Idrissa Gueye reveals that Everton players are trying “to bring the club where it deserves to be.” The Toffees remain in the hunt for Champions League football next season after their relegation concerns of recent seasons.
They’re eighth in the table with 46 points following their 3-0 win over Chelsea at home before the international break - three shy of Liverpool in fifth. The victory over Liam Rosenior’s side ensured lift-off at Hill Dickinson Stadium and was one of their finest performances of the season.
Asked about his side’s dominance against Chelsea, Gueye responded, “Because we followed the advice from the staff and the manager gave us confidence.
“He said to us before the game, 'We really need to start playing like home today,' and I think the last game we did here gave us more confidence.
"We went on the pitch and we played as a team. We defend like a team, and that is what we need. We try to bring the club where the club deserves to be.
“The last year was not really good for the team, but now we start going forward, and that is what Everton needs."
Beto scored on either side of the half-time break while Iliman Ndiaye wrapped up the win with a curling effort that found the top right corner.
“Great game. We really played good as a team. We stayed calm with the ball, and we defended very well and we needed this win at home because our fans were behind us.
“They pushed us to win this game, and 3-0 without conceding a goal is very good for us and for the team. We just need to keep going in this way because.”
David Moyes’ side almost had a three-month winless spell at home but they’ve bounced back with consecutive clean sheet victories over Burnley and Chelsea.
“(Playing at the) new stadium, it was not going well the last few games, but the last game we won, and we won again, so hopefully we continue like that.
“I think everyone enjoyed the way we play and everyone will enjoy this victory, and hopefully, the next game we will win again.”
Asked about the prospect of playing in the Champions League next season, he added, "We just need to keep calm. We just enjoy playing football and winning games and we will see at the end of the season.”

Its definitely there for us if we all have a go.
Fans included.
If he plays with the front foot aggression, the aggression our fans respond to, I will give him all credit due.
I often wonder does he ever think what it would be like to lead this club to a trophy. He goes down in history if he does.
"Don't die wondering"
A great saying.

David Moyes does not want to win a trophy. Why would he want that on his CV or mentioned at his retirement party or his funeral? As with virtually all football managers they don't want to be known as a winner. Pep is absolutely gutted he has so many trophies. He is ashamed of the money he has been able to spend and the trophies as a result. And he is just typical of every manager - none of them want to win anything and David Moyes is no different.

1st, we have spent a few quid, so surely you should improve as previously we have had to sell the likes of Gordon and Onanna -- who have both played Champions League footy.
2nd, we are still not past our last 2 seasons' totals of 48 points.
3rd, if Jordan Pickford was not in goal, then we would be with West Ham and Spurs! Let's not fall into Moyes's trap please.
4th, how can you play every week with no right-back and no right-winger? Please, Moyes, go away from our club... Now!
5th, mid-table is not anything great.

I'm torn, but I think that it has to be #5, if only for this gem:
'2nd is we are still not past our last 2 season total points of 48 points'.
Erm, we ended up with 40 points in 2023-2024,
🤠 Erm, we are two points off 48 with 7 games still to play.

Lets see where we end up in the table.
He gets us Europe he's done well.
He finishes 8th or lower he's done the job he's famous for.

We had 8 points deduction to add to them 40 points.
Come on, you forgot about them.

That figure is without the loan deals of Grealish and Rohl.
Hes working on a shoestring budget.

We beat Chelsea 3-0 and we ended up with 4 centre-backs and a left-back on the pitch at the end of the game... Wow!

At least someone on here can recognise a sense of humour.
I blame mine on being brought up on Merseyside. Probably why more plastics from over the park don't have one.

I think keeping hold of KDH and James Garner and Ndaiye might be David Moyes biggest job come the summer.
