Against my better judgement, I decided to watch the Newcastle game, but the Geordies are so ordinary, it's almost painful to watch, did they really have an extra man for almost an hour?

I thought Everton were the only club to have a serious inferiority complex when facing the other lot, but it seems the Barcodes are vying to overtake us on that one.

What it did prove, is if you have very good strikers, you're always in with a chance no matter how much of the ball you have or don't have. The other lot often score at least one a game, and usually more than one, that maximises their chances of taking one or three points from any given match.

I won't be watching them again until they visit Goodison, it's almost as sickening watching them win as it is watching Everton fail to win.

It pains me to say this, but across the park they are winners, that was one hell of a win with 10 men. They not only have good scouts with contacts but they find endless finishers, and have done for years.

They were trained to be street fighters by Shankly and it remains with them to this day. Only Man Utd and Arsenal haven't been scared of them in my lifetime whereas our weird preoccupation with style over substance rather than win at all costs has fucked us right over.

Meanwhile, I'm on holiday in Bavaria, near the Austrian border and a town called Passau. When I was here last year, I left my Everton hat at my rellies so was glad to be reunited with it.

On Saturday, me and the missus got a little train into Passau together for her birthday lunch. I moaned that I'd forgotten my hat and she said not to worry, no-one in Passau would know who Everton are!

An after-lunch walk over one of the bridges over the river and I spy this bright yellow shirt coming towards me. As he got closer, I recognised the word “Sakes” (sp) so we stopped for a chat.

After about 15 minutes, our respective wives were pulling us away like a pair of dog owners pulling at the leads! Always a pleasure to meet a fellow Blue. UTFT

A few years ago, me and the missus were on safari in Kenya, in a lodge in a national park (can't remember which one), which was up a mountain in the middle of nowhere.

Now you wouldn't expect to see an Everton shirt, about 4,000 miles from home in such a remote location but, lo and behold, there we are at breakfast, and in walks a lad in an Everton shirt. He went to the food counter while his missus sat down.

I looked at her and she looked back. In the end she came over and said that she knows me. Turned out they were both season ticket holders, about five or six rows behind me in the Upper Gwladys.
