I think the Premier League is getting tighter and tighter and each game the same.

I'm watching Aston Villa v Leeds Utd, second half... good to watch, by the way, with both teams trying their upmost to win the game and Villa happy in the end to get a draw.

Meanwhile at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea dropped 2 points which Burnley snatched from them in the dying minutes — I don't know how that game was fluctuating but it looked like Burnley wouldn't give up and that point could be precious for them or at least give them a bit of hope.

Dave,

I just caught the end of West Ham Utd v Bournemouth and it looked like both teams were trying to win the game but the quality was just not quite there, even from Bowen, who usually tries something magical.

But yes, the dreaded drive up the wing that stalls and sees the ball played all the way back... It's like an instant turn-off for me.

Let's see what the Sky luvvies have in store for us next with the City Slickers and the Skunk Maggots!

3rd from bottom is going to need 40 points this season

Good direct play from Man City, nice strike from O'Reilly,

City 1 - 0 Skunks

Nick Pope got a hand on it and should have saved that I think. He was in the wrong position and left too much space at his right-hand post.

Don't tend to hear the Geordies claim he's England's Number 1 much these days...

Skunks showing the value of having a pop when the ball comes to you.

Hall's shot deflected and in. 1-1

That's 2 or 3 times Marmoush has had a pop rather than playing in Haaland.

He's looking isolated! Oh no, wait a minute. A beattiful crosss from Haaland picks out O'Rielly... bang! 2-1.

Good game, Good game.

City 2-1 - exciting game this.

What is this end-to-end attacking nonsense? Don't these managers know they started the match with a point and it needs to be protected at all costs?

That's entertainment!

Can't believe they are actually taking shots at goal and attempting to score.

Amateurs.

Any relation to Eleanor, Mark? I know this is a footy thread too but hope Canada destroys the USA for the gold in hockey tomorrow. 🙏

On topic, the Skunks could get something here. City not looking as dangerous as they did in the first half. And Silva could have easily had a second yellow.

Sometimes I watch a City match and don't even notice Haaland until he inevitably scores.

Not so today, he's been quite good even if he hasn't scored (yet).

No Neil, my names Murphy, not Rigby.

Neil (13) I would have given the MotM award for the amount of work and running he did tonight, he looked like one of the few Man City players who played for the team tonight.

There was too much individualism by plenty of City players and although Newcastle gave them a good game. They might have got a draw with their last shot of the match, terrific save by the City ‘keeper there.

I thought the home team should have scored at least two more in that second half if they hadn't been so selfish, shooting when the easy pass was on for an open goal.

Good game though and that one goal difference made it a good game to watch.

Dave (15),

I was talking about Haaland for that MotM award.

Neil Tyrrell

Agreed Dave, he was my MotM too. That cross for their second, the running, defensive headers, he did everything but score today.

MK I hope you'll indulge me in a way off-topic question, putting it here in a non-Everton thread and hoping one of our music loving members can help me out. Paul G, Liam, Tony?

Used to go the pictures in Tuebrook on a Saturday for the serials and cartoons, Danger Island next! and all that. Good times.

If you crossed the road and hung a right, there was a record store on the corner, anyone remember it?

In 1978, they had a big Pistols window display and that's where I bought Never Mind the Bollocks for 4 quid. They had the pic disc for 6 quid too but I couldn't afford it.

Got all the singles at Probe but the LP at this place. Thinking it might have been a Virgin or HMV but it was a long time ago. Anybody?

I remember my sister taking me to that picture house, Neil, but I was only a young kid, and I can't remember anything else about how that area looked in those days.

I'm pretty sure the picture house was by the old Coconut Grove which was nicknamed The Karaoke when it became a popular venue in the late eighties, but I can't help you with the name of the shop, unfortunately mate.

The name of the picture House (cinema) was The Carlton, that's all I can add to the above posts!

The record shop was the Musical Box, it's still there.

Jeff ( 21). I don’t remember the record shop but The Coconut Grove became a pub The Painted Wagon, had some good nights there, but never met anyone famous.

Surely Van Dijk was a yard offside.

On the line photo, it wasn't even pic of Van dijk they looked at.

I can't believe Spurs' last Premier League win was on 28 December 2025, unreal.
Paul Hewitt

Never a foul that.
Tony Abrahams
30 Posted 22/02/2026 at 18:16:14
It's very debatable, Paul. I think once you have started your jump, then it doesn't take much to push you over but it's frustrating when you see the Spurs forward get a couple of big decisions go against him in the first half and then that one go against him as well.

Defenders can pull your shirt and then get the foul when you outmuscle them and then get away with completely leaving the ball to block your run, but the minute he gave a little bit back, then it's a foul.

Tony Abrahams
31 Posted 22/02/2026 at 18:20:19
It's easy to see why Spurs aren't winning when you watch this game, Christy. It's supposed to be a derby match but I haven't seen many Spurs players looking that desperate to really have a go today.

There's still 10 minutes left though so maybe they will make me eat my words?

John Collins
32 Posted 22/02/2026 at 19:21:59
I thought the same, Tony.

Simons jumped out of three in the game. All in his favour.

Tony Abrahams
33 Posted 22/02/2026 at 19:28:14
I think we play Spurs in the last game so maybe the boot will be on the other foot and it could be the Spurs fans worrying about relegation?

A real possibility if they don't start improving soon.
