Everton return to action after a three-week hiatus to take on Brentford at the GTech Community Stadium on Saturday.

The Blues were on a positive run of form before the latest international break, winning three out of their last four games. Their only loss during that period was against league leaders Arsenal where David Moyes’s side could’ve easily come back from the Emirates with a stalemate.

Everton beat Newcastle Utd away from home before recording back-to-back triumphs over Burnley and Chelsea to brush aside concerns surrounding their form at Hill Dickinson Stadium where they hadn’t won since 6 December 2025.

Their performance against Chelsea was one of the best of the season and it further bolstered Everton’s European hopes. Beto scored either side of the half-time break while Iliman Ndiaye secured the icing on the cake with a top-bins finish.

Brentford, who are level with the Toffees on 46 points and just ahead of them on goal difference, are expected to be competitors in the race to secure the 5th Champions League spot.

Everton have picked up more points on their travels (24) than at home (22) this season and they’ve accumulated 41 points away from home since Moyes returned to the club last January — the latter record only bettered by Arsenal with 48 cumulative points. Everton are also unbeaten in their last three Premier League visits to Brentford.

Brentford, meanwhile, will head into this game on the back of three consecutive draws. A 2-2 stalemate with Wolves was sandwiched in between goalless draws against Bournemouth and Leeds Utd, both away from home.

The Bees have also failed to score in three of their last five outings, with head coach Keith Andrews admitting that it will require a “mammoth effort” for Brentford to keep alive their aspirations of European qualification in the coming games.

Brentford have also failed to win any of their last four matches at home despite amassing 26 of their 46 points at the GTech Community Stadium this season.

Brentford vs Everton - Team News and Predicted Starting XI

Everton Team News

Everton will hope to have star forward Iliman Ndiaye fit and healthy for the clash against Brentford after he pulled out of the Senegal squad with a foot injury. However, he was seen participating in the open training session this week.

Jack Grealish is going to miss the rest of the season while there are apprehensions surrounding Charly Alcaraz after the midfielder has failed to make the squad in the last seven games due to an unspecified injury.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a contender to return to the starting XI and Moyes might persist with Beto leading the line after his heroics against Chelsea.

Everton’s predicted starting lineup: Jordan Pickford (GK), Jake O’Brien, James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite, Vitalii Mykolenko, Idrissa Gana Gueye, James Garner, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Dwight McNeil, Beto, Iliman Ndiaye

The betting is 11/10 Brentford, 5/2 Everton and 9/4 a Draw. approx.

It was a few days ago 1/1, 2/1, and a draw 5/2 it seems punters are backing a draw more than a win for either side. It is hard to call, so that's not suprising, I suppose.

I think Moyes will play the same team that beat Chelsea and I can't see why we can't win this one. It seems they are not in top form but they do have home advantage.

Like I say, I think a tight win for us.

Looking for a ticket for the Brentford game so if anyone has any going spare you can get me on 07809 510888, please!

I know it's a longshot and apologies for putting it on here, but the old ticket threads don't seem to exist on TW anymore. Can meet at the ground. :-)

I think you have picked the starting 11, Anjishnu -- I hope so.

I fancy us to win this one and I actually feel quite nervous about it in a positive way. A feeling I haven't felt in a long long time.

State of us -- going for the Champions League.

It's stressful but, all things considered, I prefer this sort to what Tottingham have got in their fight to the death with their cockney neighbours.

Not much meat in another scintillating pre-match presser from Moyes.

Charly Alcaraz is back in early training and, while he isn't ready yet, he's on the way back.

From what? We have no idea. I don't think his mystery injury was ever revealed, but it's kept him out for seven games.

He added that others like Branthwaite and Ndiaye are 'fine'... Let's hope that means they actually play on Saturday and don't mysteriously disappear...

Michael (6),

I think Alcaraz had started light training three weeks ago.

I like the kid, but Moyes doesn't, so I will be very surprised if he plays for us again — unless it is essential through injuries.

We can win.
Perhaps we should win.
But just when we get a sniff of moving up the table, out comes an abject performance 🤷‍♂️
That’s the Everton way 😎

I am looking forward to this game. If we play like we did against Chelsea we should win but we must be wary as Brentford are a very good team and are not to be underestimated.
It’s great to be thinking about Europe rather than survival.
I was anti Moyes being appointed but I have to admit that he has done a sterling job so far.

Shaun we have seen it many times but surely not tomorrow mate.
Davey needs to get them at it from minute one.
7 cup finals coming up.
Best opportunity we have had of getting Europe for a long time.
If Moysey gets us there it's hats off to him.

Alcaraz and Grealish weren't at open training on Tuesday, whilst Tarkowski was absent also.

So let's see if Tarkowski makes the game.
Brian Foley
14 Posted 10/04/2026 at 17:32:51
Predicted line up is probably right.

If Tarkowski is struggling, the only change will be Keane, quite right.

But, with due respect to McNeil, who has played well recently, Armstrong or Ireogbunam should play as legs will be needed against this more industrious team, especially away.

Big test, this one. We've had opportunities this season to kick on at key moments and we've missed them chances, but still we find ourselves in this fantastic position, with it all to play for.

This one's massive: beat Brentford, dent their confidence, send a signal, put down a marker for the others we are fighting with for Europe.

Branthwaite will be key; Thiago gave us a lesson last time... Jarrad's pace is much needed.

We have to go for the win, but we can't lose this one!!

Your Bees correspondent here...

I am totally relaxed about this one as I am not convinced that getting into the Europa League competitions is going to do us any favours.

Brentford are always in the Bottom 3 in terms of turnover and wage bill and this is reflected in the size and depth of the squad. I fear the Thursday & Sunday routine would have an inevitable adverse impact on Premier League results, so would be delighted with finishing between 8th and 12th.

This alone would be an outstanding achievement, considering the disruption last summer on the coaching and playing front. One of the best things about the modern Bees is the way that the club make the assembled army of media tarts, ex-player rentagobs, clueless experts etc look very foolish.

Hope it is an entertaining match... I think the Toffees might well win.

John Hood, good insight. Would you get slaughtered for saying these views on a Bees fan site?

Think where teams go wrong when overachieving and getting into Europe is, you have to prioritise the Premier League. If you can't strengthen the squad enough to compete on both fronts, then it has to be secondary to keeping or improving your league position the following season, to continue improving long term.

Kieran (35) - see post (16).

First need to match Brentford's industry and ability to sting with little warning - they are definitely not relaxed bees!

As long as we don't allow them to gain an early advantage we have enough to threaten their goal regularly and then it will be a case of who makes the most of the opportunities they get.

In answer to a couple of comments:

All Bees' fans agree that qualification for Europe would be a brilliant achievement but most are realistic about the potential pitfalls. Brentford cannot afford to splash out £40-50M on squad players, so it is always a difficult balancing act for the club.

Re my comments on media gobshites: ToffeeWebbers are obviously excluded... it is a rare site where the posters seem to understand the club and its history rather than indulging in moronic banter and childish tantrums.

First goal today very important. The Bees are very much a counter-attacking team with real pace up top but struggle against a defence in depth.

My take is a narrow Everton win.

John Hood, welcome back.

Brian Harrison
42 Posted 11/04/2026 at 10:34:03
Good to hear from John Hood,

Brentford have exceeded what most pundits predicted would happen when Keith Andrews took over from Thomas Frank. They seem to be a well-drilled group who have unearthed yet another top striker in Thiago, I don't know how they keep finding these strikers -- something we struggle to find.

This will be a tough game as they have the same excitement of playing in Europe next season. John Hood thinks they may struggle squad-wise with 2 games a week... well, if Palace and Forest can manage it, I am sure both Everton and Brentford can.

How nice to have an expectation of European football rather than worrying if we will still be in the Premier League next season -- something we have had to deal with for the last few seasons with 7 games left.
Mal van Schaick
43 Posted 11/04/2026 at 10:35:27
Thank you for the insight, John Hood. I think that will be a closely contested game and I hope Everton come out as 1-0 victors.

We should learn from the Brentford home game where Thiago ran riot. Put the shackles on Thiago and sneak the win will do me.

John (16),

Welcome back on your twice-yearly visits to ToffeeWeb! I'm with you all the way on your views of clubs with small squads competing in European competitions, although the big one could make us some money.

Your views on the media tarts, ex-players, pundits etc are very true.

This could be a close game today between our clubs but I can't see Everton losing to be honest.

Very best wishes, John, to a very genuine old-time football supporter who might agree with the old slogan “May the best team win”!

Excited and nervous in equal measures for today. I think today will go a long way to prove if we are going to be in this fight for 5th, 6th or 7th.

With due respect to a good Brentford side, we have to beat them! COYB!!!!
John Collins
46 Posted 11/04/2026 at 12:07:14
Two scenarios in the changes today.

"Right boys, this is the best chance this club has had of reaching the Champions League for decades. I want you on the front foot from the first whistle, right in their faces with fast-paced aggressive football."

Or...

"Keep it tight, boys, see if we can pinch one!"
James Marshall
47 Posted 11/04/2026 at 12:37:03
Is the Champions League a good idea for us right now? As the Brentford fan above says, we'd struggle hugely with our squad next season.

I'm not convinced the Champions League is the holy grail everyone thinks it is. We'd need a squad overhaul and our Premier League position would surely suffer, and for what?
John Collins

James Marshall

Don't give up, John. I was merely suggesting a scenario that could play out. Of course I want us to be in Europe.

It's not all doom & gloom, just a talking point.
John Collins
50 Posted 11/04/2026 at 13:01:18
£17M, just for qualifying, James. Over £2M for each win. £700k for a draw. £11M for reaching the last 16.

More options for getting top players in because they will play Champions League. Profile of the club goes through the roof.
Kevin Molloy
51 Posted 11/04/2026 at 13:13:34
Once Spurs are down, it may be sensible to have a quick rummage through the squad for any players at Champions League level for our campaign next season.

There's one or two bargains there, I expect.
James Marshall
52 Posted 11/04/2026 at 13:20:12
Yeah I agree on the profile aspect and the ability to attract better players. I would still have Premier League concerns without more squad depth.

We saw this season, with a few injuries, we had to call on players not really up to the job.

I'd certainly love us in the Champions League though.
Paul Murray
53 Posted 11/04/2026 at 13:38:16
Enjoy your game, John Hood. I've been very impressed with Brentford this season, they were the best team at our place and played us off the pitch.

Hopefully we sneak a win. I can see an entertaining draw here though. We should always aim to finish as high as we can and then deal with the situation. Champions League we might not be... but a trip to Barcelona and Paris would be okay for me! 😁
John Collins
54 Posted 11/04/2026 at 13:46:02
