Newcastle Utd U18s 4 - 2 Everton U18s

Everton U18s kicked off the new season with a defeat at the Newcastle Utd Academy.

Everton fell behind after 13 minutes and, despite two changes at half-time, were 3-0 down by the hour mark. It only got worse when the home side converted a penalty but, in added time, the substitutes Luca Davis and Charlie Stewart scored a couple of consolation goals.

Everton U18s: G Pickford, Maher, Butler (46' Stewart), Thomas [Y:88'], Foster [Y:34'], O Samuels-Smith (76' Davis), Finney (85' Allen), Bates (46' Gardner), Van Schoor, Beaumont-Clark, Armstrong.

Subs not Used: Lukjanciks.

I think most of the starting XI have had appearances last season and the goalkeeper, Douglas Lukjanciks was the one who got the bulk of the time in goal for the U19s in their Obendorf showing last weekend.

Not sure I've seen Luis Gardner mentioned… but he's listed at TransferMarkt as an Everton Youth midfielder.

The only Stewart I recall is Jak Stewart but he's a goalie and left the club last summer, I thought. Ah… Charlie Stewart, midfielder, per the official line-up.

Arian Allen is a new one for me, a striker.

Luca Davis has also had the odd mention. (Note spelling: not the same as Tom Davies… formerly of this Academy and still 'without club' since he rejected the contract Everton offered.)

These youngsters need to get used to getting beaten if they're to have any chance of becoming first team regulars!
