Harrison Armstrong has made a strong impression since being recalled from his loan spell at Preston North End.

After coming off the bench against Brentford, he played 87 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Wolves and was one of Everton’s best players in the game.

He also had an encouraging loan spell with Preston, making 17 appearances and scoring a goal and registering an assist for the Championship outfit. Armstrong was also highly influential in the second half of Derby County’s Championship campaign last season.

The 18-year-old midfielder, who has been with the club since the age of five, believes he brings a lot of versatility to the middle of the park. “I'd say I'm quite versatile and I've got different varieties in my game that I can give and that can be effective at times,” he told evertontv.

“I'm a team player, so whatever my abilities and whatever versions of myself I can give each game, I'm willing to do that.

“There are some really high-quality players around and I think you need to stay up to the standard of what they're trying to do and try to not look out of place, but also add your own sort of little creative bits and variety onto the game. Yeah, I'm just hoping to slot in, but also show what I can do.”

Further discussing his ability to play multiple roles in midfield and adapt to conditions, Armstrong added, “I think different positions, different formations and different styles can suit me at times. I can be effective going forward but I can also be effective defensively, as well.

“I think it just depends how the game goes. I can adapt and I do like to do a little bit of both attacking and defending, so [I'm] maybe like a box-to-box but I'm happy to go wide or maybe stay forward a little bit more. Or even as a six, I feel like I'm quite comfortable [there because] I played a lot at Derby.”
