Jean-Philippe Gbamin, who left Everton in September, has signed for Ligue 2 French side Dunkerque until the end of the season.

Dunkerque are struggling second to bottom with only 9 points from 13 games. Gbamin and his agent reached an agreement to terminate his contract at Everton with 1 year still left, and income of around £5m set aside.

Michael, when you say £5 mill salary set aside does that mean we paid it or it was a saving on salaries?

Michael, I posted the other week that Gbamin was on £25k a week. Not £5m a year.

Slightly off topic here but I was rather perturbed to read that Richarlison is to have surgery on his pubes. Phew!

Ralph,

That came from Gbamin's agent regarding how much they left on the table, so due to be paid under the contract they tore up in order for him to be free of us.

Ray,

It's a tough one. We can quote the words of his agent, who seemed happy to boast about how much they had sacrificed. Or we can quote you and your intimate knowledge of how much he was getting paid.

Hmmm... Let me think about it.

Do you not think his agent could be telling porkies, Michael?

My Timbers fan mate is in utter despair Mike, although I did point out that it was at least not Gary.

That's always possible, Tony, healthy skepticism… or a cynical distrust of football agents, you takes your pick, but I couldn't possibly suggest such a thing.

He's on record and it's been repeated by other sources. But it matters not one jot either way.

Michael @5

Or we can take notice of the evidence given in a British court of law which stated his salary as £25k a week, a sum on which they based the size of the fine they gave him for motoring offences.

Yes, smart arse, you go and think about it.

Very true Michael. This modern world is full of stories that might not even be true - but it doesn’t stop them getting repeated by many news outlets. Fake News is everywhere, so don’t take any notice of that Liverpool Echo, finally running a story about another group of Americans being interested in Everton, mate!

Ray,

Could be a question of what qualifies as base salary, versus potential bonuses, image rights, sponsorship deals, and who knows what else these buggers get, or think they might get.

Spotrac list his salary as £75k, £3.9M per year. Are you confusing him with Tom Davies?

No Michael, I'm basing my comment on what was widely reported as his salary as stated in the courts. I'd be interested in hearing what bonuses he was entitled to seeing as no bugger saw him play so unless he was entitled to a bonus for being nice to his Mum.

Likewise image rights. His image as a pisshead will mean he'll be much sought after.
Maybe he was sponsored by Guinness?

Maybe his agent was bigging him up to get him a sparkling contract at Dunkerque. All the baguettes he can eat.

Who knows...?
