Disclaimer () John Pendleton 1 Posted 20/08/2025 at 15:13:43 Michael, as a builder of commercial websites, I can well imagine the tremendous effort that goes into building, maintaining and updating such a site as TW. We try to assign content as: Evergreen (no change required) Deciduous (seasonal changes after dust settles) and Infant (constant change required) TW content looks at first glance like it was a 40/20/40 mix of the above. Periods of transition might alter the mix to 60/20/20, which is still an unrelenting commitment. You have my admiration and sympathy in equal measure! Mike Gaynes 2 Posted 20/08/2025 at 17:15:39 No apologies necessary. Technical challenges and delays are the rule, not the exception, in website rollouts. It's a long, hard job. Jack Convery 3 Posted 20/08/2025 at 17:58:38 What you all do is greatly appreciated by all who follow and contribute opinions to the site. Long Live ToffeeWeb. Whatever you do, never change the title. Kim Vivian 4 Posted 20/08/2025 at 18:08:34 By far and away the best fan site compared to any others that I have wandered onto. Keep it up.Long Live ToffeeWeb. David Bromwell 5 Posted 20/08/2025 at 18:13:53 I am not sure what life would be like without ToffeeWeb, it's always my go to site for news and opinions. I particularly like that we get to hear from regular contributors who are just ordinary fans. I don't like the sometimes very personal comments that contributors make towards some of our players, and I wish we could sometimes be a little more conciliatory to our neighbours. But I guess that neither of these things will happen. But it remains a great read with lots of daily debate and opinion. Best wishes and thank you to all the Editorial staff. Danny O'Neill 6 Posted 20/08/2025 at 18:22:58 Thanks for the update, Michael.Change is inevitable over time and should be embraced, not resisted. This forum is a great place for Evertonians to comment, debate and contribute. Long may it continue, whatever it may look like.I just hope it doesn't lose its spirit. Thanks to all of you who keep it running and relatively sane (1). Rob Hooton 7 Posted 20/08/2025 at 21:47:18 Thanks for keeping us in the loop and thanks to you all for what you do. Paul Kernot 8 Posted 20/08/2025 at 22:26:06 David #5. 'Conciliatory to our neighbours' hmmm. Don Alexander 9 Posted 20/08/2025 at 22:33:58 Despite missing the insightful articulacy of dear Lyndon I still admire and welcome the talents of those who now run TW, and especially the maelstrom of opinion from our devout selves. Christine Foster 10 Posted 20/08/2025 at 22:47:26 Change is the one constant... ToffeeWeb could not and perhaps should not stay the same as it was under the guardanship of Michael and Lyndon, and what a fantastic job they have done. For over 20 years I have contributed to this site, I have fought, laughed, cried and shouted at its content, but always, always loved it. Just why this is, is simple. To me its the very soul of the club, fans outpourings, complaints, praise and advice (which should NEVER be dismissed as there are many with skill sets way above many of those who actually ran the club!) Its the banter, not the abuse, the respect for each other that binds us and I hope that is not lost. All things current, all things past, all things to come. That's ToffeeWeb. Roots are vital for the tree to grow, where we came from, how we got there, the characters etched into ToffeeWeb folklore, gone but not forgotten. The friends we never met, but didn't need to because we knew who they were. The edge the site has, the ruffling of feathers, the indignation. The sadness, the pain, love or annoyance, its all here. Till its not. Change is a big thing this season, symbolic and very real, new owners, stadium, direction (one hopes) new team.. the old should never just be thrown out with the bathwater, take the good, take whats best and make it better. To the future ToffeeWeb! Phil (Kelsall) Roberts 11 Posted 20/08/2025 at 23:19:59 Michael,Thanks. I wondered what happened to my post!Suspicions were aroused that we had the dead hand of a totalitarian regime banning all dissent.I was half expecting 4 burly guys to turn up on my doorstep and force me to watch the Reds*** as punishment.I should not have worried. No urgency as my next task is to produce a list of Countries who have supplied players for Everton in the last 50 years. Could be interesting quiz for the future! Jim Wilson 12 Posted 20/08/2025 at 23:38:28 It has always been the best fan siteIn my opinion. Bob Parrington 13 Posted 22/08/2025 at 08:12:43 Mike @ 2. Agreed. But perhaps add - for ever changing more rapidly.MK thanks for the update and to both you and Lyndon for the foundation and early history of TW. Not a day goes by that I don't log in.Christine, what a wonderful, heartfelt summary from you. So appreciated. I think you still live in New Zealand. Is that right? If so, if Irene and I manage to come across the Tasman sometime soon, it would be great to catch up. Ged Simpson 14 Posted 22/08/2025 at 09:01:48 MK et al. TW a great site with opinions that can make you smile or tear your hair out and everything in between. Well known contributors come and go and some of us have had an imposed silence after going OTT! Fair enough. The foundations are that those that comment, vary from football experts to everyday fans. What connects us is our love of the club and our regular logging on to TW. Even close season that is daily for me and many others I suspect. Please ensure all comments (unless offensive) are published. It levels the ground and means the site isn't dominated by "experts". There lies the great strength of TW. Christine Foster 15 Posted 22/08/2025 at 09:17:31 Bob, thank you for the comments and would love to catch up if you are ever over this way! I guess it depends on time and place. I'm mobile so travel is normal, just let me know if you get down this way. Email is Christine.foster49@gmail.com happy to from other blues too.. MK if this is not allowed can you send Bob the details? Dave Abrahams 16 Posted 22/08/2025 at 09:20:10 I'm old-fashioned and don't like change but always find I get used to it quite quickly so ToffeeWeb will be the same even though it changes.I don't know how I found it, I think through my son, Michael not Tony, but I couldn't get enough of it and the contributors, met some of them, know plenty more although we've never met and know I'll never leave it.To one of my favourites, from the one eyed City — hope you are doing okay Brian, drop us a line on here mate! Ian Burns 17 Posted 22/08/2025 at 09:34:15 Everything changes but it all stays the same. Matters not, this has been for so many years my daily routine to visit this website. As mentioned above Lyndon and Michael did a wonderful job of building this site and long may it continue with the new owners - along with the ever-present Michael of course.Like others, I feel I know people like Christine, Dave A, Danny, Mike G. and many many others. As I visit the site daily, so many people on ToffeeWeb have become familiar in my life and long may it continue. Change may come but it will always be the same to me. Ray Said 18 Posted 22/08/2025 at 09:43:08 Thanks for all the past hard work Michael (and Lyndon) and good luck to the new owners in their future efforts to keep up the very high standards set. I have been a regular visitor to ToffeeWeb for nearly 20 years and this site has always been my first morning call and last evening call for news on the Mighty Blues. Change can be hard to deal with and its important to me that the site retains the same broad approach previously established within the confines of any planned changes. I echo the comments of Ged (14) 'Please ensure all comments (unless offensive) are published. It levels the ground and means the site isn't dominated by "experts". There lies the great strength of TW'.
