A youngster who could turn out to be the most exciting new prospect to appear for Everton in many a long year, Tyler Dibling has finally completed his long rumoured move from Southampton.
The 19-year-old right-winger has signed a 4-year contract after a complex transfer deal was finally agreed for a sum reported by The Athletic to be an initial £35M with potential add-ons that could increase that by up to £5M, plus a sell-on clause described as being 'not as high' as 20%.
Dibling becomes Everton's eighth signing of this transfer window, which started slowly with the permanent deal for Charly Alcaraz, and reached a climax last week when Jack Grealish joined, initially on loan.
Everton have had three previous bids rejected by Southampton for their teenage winger, who is one of the most highly rated attacking prospects in England. Dibling came through Southampton’s academy and had a brief spell in Chelsea’s youth academy in 2022 before returning to the south coast later that year. He made his debut in a 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat against Gillingham in August 2023 and has featured 43 times for Southampton in total.
After the rumours of Everton's interest started, there were mixed signals when the player was training alone and not featuring in The Saints' early games in this season's Championship when he was left out of Will Still’s squad for Southampton’s first two matches, but he played the final few minutes in the 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town but was absent again for Saturday’s defeat at Stoke City.
However, it seemed to be only a matter of time before someone would agree a deal to take him back into the Premier League, where he made 33 appearances last season, scoring two goals, and making a strong impression despite the Saints’ relegation from the top flight. Crystal Palace were thought to be interested too.
The Blues had backed off after failing to reach an agreement on the valuation of the player and the details of the deal being struck between the two clubs earlier this month. However, it appears that negotiations were resumed and an agreement was finally secured between the two clubs.
Dibling may well be expecting to slot straight into David Moyes’s starting XI, given that the squad does not have a right winger at the moment. Charly Alcaraz, Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye have deputised in that role with little to no success following the departures of loanees Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindström at the end of last season.
However, it seems unlikely that David Moyes will select him to play against Mansfield Town on Wednesday, so soon after joining the squad.

A generational talent according to those ITK.

Sky Sports just announced it!

NSNO, C'mon you Blues!!
8 Posted 25/08/2025 at 19:34:25
I can't wait to see him down the right, or is he one for the future… haha!
9 Posted 25/08/2025 at 19:42:49
Fair play to them for pulling this signing off.
Fantastic prospect.
10 Posted 25/08/2025 at 19:44:12
11 Posted 25/08/2025 at 19:47:33
One for the future, I'll be patient for the here and now. Big fee, but he will be inconsistent as wingers and young players are, and might take a while to settle.
Thought Grealish would raise the bar, and a 3 of Dibbling, Grealish & Ndiaye will be exciting to watch, with Dewesbury-Hall, Garner, and Alcaraz trying to get in the mix.
It needs a good passing midfielder to sit in front of the back 4, a right back and a striker. And then start filling the squad out for the future.
Disappointing not to have done the business sooner, and attract more established names. But, after 5 years of struggling to stay in business, there's something to look forward to.

Looks like TFG have worked hard to make sure this was a good-value deal on our terms.
15 Posted 25/08/2025 at 19:55:03
16 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:02:56
As I've said elsewhere, that's us now with 10 midfielders for 5 positions, if Moyes keeps to his 4-2-3-1 formation, but now he's got options and choices.
He sounds a promising player from those who seem to have watched him a lot. I can't really comment; I think I've only watched him play twice.
17 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:04:04
Jesus, why add to a very boring debate, take your own advice and just enjoy our latest signing.

19 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:06:31
Looking forward to competing for something positive this season.
20 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:06:45
Right-back now, please, then I think we will be okay till January and then a defensive midfielder, particularly with Afcon in a few months…
£40M is a lot, I hope he's the real deal as I know nothing about him.
21 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:09:57
I suppose we have the advantage as we have a glaring hole at right wing, whereas the other teams are all well stocked up.
22 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:10:20
Another ‘flair player signed by a manager who doesnt like such players.
23 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:12:49
Most exciting quartet of midfielders we have had for years. Ndiaye, Grealish, Dibling and Dewsbury-Hall. It's on Moyes now to find balance and get these the ball in areas where they can have an impact
Nearly half the team (possibly the full front 5 with Barry) won't have socks much higher than their ankles.
24 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:13:15
25 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:13:59
When we were getting linked with Dibling, I'm sure I read a post from someone on ToffeeWeb that said he might end up playing up front?
I might be wrong but every time I watch Anthony Gordon playing as a false striker, he always looks like a better player, so maybe this is something we could see from Dibling in the future?
26 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:14:44
...wait, what ?????
27 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:15:43
28 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:17:27
He will have bums off seats when he starts running with the ball. An outstanding signing for me.
29 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:18:35
Wow !
TERRORISE DEFENSES LAD! DESTROY EVERY LEFT BACK IN THE COUNTRY!
“MY WOW FACTOR ES MY DRIBLING”
Well be the ankle socks team as Martin says!
COYB!
30 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:22:21
Put him at centre-forward with good players around him.
31 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:28:58
A good side is starting to emerge. Been a good bank holiday weekend for the club.
33 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:29:40
Looks like TFG will keep our best players and add for the future. A very welcome change.
34 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:31:53
Definitely a reason to be cheerful.
35 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:33:58
Looking forward to seeing how we shape up.
36 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:35:07
Welcome son. Now, become a blues legend.
37 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:40:04
I hope the lad is given time to settle and we can develop him well.
He looks to have a natural ability that a lucky few have; if he becomes half as good as Rooney was, we will be very lucky.
38 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:42:15
Looking forward to a season well away from the relegation battle. Sick of us being down there. Gives Moyes a good headache of who to put where and have decent options on the bench. Right-back a definite next.
39 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:43:17
And by not 'just paying the money now' two weeks ago, we've got spare cash for another player.
Good signing, good management.
40 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:52:29
Expect up and downs with the lad but what an exciting prospect
41 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:53:01
42 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:54:57
There is much to be excited about in the months ahead.
43 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:55:36
These players are getting younger!
44 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:56:42
45 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:56:55
The interchanging was also something that came into my head too. Though I know absolutely nothing about Dibbling other than what I have read on here from posters in the know - my thoughts were just that - a 3 behind the striker that can interchange and really give the opposition something to think about. With the addition Of Dewsbury Hall, Grealish and Iroegbunam seemingly starting to find his level, on top of Ndiaye, Garner, Gueye, Harrison, McNeil and Alcaraz - a decent squad is definitely shaping up.
46 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:57:39
Let's give the lad some time and support. He's 19. That's 2 years younger than Gordon was when we sold him and he'll still only be 23 at the end of a 4-year contract. Reminds me of Dave Thomas.
47 Posted 25/08/2025 at 20:59:05
You'd imagine Grealish and Dibling play in their preferred roles. Ndiaye then plays at #10.
That then makes Alcaraz and McNeil strong replacement/rotation options across all three positions.
The interesting one is KDH. Presumably he goes to 8 as I can't see him not being a regular. We've got some real options in front of the defence.
We're a couple of defenders away from actually having a squad. Which would be an incredible achievement in one summer. Particularly as we haven't really bought or loaned any 'filler'.
48 Posted 25/08/2025 at 21:01:07
49 Posted 25/08/2025 at 21:03:57
50 Posted 25/08/2025 at 21:06:58
He looks a big strong lad for his age.
51 Posted 25/08/2025 at 21:11:01
Fingers firmly crossed but this window could be a real turning point for our club – at long last.
Still time for a couple more quality signings!
52 Posted 25/08/2025 at 21:11:18
If we had waited for him to mature a little more then someone else would have moved in for him. The potential far outweighs the risk.
53 Posted 25/08/2025 at 21:19:01
Watching this hattrick of near identical goals against Newcastle when he was 16 might give you an idea of what he could do at 10!

Competition for places - when was the last time we had that!? And, only 1 loan so far.
60 Posted 25/08/2025 at 21:51:40
61 Posted 25/08/2025 at 21:53:16
Plus we have a couple of exciting prospects in Braiden Graham and Justin Clarke and Harrison Armstrong of course.
Lots to look forward to.
62 Posted 25/08/2025 at 22:03:38
It must be wonderful for him to have TFG's backing.
I am delighted by the signings of KDH, Grealish and now Dibling!
Jack and Ili appear able to develop a create productive on pitch bond. An on form McNeil is superb too. Loads of reasons for optimism.
If we can fill the other holes before 2nd September 2025 we can again start to believe in Nil Satis Nisi Optimum.
These exciting times are no more than Evertonians deserve. Early days of course, but in Moyes these players seems to trust, thats good enough for me.
63 Posted 25/08/2025 at 22:03:52
After the good attacking show yesterday I just hope it continues against Wolves.
64 Posted 25/08/2025 at 22:13:38
Can't help but feel that we're a quality right back and a genuine natural goal-scoring striker away from having a top 6 quality starting XI with some pretty handy back up players too.

Welcome Tyler!
68 Posted 25/08/2025 at 22:29:53
We have a few loans spots, we should look to definately put those to use. Right back and a number six in. Possibly even another hybrid wide/forward player.
69 Posted 25/08/2025 at 22:33:31
Cant admit to seeing him that much last season, but if what were reading about him is true, then he could be a real talent for years to come, hopefully in a royal blue shirt.
Anyway, welcome aboard, Tyler, and enjoy this journey to. greatness.

I think this is a seriously good signing and we will be winning so many free kicks between him and Grealish that might be sensible having money on Tarkowski being top scorer, unless Keane plays 25 games then it might be him. I jest of course...
Can imagine the full backs' face when Ndiaye goes off and this lad comes on. Exciting times.
74 Posted 25/08/2025 at 22:52:44
Is Dibling a bargain or over hyped? - Analysis.
So are the Toffees getting a bargain for a young player with a high ceiling, or was Dibling over hyped in the early stages of a campaign which produced just two Premier League goals and no assists? BBC.
Arsenal's 16 yrs old is, after half a game, and a swan lake dive in the penalty area already the new Messi. The dirty red bastards who contrived to have four Newcastle players taken off and one sent off have a 16 yrs old who is, after two sub appearances another Messi.
Everton buy a 19 yrs old who according to the BBC is, whilst the ink is still wet over hyped. The bloody hypocrisy is deafening!
Welcome to the club lad, don't listen to the bastards.
75 Posted 25/08/2025 at 22:54:25
“Hes powerful, hes really quick, both feet, can shoot. I worked with Harry Kane and physically the stuff Ive seen him do at 18 in the Premier League with people just bouncing off him – he has something Ive not seen in a British player in a long time.
“Hell play as a No.8 or a No.10 eventually, but hes 18 so we played him out wide and he was incredible.
“He can play wide, we played him as a false nine in pre-season and he was our best player.”
Russel Martin quote.
He looks like an 8 to me longer term. But let's see.
76 Posted 25/08/2025 at 22:59:47
Kunal, didn't you read my post? How easily people get dragged in with all the bull shit, even Evertonian's. He's played one substitute appearance for god's sake!
Me lord, I rest my case.
77 Posted 25/08/2025 at 23:04:25
Seriously its going to be interesting who lines up where and how a first 11 will look, will it be an early exit on loan for a few? McNeil perhaps? Patterson, midfielders seem abundant now.. even up front if we get another in I think we will offload, Chermiti, Beto? (although he does causes chaos) We almost have a squad... a decent one at last..
78 Posted 25/08/2025 at 23:22:14
Think Patterson may be on his way to Seville on loan
79 Posted 25/08/2025 at 23:38:44
In regards to Harrison Armstrong I would keep hold of due to the Afcon in January with a possible loan move out in the Later end of the January window if he is not getting game time, could be useful as well for the cup games.
80 Posted 25/08/2025 at 23:42:36
Oh, is that what he is, another hyped up does nothing Philips I would say.
81 Posted 25/08/2025 at 23:45:55
82 Posted 25/08/2025 at 23:46:21
Him playing for Southampton (ahem, history fact: London aside, Southampton the second-most bombed city in Britain in WW2 - our city being the most assaulted) with such aplomb was to me very, very encouraging. He's exciting, and therefore targeted by knowing oppositions.
I hope with us he develops into genuine greatness, in excess of the psuedo-"greatness" various media pundits bestow on the likes of Anthony Gordon for instance. After all, unlike Southampton we now seem to be accruing more than one team-member for the opposition to have to worry about.
I'll wait until the end of the utterly corrupt window before venturing an opinion, again, on Friedkin.
Up to now I'm not in despair for a change.
83 Posted 25/08/2025 at 23:52:52
Good article and even better comments section - many valuing him at £35m as early as March this year and more than one comment on Peps robotic constraint on a certain Mr Jack Grealish.
84 Posted 26/08/2025 at 00:34:15
I also think we have been rather savvy in the market so far.
Perhaps there may be a the odd "gem" via the loan market that will surprise us, as we haven't tapped into our usual source so far.
85 Posted 25/08/2025 at 00:37:18
86 Posted 26/08/2025 at 00:46:59
Who's laughing now ?
87 Posted 26/08/2025 at 00:55:34
This lad will be a true star for us I believe.
88 Posted 26/08/2025 at 01:05:40
With KDH or maybe even Charlie behind them, we'd be taking something better than a knife to the gunfight.
89 Posted 26/08/2025 at 01:14:14
We now have three ball carriers. We will be playing like Croatia soon.
90 Posted 26/08/2025 at 01:32:23
91 Posted 26/08/2025 at 01:38:03
92 Posted 26/08/2025 at 01:39:38
Nice that the fee is actually £35m plus £5m in bonuses, and the 20% sell-on on profit. So we reduced the sell-on by 5% and we also negotiated them down by around £5m on the fee, so it looks like our brinksmanship worked.
Going off subject, I see Lille made a loan to buy offer on Hamza Igamane from Rangers, and the player has spat his dummy out and done an Issak.
Thelwell apparently wants Chermiti on loan, so would anyone take Igamane on loan with a buy option, and send Chermiti to Ibrox? Igamane is always linked with us. Would Moyes take a player who has effectively gone on strike?
93 Posted 26/08/2025 at 02:20:03
94 Posted 26/08/2025 at 02:39:09
95 Posted 26/08/2025 at 03:35:47
McNeil is a talented, committed and versatile player with 33 goal involvements over the last three seasons, far and away our best. He will be an incredibly valuable depth piece and late game resource off the bench. I know youre just making an observation and not recommending it, but I will be crushed if we sell him.
96 Posted 26/08/2025 at 03:53:44
It will make a nice change to have a decent bench with depth.
At the same time, I'm totally surmising but I get a feeling Moyes doesn't rate him, and wouldn't be surprised if he was sacrificed for a decent fee if he could bring in another striker.
97 Posted 26/08/2025 at 05:30:00
Surely now, the recruitment team are focusing on getting a top class right back in? I wouldn't mind Matty Cash from Aston Villa. Although not the top 10 RBs, he has enough quality and the right age (28) and the 'tough-tackling, no-nonsense defending' type of profile to fit into Moyes' team.
98 Posted 26/08/2025 at 05:44:07
99 Posted 26/08/2025 at 06:00:35
I wouldn't see McNeil. He is left footed and his crossing is pretty good. He's hard working and will help out with defensive reponsibility. He can play wide left and Moyes might as well develop him as a left wing back.
100 Posted 26/08/2025 at 06:14:02
101 Posted 26/08/2025 at 06:18:37
Personally I quite like McNeil. He might look like he lollops around but he's actually a pretty hard worker and he does have a knack of creating or scoring.
At 25, we may not have even seen his best years yet.
102 Posted 26/08/2025 at 06:44:48
"As long as there is a big green rectangle, 22 players and a ball then Tyler will flourish. He just wants to play football," a well-placed source told BBC Sport.
If only football was that simple
Will be interesting re Dwight McNeil. At 25, I am thinking he might prefer to make a move to a club where he's likely to play each week although I guess options are limited.
103 Posted 26/08/2025 at 06:47:06
Exactly. We've such a thin squad that we need more players.
How many times have Evertonians said "Look at that bench" meaning there isn't much on it that can come in and change a game or make a difference?
Bring a few more in and keep what we have. Need a RB and I'd say the window has been one of the best in a long time.
104 Posted 26/08/2025 at 07:09:10
.Everton need a defensive line that can move up in support of midfield without gaps, with the players confident enough to be able to defend on the turn and get back into position when required. With the now potential of play making in midfield this will become a obvious problem.
I know injuries don't help , but I suspect that TFG are onto Finch Farms case as we speak regarding that .That data is being looked at like never before and questions are being asked.
Interesting that Patterson has been loaned out , a Left back must be in the pipeline ,since Moyes cover is not there now.
105 Posted 26/08/2025 at 07:22:25
106 Posted 26/08/2025 at 07:27:59
Yes, why sell when there is competition for the first time in ages and a subs bench that looks decent. With 5 subs now, the increasing pace of the game - it is more of a squad game now than ever.
107 Posted 26/08/2025 at 07:43:21
108 Posted 26/08/2025 at 07:44:14
And I was pleased we missed out on Tete. I still remember how easily Beto coasted past him at the touchline for our third goal at Fulham. Tete put up about as much resistance as a traffic cone. I think we will do better at the deadline.
109 Posted 26/08/2025 at 07:58:35
One would imagine we cant spend much more now without getting close to the PSR line, unless we make some sales.
I wanted Kenny Tete because I think hes underrated and he was definitely the best RB on the free market. Would love Juanlu Sanchez but not seen us reliably linked to him so maybe a loan move is more likely.
Maitland-Miles and Mainoo on loan?
110 Posted 26/08/2025 at 08:01:44
As for McNeil, why would he leave? For the first time in his career hes playing alongside good players in a team that could achieve something. He covers 3 or 4 positions so will get games - albeit may not be a nailed on starter any more.
111 Posted 26/08/2025 at 08:07:44
I know ive been on this topic for ages, but it just seems so obvious...
112 Posted 26/08/2025 at 08:08:40
Id hope we get one, but links have gone cold.
On Mcneil, any bid of £25m plus should be considered. He has done far better than I thought for us. His lack of pace is an issue out wide and his recovery defensive play also misses that pace. Id hoped he could step up as a 3rd central player, as his shots are excellent- but that never seemed a goer. He isn't on big wages, but will probably want first team football. Id keep him till January and reassess. A desperate team may pay more in that window.
Also we need contracts sorting for Garner and Mykolenko. I think both are out of contract in the summer unless there's an option. We cant afford two players to walk on frees.

114 Posted 26/08/2025 at 08:34:35
Missed Ian#105 - extra 5 metres. Thanks for pointing that out. Really urgent.Thank Ian no wonder they where at sea when Tarks let that high ball bounce .
Ian#112
Two more contracts not sorted out! I agree regarding McNeill. It is becoming clear as Dycheball fades, the manager compensating for player quality, that some players are swimming naked as the tide of play moves up field.
It seems Bramley Dock is going to be a game changer.
115 Posted 26/08/2025 at 08:40:33
116 Posted 26/08/2025 at 08:42:40
117 Posted 26/08/2025 at 08:50:43
Bring in new young replacement players. The new era at Everton is structured that way by Bramley Dock and the Strategic plan now in place.
With Smith joining the Transfer team this week from Man City I expect a couple of Man City players in the pipeline.
118 Posted 26/08/2025 at 08:52:43
Yes he lacks pace and is one footed but his work rate is very good as is his ability to hold onto the ball, create chances and deliver well hit set pieces—- and is capable of a few very good goals.
I hope he is kept on unless we make a good sensible swop move that improves the squad.
119 Posted 26/08/2025 at 08:58:34
120 Posted 26/08/2025 at 09:00:33
As far as I know, your season ticket on your phone will automatically update, which I've heard will be today. I had an email last week saying payment had been processed successfully and my season “Card” has been activated, and to use as normal.

Moyes wants players who can get up and down at speed, especially to cover the full back. He tucks wingers in to supplement midfield when we don't have the ball and break fast. Where does that leave McNeil with so many specialist midfielders?
His only likely use is when we are under the cosh and need defence more than attack, then his workrate in our half is needed. Give him space to shoot, though, and he can finish.
I suspect he will be kept until next season but I doubt he will see much action.

This year, I had to pay £65 for the Forever Blue+ membership scheme and appear to receive nothing but the ability to buy a ticket earlier. Is this the case this year or have no packs been sent yet?
Not a big issue but I'm just back off my hols and was expecting something in the post on my return.

I'll have you a penny bet that Dwight will be needed in plenty of games and used either from the start or off the bench – and don't be surprised if he comes up with some goals and assists.
By the way, I hope Moyes and his coaches get the corners used with a lot more variation than doing every bleedin' one a long ball to the back post, one of our main tactics in scoring goals — that has to change!

I also can't get the App on my phone as it won't upgrade to the required IOS.

Without that, it's been a great one but we we've started the season without proper full-backs! If I was being greedy, I'd love a proven Premier League striker too! :-)

Mansfield took over 6,500 tickets and I doubt very much any will be returned.

Signed a Premier League legend as well as one of the brightest young talents around. 3 points and a clean sheet against Brighton, Pickford saves a penalty, Ndiaye scores the first HDS goal...
My God, it's a sight better than it looked about 2 years ago!!

Currently, dead-ball deliveries are pretty dire in my opinion, as are efforts on goal from free-kicks outside the box. On Sunday, we had a real option to shoot at one point but instead lifted a ball to no-one, bad call.
Even the cameraman focused on Leighton Baines who could take a mean free kick, fully expecting a shot... but nope. Moyes must have a plan, or I hope someone does...

This is about squad building and, as Moyes has said, he wanted 2 players in each position. We now have that in midfield. With a new right-back, we have it there. I doubt Coleman will play much, probably not start, but we have O'Brien. With Mykolenko fit, we have two left-backs. I think three strikers should be enough.
Be it through suspension, injury, or Moyes wanting to change the lineup or formation, there will be opportunities for all players to feature. I want us to take the domestic cups seriously, but certainly in the early rounds, the manager may mix it. And add to that, we will lose Gana and Ndiaye for Afcon come December and January, so a squad is important.

I have only seen glimpses of the lad playing for Southampton but many knowledgeable people rate him very highly. One of the reporters who writes for a local paper in Southampton described him being very like Gareth Bale. I think at this stage of his career, he is allowed the time to get as good as he can be.
I think the Grealish and Dibling signings are the ones Moyes desperately wanted. I also think that, apart from Grealish, the move seems to signal the manager and owners are moving to a much younger squad.
With Barry, Aznou, and now Dibling, these are players who will all get better with time, and being young, depending how successful they are, will have a decent sell-on fee should the need arise.
Considering many on here think Moyes is a very defensive type coach, I would think even his most sceptic critics have to be impressed with the signings of Grealish and Dibling. Although his signings when he was first here included a lot of attacking players, and he did sign Bowen, Kudos and Paquetta for West Ham. But he also knows that, to have good attacking players, you also need a sound defence, which we now have.

The manager loves versatility in the squad, so he will probably retain McNeil this season.
But I agree with Sam. If a compelling offer comes in and it allows us to get a quality No 6 or right-back, then we should sell him.

McNeil is still a good player who can do a job for us when required. I accept it he has a lack of pace but, at a time we are building a squad, why let one of our players leave when he can fill in at several positions when needed?
Maybe next season when we have had another window to further bolster the squad. But certainly not at this moment in time.
137 Posted 26/08/2025 at 11:56:46
No one is going to pay a lot for him, so keep him, I say. An injury to two players and we look very thin.

There is the occasional mention of an additional defensive midfield player being required. I hope DM starts with Harrison Armstrong tomorrow, as he did exceptionally well on loan at Derby County last season and we might have that answer already on our books.

At last we've signed some decent players and now we're getting posts saying we should get rid of the likes of McNeil and, before he re-signed, Keane.
Absolute bonkers!
We need a squad of about 24 players who are capable of slotting in or coming off the bench and maybe changing the game.

I'm put in mind of TV shows where they would produce a piece of art from scratch in about 10 minutes. The thing was, it generally looked like nothing until right at the end when a few key, bold strokes brought everything together and made it into something impressive.
I feel that is where we are at right now with our squad. Two or three key recruits (right-back being the one we all agree on) and we will have a squad to really compete this season and give us the opportunity to really grow in the years to come.
Are people worried we are at a point where we now have to sell to buy? I hope that isn't the case because I'm now happy with those I'd have as starters with good enough options on the bench.
I'd hope the freshening up of the squad and the new stadium would be enough for those that end up as primarily squad players to be happy to stay at the club for at least 12 months.
I've stated often enough that Dwight McNeil lacks pace and I wasn't happy when he was essentially one of the first names on the team sheet week after week, but he does have enough craft to get past players and furnish good chances with precise passes, and his long-range shooting is a great weapon to have in our arsenal.
I suspect he's modest enough to be used as an impact sub when the opposition's defence is tiring and more space becomes available for him to exploit.

I saw this headline yesterday!
Everton should forget about signing West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek, with Florentino Luis available.
