little 3-match ban.

I see Ted Rodgers coming out with the usual "I never seen it" line. Well, Sky offered him the chance to look at it and he refused saying he ll look at it later. But the worst was that smug bitter cunt Gerrard saying he's a genius he's been the best player in the league by a mile and all yous want to talk about is the unsavoury incidents..." — too fucking right, you cunt!

God, what a shabby tawdry little club they have become. And people ask me why I'm so bitter. Still it was nice to hear Sourness and Redknapp condemning the prick. That scummy club will only condemn because it will be expected of them. Behind the walls of Greyskull they are probably not the slightest bit embarrassed by the actions of that twat. Absolutely no class whatsoever. Rogers has already called Queen Kenny to ask where he got the T Shirts printed last time. How proud I am to be an Evertonian.

Remember what happened to Tony Kay, Peter Swan and David Layne when they bet against their team (Sheff Wed) back in 1962, and more recently the jail sentence Big Dunc endured for head butting an opposing player in 1995.

Now maybe Suarez's biting offence will not be seen in the same light as the betting scandal (pathetic FA wimps won't have the balls to defend the game when a sky 4 player is in the dock) but it's most definitely comparable to big Dunc's head butting offence. Particularly when you take into account that Suarez is a serial offender.

This game stinks at the moment, dominated by money and sycophants sucking up to the money clubs. Poor Tony Kay and the others were crucified for their mistake, when players were hardly paid a pittance, and their careers destroyed for a moment of madness. The modern day player seems to get away with equally illegal offences and at best get a slapped wrist.

Let's hope the correct decision is made and this incident is prosecuted to the fullest extent.

The game needs a morally correct example to be set.

Paul #716, to be fair I think the fan that said it was a sign of affection was being a tad ironic, given that in his defence for the racism charge he claimed that "Negrito" was a sign of affection.

If Ivanovic had pissed Suarez off that much, why didn't he swing for him? It wouldn't be right, but who the fuck bites someone in a football match?!? Total disgrace!

This event drove me to look on a Liverpool forum for the first time in my life just to see what their fans reaction is. Half are ashamed of his behaviour and want rid, the other half are saying this behaviour can be tolerated because of his goals.

I hope to god if Everton ever had a player who acted this appallingly we would do the right thing and send him packing, despite how good they may be!!!

If the FA have any balls, they should suspend the cretin for the rest of the season and cancel his equalising goal coz he shouldn't have been on the pitch, making an example of his behaviour (not just this one game).

What will happen? A slap on the wrist and a winning goal scored in the next derby by this odious little man.

Would Ivanovich have been scorned and castigated?

It still astounds me he didn't jack him right then and there.

I wouldn't have blamed him for a second and would have applauded it.

How can you be bitten and not respond? I would have kicked the crap out of the guy or gone down trying.

I am genuinely curious! Would Ivanovich, if he turned and just put that little shit down, have been criticized?

Suarez should be banned from club football for a full season, banned for life by the FA from English football, and banned for life from international-level football by FIFA. Normally you would want a punishment to be a deterrent, but apart from Suarez, who else is biting other players?
Ray Griffin
180 Posted 21/04/2013 at 23:00:41
Poor old Suarez is a much misunderstood player, apart from:

Being a cheat (handball v Ghana in WC Quarterfinal);
Getting Rodwell sent off;
Handball v Mansfield;
Punching a player off the ball (v Chile),
Twice biting opposition players; and, oh yeah,
Being a racist.

Other than that, the lying, cheating, horrible, obnoxious little cunt makes his way into the Players Player of the Year and is still one of Sky Sports favorites.

Bottom line – he's a scumbag.

Unbelievable!! The ref adds on an extra 3 mins for the delay before Chelsea's penalty was taken due to Gerrard, Carragher and Co haranguing him! Then, just to rub salt into it, two players who should have been red-carded combine to grab a 97th minute equaliser.

I've got no time for Souness (why do Sky have two RedShites in the box?) but he didn't sit on the fence after the game, slated the horrible twat.

John, 6 mins was over the top (never mind the extra 40 seconds) but the ref was afraid to blow at 6½ mins as Liverpool were attacking. Goal is scored and ref blows up as soon as Chelsea kick off.

Patrick Murphy

I wish they would introduce something similar to what they do in Rugby, signal that time is up but as soon as the ball next goes out of play the game is over, it would benefit everyone and I can't see a problem with it. By stipulating that the ball must leave the field of play you wouldn't be able to foul an opponent to end the game.

Thanks Ray. I just watched the highlights and didn't see anything to justify the 4th official holding up 6 minutes.

Didn't the ref in a recent game (Arsenal?) blow for HT just as we were about to take a corner?

Curiosity has just had me checking one of their fans forums, what a bunch of semi-literate dickheads!

It was a virtuoso performance by Ratboy today: pushing, pulling, kicking out, handling, faking injury, sarcasm, biting, punching and protesting. The only thing that prevented him scoring a perfect 10 is that he didn't dive today, for a change.

The RS fans must be so proud to cheer him on. As a more discerning football fan, I wouldn't have him playing for us no matter how talented he is.

If LFC really gave a shit about this they'd ban him themselves for the rest of the season rather than wait for the FA's decision. Their statements completely meaningless.

As for the FA.... less than 7 games means they're more lenient that the Dutch, not sure whether it matters. If they give him more than 8 though they could be viewed as saying bitings worse than racism.....? Hmmmm..... not going to happen.

My moneys on a 5 match ban and a healthy fine. If he turns out against us I give up.

It's going to be very interesting to see what Rodgers does about this. At the very least, he should suspend Suarez for the rest of the season, irrespective of whatever punishment the FA decide to impose. He says that "noone's bigger than this football club" - fine, so prove it, by doing what any other Premiership manager would do. It's time for Liverpool football club - and its fans - to show their true mettle.
Kev Johnson

I loath Suarez — him being a nasty, cheating, sneaky, diving, biting vile git and all — but, unlike most posters on here, I don't hate LFC.

I had a look on the Red and White Kop website and, from what I could see, there was almost uniform condemnation of his actions.

Steve Edwards
195 Posted 21/04/2013 at 23:26:51
What was more interesting for me was Liverpool supporters being interviewed regarding the incident after the game on Sky. They were almost all condoning what he did but one piece of work actually asked the interviewer to prove that he bit him, "Did you see the bite marks. Prove it". It's what I always have said about Liverpool supporters, not all but a significant number are simply gutter snipes who have latched onto a club that suits their low character. They couldn't be anything else but Liverpool supporters. I've scraped better off my shoe.

According to Alan Hansen no-one was hurt, it's happened before, and really, what's the fuss about? Colin Murray seemed to find it amusing too. So, let's give him the PFA award and move on.

Sorry, I can't move on yet. Murray referred to him as a flawed genius, That actually makes me want to vomit. Pele was a genius(as a footballer) so was Best, yes he was flawed, but only in harming himself. Suarez is an excellent player but isn't fit to lace the boots of Best, Pele, Cruyff etc.

None of those great players were cowards, racists or deliberately tried to end the career of another professional. If Phil Neville wants to be an Everton legend, he should play in the derby, hope that Suarez isn't yet banned, then snap him in two with a tackle that will see him looking for a new career.

I agree with almost everything on here, particularly Tim Jones. But why are we so outraged? The guy behaved exactly as we would expect him to. In the Derby he "got" Mirallas and Distin with vicious and evil challenges, he admitted he dived against Stoke .... he is just one pathetic pondlife creature, and I see no merit in talking about him.

You know what gets me? Sturridge puts in a good hard cross actually right towards Pondlife, who gets in a great header to score. He is a dwarf pond life, but he scores headed goals, whereas our two 6 foot centre-forwards never actually win a header. Why is that? Are they just crap, or are our crosses just "lobbed" centres. Bainesy is an exception to this normally.

Or maybe our failure to score is a bit of both.

Interesting to see the outrage on here towards Suarez (great footballer, horrible 'man') and statements to the effect that it's hoped we'd never tolerate a player of his ilk wearing our strip - a sentiment I concur with, I hasten to add.

But what perplexes me is a number of people on this site have expressed a desire that Frank Rijkaard be our next manager. I'm sorry, but I'd have to put Frank into the same 'class' of undesirables as Luis Suarez, Joey Barton, and Lee Hughes (Port Vale).

For those of you too young to remember, google "Frank Rijkaard", "Rudi Voller", and "spit".

I just finished listening to the 606 podcast.

There were a few unbelievable call-ins that others touched on.

One RS supporter saying if there are bite marks then fair enough, but if there are no bite marks its just a simulation of biting and get on with it.

Then the fella who said biting is a form of affection in Uruguay.

And finally the person who said punishment would do no good, but that we needed to take into account the psychological aspects of why Suarez did what he did.

Are these people for real? Some folks will go to no end to put blinders on.

I've seen the word "pondlife" a few times. I concur.

Erm Chris - 918 - do the mathematics for me please. Give me exact percentages: proportion of posters on here who wish for Rijkaard v percentage of posters slamming sewer-rat?

Let me make it easier for you. Add up posts on here for FR to be gaffer, some I know, but really? He is low down on the shout-meter.

An absolutely shameful post Chris, fuck knows where you are coming from. Comparing sewerrat/biting to FJ spitting, happens too often, sadly, is like comparing a big bomb to a small bomb.
A sad and pathetic attempt to put a new gloss on sewer-rat. Nice one Chris lad.

Have we ever had a player anywhere close to as bad as Suarez? Diving cheating and stamping and raking yours studs on an opponent and trying to hurt them is bad enough, reminds me of Barton and if I'm honest, if Barton was as good as Suarez I'd put up with it.

But Suarez's behaviour is unbelievable if he had just been on receiving end of an elbow or bad tackle perhaps you could try and defend it. If it was a moment of madness, you could say a rush if blood to the head. But it's instinct and he knows exactly what he's doing. He sees theref coming over, feigns injury and starts limping. Then apologises on twitter — you couldn't make it up

I only hope the FA doesn't impose any ban too soon. Their season is over and if he got an eight game ban I would prefer he missed the games next season. They are a one man team and losing him for a quarter of the season would hit them hard.

Peter #925 - great point, I burst out laughing in disbelief when they showed him limping giving it the 'ow... ow....' on the replay making out he was injured, having a shifty side glance to see what the ref was up to - unbelievable!

We've made our own bed though - we've allowed diving, holding in the box, imaginary waving of cards, play acting, ritual abuse and bullying of officials to become commonplace in the game and Suarez is just an extension of that.

He is the embodiment of the 'anything goes so long as it gets results" culture the FA has allowed player power to inflict on the game. They should throw the book at him, and the club.

We had the Holy Trinity, they've got Suarez, Gerrard and Carragher! :)

I don't care how good a player he might be, he has a track record for cheating, diving and biting and he doesn't have a single redeeming feature in my eyes. Compare and contrast MOTD's response to this player and Felliani one was labeled a thug and should serve a massive ban whist this outright cheat is elevated into a superstar who is a flawed genius.

Next time the referee books one of players for an innocuous foul just remember how many incidents this superstar has gotten away with and how the other lot manage to put in a dubious tackle every week but rarely find themselves booked or sent off.

Suarez is just a reflection as to where the FA, media and football has lost the plot in their never ending chase for cash and status all of them are morally corrupt and fairness or sportsmanship is far from the top of their overall agenda.

Bloke just now on Sky (to Mark Pallios) "He did apologize very quickly".

Jesus - it's all THIS bollocks that I find more annoying than the incident.

Let's get this straight, HE didn't do a fucking thing by way of apology.

In fact I would suggest he's possibly unaware, even now, that 'he' has apologized.

What DID happened is that as soon as 'Liverpool FC' saw the footage a couple of times, the damage limitation squad went into action.

They probably had the theme from the A-team playing as an apology 'from the player' was put on twitter and the phone-call was made to Ivanovich.

The truth is it's all insultingly insincere and their disappointment is ONLY in what fines/bans might be imposed on the player and how they will be affected.

And how do I (we) KNOW this?

How can I (we) be 100% sure they don't give a flying fuck about the actual behaviour?

Because they bought the player (roll on the drums) AFTER he had done the exact same fucking thing at Ajax.

When they bought him, the scouting report would have been along the lines of..

"Has more than a fucking screw loose. He has actually bitten a fellow professional and disgraced Ajax. But he's a very good player".

I can just imagine blushing Brendan owning a Leopard.

BR: (pretend thoughtful) "Obviously...after I'd painted stripes on it....I believed and hoped...150%!!...that this would be the way things would remain.... but sadly and regretfully...it erm... rained....and it now appears..."

Etc blah waffle bollocks.

Of all the funny comments made here on TW, I find Gerrard's response the most hilarious:

"I'm not aware of the incident," Gerrard told Sky Sports. "If there is clear footage then I'll make a judgement and comment when I've seen it, and I haven't seen it."
"He's just behind Ronaldo and Messi as the best players in the world. I'll talk all day about Suarez as a genius and a player."

"I'd rather talk about his performance in the second half and his performances from day one this season. He's been by far the best player in the league.

"When you're playing against Chelsea in big Premier League games, it's going to get SPICY. Other people want to talk about unsavoury incidents, but you're going to get nothing out of me."

Spicy...ha..ha..ha..

Say what you like about Moyes as a coach I know he divides he divides opinion with good reason. Suarez had reached 10 yellow cards with his booking for handball but due to the FA's ludicrous policy of wiping the disciplinary slate clean a few weeks before the end of the season it was going to take a red card or similar red-mist madness from the mutant gopher for him to be out of the derby. Mind you, if any action is taken it'll doubtless come into force after our date with destiny.

For once, I really wish we were so much more gutsy in the face of this despicable episode. I listened on the radio to this match and I predicted a nightmare unfolding before me, minutes before it did.

As soon as he handballed it, I thought 'he should be sent off but he wasn't.
As soon as he remained on the pitch after the handball, I thought 'I bet he equalises'.
As soon as he bit Ivanovic, I thought 'I definitely bet now he will stay on'.
With ten seconds of the 97 minutes left (even though it was supposed to be 96 minutes), I still thought 'I bet he scores'. He did score.

You could not make this one up, you really could not. Even the ref, didn't want to know. 'Err, ref, the guy just bit me, so you want to take a look ref?' 'Err, no because that would then mean that I would need to send him and then Liverpool might not be able to equalise now would they son?'

LFC don't have the character or class to ban him themselves. Far too cynical for that. They get him to 'twitter' an apology. I love it. Twitter is now accepted as a virtuous and sincere mode of communication. Forgot popping the question to one's loved one with a ring and a bended knee, just use twitter!!

We get news of a fine from LFC (which means as much as someone taking the community chest card from me in a game of Monopoly) and some sickening and cynical pledge of money to charity. When did Suarez realise he was sorry? When he saw Sky News? When the LFC PR engine got into action? Surely he would have realised immediately after biting Ivanovic? Oh no, that would have been impossible, could he still needed to score an equaliser didn't he.

Chelsea fans, if you do not qualify for 4th place by just 2 pts, refuse to go to a single match next season.

Everton fans, if you do not finish above LFC by one pt or by goal difference of 1 goal this season, refuse to go to a single match next season.

The FA needs to stop treating the lifeblood of football like idiots. FA, your 'Respect' campaign, should start first and foremost with the FANS.

If the FA don't take immediate action over this, there is no justice in the game. It was bad enough for the ref to let him equalise beyond injury time. There is no excuse whatsoever that can be offered by the club whose reputation is at an all-time low – in spite of all the justified publicity and sympathy in memory of Hillsborough – because of this piece of garbage. Pathetic, and the same cliches came out of Brenda's gob too, "Unacceptable, "dealt with internally" They won't do anything whatsoever, they've said sorry to reduce the ban, now they'll forget about it.
Have to say, Jamie Redknapp was funny: "He was the only player in the Liverpool team that showed any appetite"
Gerrard:"This is what happens when it gets spicy"- Maybe Ivanovic's arm had a bit of Tobasco or sage on it if that is what he means.
I'm sure Brenda has eaten some Chelsea players in the past, I mean what's happened to Adrian Mutu recently, or Metaja Kezman? Obviously been digested by Brenda.

This kind of act does not belong in sport anywhere and should be eradicated. He has done it before and add to this all the other offences it's time for all the authorities to act in a positive manner. Anything less than a long ban and then the club getting shut of him would be unacceptable.

However, the mere fact that he was allowed to stay on the field and score a equalizing goal was an indictment of the football officials so you can't help but feel he will not get the deserved punishment judging by the way the league has treated the Macmanaman and Aguerro incidents.

The club should have done the honourable thing and suspended him immediately but they didn't have the guts. We all know he should have been sent off when he knobbled Mirallas early in the season which I believe cost Everton dearly. Certainly he should be thrown out of English football.

I think Liverpool will happily let Suarez get away with anything, they are terrified to critisize in case he leaves. Thank god that our manager doesn't stand for any bad behaviour and punishes our players heavily. Dagleish didn't discipline him for his admitted racist comments to Evra and Brenda said he would review it in other words I will do what the chairman tells me.

This is the second time he has bitten an opposing player, and received a 7 match ban, his track record is appaling both here and prior to coming to England. I would be amazed if he has anything less than a 10 game ban. Obviously he misses the next 2 games because of 10 bookings so will miss the first 6 games next season.

Analfield powers-that-be: Luis is very very contrite for what he has done - bless - he is very sorry and aware of the impact on the club

Yeah Ayre, he looked dead sorry hugging Stevie-me end-of-match and pumping his fist to the shite hordes when trotting off the pitch for his marmite on toast.

Ayre: 'Most important thing is we acted swiftly' and Brenda will now work on the discipline side of Luis's game.

2 weeks wages you desk cretin, 2 weeks ages, swiftly and decisively and now the slate is clean and all is hunky dory. We can now walk on together and I will announce today that we at the club have established a find and programme to help players at any club who feel that one day they might bite an opponent. We at this club will not tolerate or encourage unprofessional conduct of any sort, we would never, for instance, spend 35 million sponds to buy a player who had been found guilty of biting an opponent. Our morality is our character, it is who we are and what we wish to be judged on

Ayres to Brenda: don't mention the bite, I just did but think I got away with it (loud pop as champers drizzles down the bottle), let's keep the heads down shall we old chap for the next day or two, and perhaps we might be able to get a few pictures of Luis sitting at the bedside of a dying child who supports us and make sure he looks really really concerned and sad, can we do that, can we, can we ........

I had thought that sewer-rat had sunk as low as sub-human can go. Head-butting a ref, racist abuse, the Ghana penalty and sick celebrating at the miss, openly admitting to cheating, diving, biting opponents on two separate occasions. But now we have this. Hey gaffer me got bossy thought, me says give the pounds in my fine to the bank of the Hillshead 76, so I look real good and not like bad bandit from Mexico in Clint Eastwood movie. I not be touched now as I make grand gift for humanity and Hillshead 76. I human hey boss. I love people. Maybe we get me in super-fast car to go to Hillshead and I look sad by statue to the 76, like little lost boy, look boss like this. Luis. Yes boss, good thoughts, eh? Luis it's the Hillsborough 96 but this is a boss idea, link your sorrow and sadness and suffering and yes your humanity to the deaths of those 96 thoroughly decent human beings. I like it. Just texted Ayre and got the nod. We'll run with this. We are a thoroughly decent club aren't we Luis. Spirit of the boot-room and all that. I'm sure that Ronnie Moran would agree with this decision. Note to Ayre: remove Hansen and Lawrenson's entitlements to match tickets and slap-up meals.

I got it Brenda. Mr. Ayre? Get this painted near the Hillsborough memorial will you. 'Liverpool FC: a family club with family morals'

Nice Ian humble, touching, poignant. Shanks and Bob and Joe would be very proud of us. We are a great club with a great history and this swift and decisive response to Luis's little nip on that serb fella links us to the great past of this great club. I'm boss at coming up with this great club and great past stuff aren't I, eh. Pity we can't use the two week fine for that ace holiday for us and the wives. But the Hillsborough thing is good, very very good.

Paul Ferry #922

I'm surprised you took exception to my post. I can only conclude you did not read it properly, since you seem to think I am trying to 'put a new gloss on a sewer rat'. Let me break down for you what I said, and I'll capitalise the words you seem somewhat egregiously to have ignored...

"Interesting to see the outrage on here towards Suarez (great footballer, HORRIBLE 'MAN') and statements to the effect that it's hoped we'd never tolerate a player of his ilk wearing our strip - A SENTIMENT I CONCUR WITH, I hasten to add."

Did you see what I did there? I put the word "man" in inverted commas, as if to question whether Suarez is even worthy of the description. I also finished by saying I AGREE with the notion that I'd be appalled should Everton ever sign a player of his ilk.

"But what perplexes me is a number of people on this SITE have expressed a desire that Frank Rijkaard be our next manager. I'm sorry, but I'd have to put Frank into the same 'class' of undesirables as Luis Suarez, Joey Barton, and Lee Hughes (Port Vale)."

Do you notice I used the word "SITE", i.e. as opposed to "thread"? I was referring to comments made elsewhere on ToffeeWeb, outwith the present discussion. So your comments do seem rather misplaced.

Can we move on now and agree that Suarez is a complete an utter cock, and certainly not the sort of person Evertonians should be falling out about. I promise to reserve further comment about Rijkaard for other discussions, although sadly I expect to have to remind some of my fellow Blues that we need to be careful when saying who we want at our club, since some of them have history, and not the sort we want to see woven into the story of EFC. We should leave that sort to the Red Shite, the natural home for cnuts.

Brenda will be rehearsing his lines for this Wednesday when a hefty match ban lands his striker's way. 'Yeah, this club has a great tradition, yadda yadda yadda'.

Does he realise how boring he sounds when he talks about a club with a great tradition that managed to flog a player for £50 mill and in 5 minutes waste £35 mill of it on a loanee at West Ham. Lots of admirable tradition there Brenda, bags of it. History of exceeding themselves at stooping forever lower.

You can't buy, teach, or coach class. LFC have none of it and never have as I far can recollect.

What an abomination of a man albeit a wonderful footballing talent. I do not know what is worse, the dreadful biting incident or the shameless exploitation of the Hillsborough connection.

This shameful act is perpetrated on the day when the collective memory is focussed on one truly heroic lady and Mr Suarez decides conducts himself in this manner. Then he shamelessly decides to donate his "fine" to the Memorial Fund. Is there nobody at the club possessed with the wit to confront Mr Suarez with the fact that this kind of shallow "gesture" is an insult to the whole Hillsborough tragedy?

Does he think that money is the best or most appropriate thing he can do? Perhaps in the shallow, money obsessed and indulged world in which he is cocooned he does think that? But perhaps, more appropriately he could start by conducting himself in a manner that is worthy of those who literally gave their lives for those who wear the shirt he has on his back - a shirt, a memory, a tradition that he so regularly and so mindlessly besmirches seemingly in every game he plays.

Perhaps with their world-wide status Liverpool could have taken a leaf out of Ajax's book and rid themselves of this undesirable and make a stance against this kind of creature who besmirches the game? Of course it would "cost" them but until a stance is taken to reclaim some of the authority and "power" in the game the collective costs will be immeasurable.

A final point with regards to Everton themselves. This week our Chairman conducted himself in a way that brought great credit to himself, the club and the city as a whole. He reclaimed some of the unifying characteristics that once so characterised the clubs but which have been slowly eroding over the years.

Then along comes this odious character Suarez to turn the wonderful sympathy and empathy into the quite understandable bile that is rightly heaped on one of the most unpleasant people ever to populate the game. The sooner there is an end to him the better.

I am a relic of a bygone age, when honour, responsibility and doing the right thing was, well, everything. I am a scouser born and bred, blue and true, I love my city and its people, all of them, I love my club and whilst I don't love the other lot, I respect them as much as I can because half of my family support them and its a scouse thing. Black sheep and all..

I would like to think that if an Everton star did what he did after been given several chances over the past few years, had courted controversy through repeated disgusting behaviour, that my club would say, "Enough" He is not of the moral standard we can accept at this football club."

That Liverpool FC have backed this individual yet again, is in itself a dreadful reflection of the shocking morals of Liverpool football club. Their fans know he should be sacked. In any other job in the world he would be, in 90% of the worlds clubs, he would be.

Liverpool are in another league. As a scouser that saddens me because you can never defend the actions of such a player with platitudes and support to help him change. You get rid because he drags you through the gutter.

The club has lost its respect, lost its way and any shred of morality and doing the right thing.

They may be called Liverpool Football Club, but they are not from my city any more.

The recent 'Horsefaced Cannibal' incident has generated a lot of media coverage. The bit that has resonated with me is the response of our neighbours former players. Mark Lawrenson, Souness et al have expressed horror and asked the club to react swiftly. However, John Barnes has advised they do nothing and wait to see what the FA do.

Much as I despise that club and all it represents, you see how this encapsulates the collapse of our game and how it has become the cynical, corporate game we now watch. That club used to have some dignity and would have dealt with this incident swiftly, Shankly and Paisley wouldn't have put up with this insects behaviour. However, gear change to the despicable Dalglish era, and you have Barnes saying lets see if we can get away with this through some FA loophole, like the referee saw it so we can't do anything in retrospect. An attitude like that is as shameful as the act itself.

Ian Ayre has gone nearer the Barnes route, a fine paid to the Hillsborough Familes. That's trying to buy favour with our loveable, slow neighbours, short and simple.

It's the actions of the Sky generation. A striker should go down in the box if he feels contact, not if he is fouled, just contact. Every manager always see's fouls against his team, and never by his team. It's cynical, with not a shred of the pride and dignity that used to be so prevalent in our game.

I hope the FA suspend him well into next season, but more than that, I hope they punish Liverpool for their lack of class. They won't, because it's them. If it was us... well, let's not go there.

Everton now need to show some class and dignity. Moyes needs to make his mind up, sign/or not sign his contract. We need to admit our mistakes (negative tactics, not showing up at Reading, Norwich, Southampton and Sunderland) and move forward as a united club. Show that other club how a club that cherishes its traditions acts. I hope we do this.... but again, I'm not holding my breath as the OLD game I love, is being destroyed by the NEW corporate cynics who now own it.

I think we Evertonians should take things in perspective. I certainly have. When this incident happened, I was calling for Suarez's head. Now, I think we should leave it to the FA and see what they say. Remember, when Duncan Ferguson was a Blue, we tolerated an awful lot of bad behaviour - head-butting, strangling, elbowing - and many Evertonians stood by and excused his behaviour. So let's not take the moral high ground on this issue.

Timothy #131 - I think you're right.

Ive generally observed the whole event with a degree of mirth but when I look back at my own comments suggesting the FA 'throw the book at him and the club' etc they are frankly a bit over the top.

I think the issue many fans, and we especially, have is we know Suarez is a cheat, and theres a gut feeling he's going to get away with it.

And to an extent he, and LFC have. By remaining on the pitch he earned Liverpool a point, and cost Chelsea two which could really affect their season - which is why he sees his behavior as legitimate.

But as far as the actual offence was concerned he's not ended a players career or inflicted a life changing injury on another player, he's done something more associated with the school playground than anything else.

Maybe our moral compasses are simply aligned to different points - he lives by his own rule book, whereas we believe he should live by the agreed rule book, and this is what causes the real friction.

As such, if we believe in the rule book, he should be banned for violent conduct and bringing the game into disrepute and given whatever punishment the agreed rules believe those offences should receive.

After that we move on, the silver lining for us will be that the more he does it the more pressure he and his club will come under - which is what we are seeing now - and if they don't focus on improving his, and their own behaviour, the more and more focus will be put on them.

Tim (#131) — It's quite easy with Ferguson, you smack someone, you get a 3-match ban etc. But biting it's pretty hard to say what is the right punishment as it's so unusual — it's like a wild dog and they get put down.

Also, one thing about Ferguson was he took abuse as well and I never saw him complain or dive. Indeed despite some horrific injuries, I can not recall him ever needing a physio on pitch or going off injured.

As for Duncan, he reacted violently and openly to being held, even obstructed; can you imagine what HE'D have done to Suarez in that situation?

Sports psychologist Dr Thomas Fawcett on Suarez being offered "anger management counselling."

"It's in the man," he says. "I would think that in five years' time if there was a certain nerve hit or chord rung with Suarez in a different situation he would react in the same way."

All I know after all these years is that they will come out of it smelling of roses.

Their season is over. They are not as hung up about a derby win as we are.... after all, they have had plenty. The FA will hand out a six game ban and with phony good grace the RS will accept this... thus ingratiating themselves with the media again... along the lines of "noble LFC accept punishment etc etc."

Ratboy will miss, thus, four fairly meaningless games at the end of this season. He will miss two at the start of next and return refreshed after a nice long rest. And his first game back will be against us in all likelihood.

Possibly the most deplorable facet of this whole ugly scene is the 'donation' to the Hillsborough families.

It will be roundly applauded by the media, no doubt, but anyone with any intelligence can see it's a media stunt to put a positive spin on the incident.

I think we are all agree that Suarez is a scumbag. Beyond that, I diverge from the mass of opinion on here. Most of you guys make it sound like you chose EFC due to its higher morality and because it represents all that is good in the game of football. Fact is, 99% of people choose their football club owing to an accident of birth or circumstance. What you get is tribal loyalty. The rest is myth and legend.

All over the country - and, in fact, the world - there are football fans absolutely convinced that the club they happen to support is the best - and they can give you plenty of 'good' reasons why! Fulham and Doncaster fans are just as proud of their teams as we are of ours. Are they wrong to be? No, of course not. It's subjective, it can't be anything else. Everton are my team, that's all - nothing less, but nothing more either.

All this name-calling is a bit medieval to me. So, they're shit and we're great, is that it? Maybe we should start a war? Yeah, that really pans out well in the world at large, doesn't it? We're right, you're wrong. Let's have a hate-in. Bombs away...

Patrick Murphy
307 Posted 23/04/2013 at 12:22:23
When all is said and done the fact remains that cheating has become an acceptable part of the game but it does depend on which player and which team that player represents. The media in general and Sky in particular are frightened that their bottom line will be affected and therefore pander to the clubs who they perceive as the big cash generators for their enterprises and like politicians will say anything to keep their constituents onside. The governing bodies are helpless as they sold their ethics and morals a very long time ago.

When the city of Liverpool rightly boycotted the Sun newspaper, it has had the unintended consequence of owners and editors running scared at the first sign of customer dissatisfaction and when you have a large savvy group of fans who are well versed in campaigning for their own agenda the media will pander to that group rather than taking each story on its merits and pointing out the rights and wrongs or it.

By the time the next round of TV rights come up, the Manchester clubs our loveable friends and Arsenal will be demanding individual payments rather than a shared income from TV revenues. Greed is at the root of the problem and like every good soap opera, football needs its villains in order to fill the airtime and column inches, it's a sad state of affairs but it is the world we live in and therefor players like Suarez are almost beyond the laws of the game because of who they play for not because of who they are or what they do.

Kev #175,

I don't know if you're from the City, but the red hordes have a massive sense of entitlement, and NEVER miss an opportunity to rub our noses in it.

Just listen to any local radio phone-in, and you will be able to gauge the superiority complex they all possess.

99% of the twats have never set foot in the ground BTW, and only support the team because they won everything in the 70's & 80's. The comeback in Istanbul gave them a whole new generation of glory-hunting non-match going "fans."

They believe they have become the victims of a media witch-hunt, because they are no longer winning. They think the world is against them, and believe Sky, the BBC and every radio station has a hidden agenda against their club. They are too thick to realise the media has been polluted by ex-redshites, and the club is defended at every turn, and receives more exposure than even the Champions. No team finishing 6th or 7th has so many matches televised live, and given them millions more in earnings than us, even though we were chasing a C.L. place.

They never question their past actions, and as their current crop show all too well, they don't care who they hurt, as long as they win.

Kev (175) - your points are valid. However, certain subtle truths infiltrate the consciousness of the masses because the press / media pander to certain clubs sense of over-entitlement. I will give you a factual example from today.

On the way into work this morning, TalkSport gave the odds on certain teams winning the title next season. The fella read out the odds for Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Tottenham and wait for it, LFC. We did not get a mention yet LFC did. They won it in 1990 right? Us in 1987. Same era.

Mathematically speaking, we are closer to the summit of that table than they are, so why don't we get a mention? We won't win. Neither will they. But I want the same mention on credit as LFC at the very least please.

That isn't the fans waging war, Kevin, that is the cogs of the establishment feeding the over-entitlement engine. When that is rammed down the throats of fans for decades, you can start to see why on blogs like this fans try to level it out a touch.

Did the media in the 90s, when Everton were on the wane, plaster the sports pages with how we should be entitled to more? LFC haven't been champions for 23 years... yet, to hear the fans and certain corners of the press, you would think they won the league 2 years go for 8 years running and now suddenly and inexplicably lack form.

No one wants to wage war — they just want fair game and fair sport...

The footballing authorities are to blame for all of this.

Back in the day when these foreign players didn't exist in the English game, the football was just that — football. Okay, we know nothing stays the same but what is going on these days and a lot going unpunished by inept officials and dodderers in the FA and Fifa is totally unacceptable.

Many of these foreign imports believe what they do in their own countries is quite okay to do when they come to England. Sadly, it has transferred it's ugly head into a lot of English players now and the clutching and grabbing in the penalty area is being accepted instead of being dealt with. Referees just don't have the bottle to call a penalty and would sooner call a foul against the forward as the cowardly way out of a penalty area wrestling match.

Ratboy should have the book thrown at him as an example to other nutters who would besmirch English football just as Aguerro should have been punished for his drop kick on David Luiz.

Kevin Tully - yes, I am from the city. Spent the first 21 years of my life there then moved down South. (I'm going up to Liverpool tomorrow for a couple of days to see my folks, funnily enough.)

I fully realise that means I no longer have to put up with the local enmity, so it's kind of easy for me to say things should be different, and maybe in a way I'm not entitled to any more. But, on the other hand, I think I'm more objective.

Is anyone seriously - I mean SERIOUSLY - saying that fans of the Blues are somehow a different species than fans of the other lot? If so, I think they want to get out more - travel the country, travel the world, get a bit of perspective! They might well conclude that Liverpudlians of whatever hue have a fuck of a lot more in common than not.

Kev #190- I am talking strictly football related matters (football forum?), not their personality, or what type of family guys or girls they may or may not be.

Brent #188- Of course it's contradictory. they think they are being shafted, and everyone is against them. Whilst in reality, they receive the most exposure, live televised games, and media bias more than any other team in their League position would ever expect.

Alan (187) - precisely. Superbly put.

I saw Brendan Rogers on Goals on Sunday the other week. It came to the point where they showed the Everton highlights. They asked Brendan what he thought of Everton and Moyes. I can't remember his words exactly but he kind of grouped us together with them as being a team who didn't have millions to spend and had to find ways to cultivate players. What planet is he on and why does he always sound like he's got a gobstopper in his mouth? I must admit though, he is one of the less despicable managers they've had in recent times.

Without doubt many Everton fans are just as fair and loyal as many RS fans. It is wrong to generalize when referring to fans of any team. There are good and not so good when it comes down to fair comments.

I have known a few Everton fans who were so totally biased they found a way to justify every wrong committed by an Everton player.

There you go, great timing - Gerrard's testimonial plastered all over the Echo website, all proceeds to Charidee of course!!

They are more transparent than B.K. and his phantom sale.

Kev Johnson, I think whenever it was you lived in the city there wasn't any difference between the two sets of supporters. There still isn't much difference between the core supports other than their media-fed delusion over their capabilities and their 'forgetfulness' over the more disgraceful parts of their history........... Thing is, the overall profile of their support is massively different from ours now, most clearly evident at the semi final last year. So, as a body of supporters there are now very real differences, in attitudes, knowledge, traditions, humour etc.

If I was in charge of the charity I'd play a blinder and ask given the news and anniversary why the entire playing squad and staff can't make similar donations, soon see what a bunch of twats they really are.

Kev Johnson,

Agree with Steve, a general feeling, evinced by the banner "Scousers This End" at the semi. I asked a Liverpool "fan"...who was the manager before Shankly? His reply "Before my time, give us a clue." I mimed throwing 3 darts. "Ah, got it, Jocky Wilson."

325 Posted 23/04/2013 at 15:49:49
Most of the RS fans are just glory hunters, particularly the ones from Norway. Ask them anything related to their past and they won't have a clue.

Now us on the other hand, we know our history, and it's enough to make our heart go oooooh, we don't care what the RS says, what the heck do we care?, cos we only know that there's gonna be a show when the Everton Boys are there!

I thank you.

Kevin Johnson,

I can be in company with people I have never met before, within 10 minutes I can usually tell if they support Liverpool. Not saying I am right every time but probably 80/90% of the time.
There is just something about them that tells you what they are.

Someone like Shelvey would be signing on already if he had done what Suarez did. Marvellous rock and a hard place given the offender is worth 50m not 5m.....

Liverpool cannot come out of this well as they cannot sack him and feel they have to support him.

Like everyone else I have something to say on Suarez.

1 There are set medical procedures following bites - Ivanovic should have insisted on what all police and health professionals are bound to have

2 The Premiership has duty of care to its players. They should not allow any other player take the field if Suarez is named on the Liverpool team sheet. From and Health and Safety point of view the risk is too great.

Would you play in the park on a Sunday afternoon with a person who has this kind of history ? No.

Jamie Barlow

To the tune of 'Thats Amore"

When you live on a farm
And you bite someone's arm
That's a Suarez

When your forehead is wide
And your teeth are offside
That's a Suarez

When you dive for a pen
Over and over again
That's a Suarez

When your gums are so tight
Like you've strained for a shite
That's a Suarez

I bet he'll get of with a 4 game ban, at the most, and having to accept that he has to wear a muzzle for League games.

If he can't find a muzzle my ex can lend him one.

Carragher - "If you ask most footballers, I think they would rather be bitten than have their leg broken."

Brilliant, at least we know he would have been a top Q.C. If he hadn't gone into football.

Kevin, what that twat Carragher is failing to grasp is that bad tackles are usually unintentional! Absolute horrible bent c**ts they lot of them!

When you've just got no charm, then you bite someone's arm, thats a Suarez.

When your foreheads too wide, and your teeth are offside, thats a Suarez.

When you dive for a pen, and then do it again, thats a Suarez.

When you handle the ball, and say you've done f##k all, thats a Suarez.....

Sewer Rat and the Red Shite have just said they will contest it if the scumbag gets any more than a 3 game ban. Who the fuck are they to dictate to the FA I hope that gets the FA pissed and he gets 8 games and they tell them it will be upped to 12 if he appeals and loses.
Tim Jones

Of course if the ban handed out is appealed then I can see Suarez playing in the Derby. If the decision is today and he has 10 days to appeal then that takes us to 5th May or next business day so that would be the day after the Anfield game.

My favourite defence is "He never broke the skin."

That's like saying "The knife missed his vital organs."

The only reason the guy didn't sustain a serious injury is because he managed to shake off that rabid dog.

Take a look, he fell over and pushed the rat's head away.

When you say "support" do you mean attend matches, know the story of John Houlding and their beginnings, history pre-Shankly, suffer badly for days after a defeat, directly relate their mood to how the team is doing? or..

"I'm a red, me, well, that's the name of the city innit?"
"Can't get a ticket, mate"
"What's the 2nd Division?
"That was Chelsea fans; anyway the club warned UEFA about the ground and ticketing"
"5 times is better than 20"
"Cilla Black, Jimmy Tarbuck, Ricky Tomlinson, Sue Johnston...."?

You'll catch Weals Dear overnight
Picks up your arm babe to take a chunk Dear
Sinks his teeth in, with all his ratty might

Then The Red shite, fine the Gobshite
The higher archy, are also a gang a pricks
They say "Everything, will be forgotten"
