Everton Need Gueye – So Sign Him
I can only assume that Everton do not recognise the importance of signing Gueye otherwise it would have been done by now.
This signing is vital. Gueye will help protect the defence better than most, he will keep the midfield ticking over even when we are up against it and he is perfect to play alongside Onana and help bring him on. You can't put a price on his experience.
Even if we had paid 10 mill, and I don't think he would cost that, for the short term he is invaluable. If we had paid 10m and had just one more point because of it, which was entirely possible as I am sure we would have had more possession in the opening games, it would have been worth it.
Moshiri asking us to judge him at the end of the transfer window tells me all I need to know. He knows nothing because he should have said by the start of the season.
Frank Lampard needed far more support than he has received but for the life of me I can't understand why he thinks playing a back 3/5 at the expense of a midfielder is a good idea. I hate this system.
Playing 3 central defenders in any game is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. If we had done it in 84/5 we wouldn't have won the league. It is as simple as that.
A back 4 please Frank and get bodies in the midfield!
And it will definitely help if Thelwell pulls his finger out and gets the Gueye deal over the line, before Villa or someone else comes sniffing round.
Can we show some urgency please, FFS!

"Well hopefully this signing is imminent now but 4 weeks too late!"
Patience, Jim. Remember Mao's comment to Des Lynam on BBC Sport many decades ago about the first step in a long march of ten thousand. We've only taken a couple of steps this season.
