Everton have shown a late interest in signing Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea.

The Toffees suffered a massive setback with Jack Grealish ruled out for the rest of the season and the Manchester City loanee could undergo surgery to repair the stress fracture in his foot.

It could force the Blues into bringing in another forward in the remaining days of the transfer window.

“The Merseyside club expect to face significant competition from clubs in England and Europe for the 19-year-old winger, who has made only five starts for Chelsea this season,” reports The Athletic.

Fabrizio Romano recently reports that Everton have sent an official offer to Chelsea regarding loan deal with an option to buy the player.

"Everton send official loan with option to buy proposal to Chelsea for Tyrique George. #EFC currently leading the race for George as talks are underway with many clubs keen on Chelsea player," he posted on X.

George was close to leaving Chelsea to join Fulham on a permanent deal last summer, but his parent side is now exploring loan options instead.

In the pre-match press conference before facing Brighton, manager David Moyes said that while Everton are still looking at the market, "it's probably less likely than likely" that they will end up doing business.

If I’m not mistaken Tyrique George is the young man that keeps Tyler Dibling out of the England U21 starting eleven.

That would be an interesting move…

Why not just play Dibling?

Have we tried for Harry Wilson yet — still,a couple I’d days left, get him and Grealish would be a distant memory, for me anyway!

Sky Sports reporting it’s between us and Sunderland for George. This is one of those “suits both parties” signings - imagine the smile on Barry’s face if it comes off. That would be a hell of a partnership.

Does he have much in the way of Premier League experience? If not, I guess we’re doing Chelsea a favour as regards to their wage bill while he keeps a seat on our bench warm.

Dave 4. Agreed, I think Wilson would be special for us. I don't think he's going to leave this window in order to get a massive payday on a free in the summer.

Exactly what we need. Energy, craft, an eye for goals, assists and real work ethic. I could see him and Dewsbury-Hall linking really well.

All depends if he gets loads of offers. With him being free, there's going to be loads in for him, here & abroad. I believe he's from Wrexham, so might fancy coming back to the North-West.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wasn't playing much Premier League football when we picked him up and that turned out okay.

Apparently, George isn't convinced about joining us. He's a London boy, probably wants to stay down there.

Apparently hes signed.

Can't say I know anything about him, hope hes got pace because we're desperate for it.

He’s super quick Andy. Needs a bit of polish with finishing touches but if we use him properly he can completely transform our front line. Only 19 but not afraid to take a shot. Take note, Tyler.

Just the little bit of negativity needed to welcome an "alleged" new signing.

Thats a safe bet. He's not played since the 16th December.

I expect that means Dwight can now leave to join Forest's fight to the death with West Ham. We should be so lucky...

Brendan,

And your answer to my question is...?

John #16

Of course he's unlikely to start but a lot of players who don't feature immediately but go on to make an impact.

We've done nothing in this window and the first suggestion that we possibly have... you piss on someone's chips.

I really don't understand why Palace or any club would pay the reported £43 million plus £5 million in add on's to Wolves for Strand-Larsen

Apologies Brendan,

You must be a member of that rare club, a sensitive scouser.

My point was the manager won't start him

I’m surprised that Chelsea, have never ever put this kid out on loan, considering he’s going to turn twenty, on Wednesday.

He’s played nearly half of his career total of senior games in Europe, and has got twelve EPL, appearances in the bank, so, it’ll be interesting to see if we sign him and where he fits into the clubs plans.

It definitely looks like the club have selected a policy of signing young players with pedigree and potential, but if young players are going to improve then they definitely need to be playing regular football.

Ian Bennett

Hopefully proves a shrewd signing.

Quick, good dribbler, goal scorer/creator, good size and ready to prove it. Been around England through the youth ages at U16 to u21.

So the answer to your negative question John, is of course he his unlikely to start!

Aznou, Armstrong, Dibling and now George. All of them very exciting young players with massive potential. Hopefully the future is going to be brighter.

John Collins

Fair enough Brendan.

We will see when the next few games team sheets come out.

All the best

John Collins

It wasn't a negative statement Tony.

Ive said for years the only way we can hope to compete in the future is to build a 3-4 year project with young players.

This is not the manager to oversee that project

I'm at that age. you're gonna have to give me a prompt mate.

Tony Abrahams

I personally didn’t think it was a negative question to begin with John, but fair play to you though mate because you’ve done very well getting such a quick answer out of Brendan!

I know I’m repeating myself but it does now look like the club have decided upon such a project John, so let’s hope it begins to bear some fruit, and helps us to become a lot more enjoyable to watch in the near future.🤞

There's a sizeable core now aged 19 to 25. All have good attributes, and should grow as players.
John Collins
33 Posted 01/02/2026 at 21:18:05
I hope that's the way we go forward Tony.

Needs patience from the fans as well.

On Moyes, he was my choice to come back last season, I knew there was little chance of relegation under him. He deserved this season on the back of that.

If we are to move forward with the project we will need a manager to trust them, allow them to express themselves.

Imo Moyes is not that manager mate.

Nathan Ford
34 Posted 01/02/2026 at 21:20:06
Hopefully he looks the part in training and Moyes is forced to give him minutes on the pitch. A permanent deal can only be included if he's happy with playing time at the club and as its a short term loan Moyes will have to play him or he'll never join
Tony Abrahams
35 Posted 01/02/2026 at 21:21:38
No Brendan, it seems like you’re getting quicker by the day mate!

I’m also hoping that bringing in a kid of a similar age might also help to bring Dibling, out of his shell because it doesn’t look like the kid has really settled yet.

Tony Abrahams
36 Posted 01/02/2026 at 21:34:39
Somebody on yesterday’s match thread said that they believed David Moyes, could be so much more John, and that’s something I’ve been thinking since this season began.

I often think that if David became just a little bit less reserved then it might take away a few of the reservations that I continue to have about him, but until he does, then I will always have a feeling that when it really matters, that he just isn’t brave enough.

Apparently if this lad does well we can sign him for £10 million. Beats the £50 million City want for Grealish.

he's played for Chelsea's senior side 37 times, scoring six goals. One of which got them into the CL last year. That's not bad at all for a teenager. And with the competition they have over there.
Rob Dolby

The evil Saka would be an improvement for us. Pace and an eye for goal. What's not to like for 20m

It's now the 2nd of Feb, when does the January transfer window end?

Paul Griffiths
44 Posted 02/02/2026 at 02:03:00
20 or so hours to get us what we really need - right-back, left-back, and a striker.
Paul Hewitt

Not a chance PG.
Tony Abrahams
46 Posted 02/02/2026 at 07:19:32
I’m intrigued to see him playing Kevin, because over the last few years I think it’s been quite noticeable that anyone who has been developed at the Chelsea academy, usually has a very good first touch.

You're right Ian 7PM. Less than twelve hours to get us two full backs and a striker. Another midfield kid should not be our top priority.

Coming to replace one of the goal keepers on the bench, will Moyes play him or will McNiel still be going through the motions
John Collins

Does he track back?

Can he cover his full back?

Two of the first questions to the scouts report I imagine

Don’t know much about this lad but all reports on him seem positive. Had a quick look at his highlights and, obviously, they look good.

Will he get a game though? I have my doubts. He looks a little too flamboyant for a Moyes player.

But, if he does get a game, I hope he hits the ground running and shows everyone how good he is
