Beto Completes Fiorentina Move for £17M

Everton have officially confirmed the departure of Portuguese striker Beto, who has returned to Serie A to join Fiorentina in a permanent deal worth approximately £17M (€18M).

The 28-year-old completed his medical in Florence following a late-window breakthrough in negotiations, bringing an end to his 3-year spell on Merseyside. During that tine he scored 25 goals in 113 appearances across all competitions.

When Beto arrived from Udinese in the summer of 2023 for €30M, he brought an infectious enthusiasm and an unvarnished, physical style that endeared him to large swathes of the Goodison faithful. From his goal-scoring debut against Doncaster to that memorable solo run and finish to cap a 3-0 victory over Newcastle, nobody could ever question his work ethic or dedication to the shirt.

However, consistency remained elusive. While he frequently hit purple patches during the mid-season runs, long goal droughts and technical limitations meant he never fully nailed down the primary No 9 spot. With Thierno Barry establishing himself under David Moyes and Beto entering the final year of his contract, recouping £17M represents good business for the club as The Friedkin Group look to reshape the attack.
