These fixtures will strain every sinew of the squad.

Good news and I'm pleased for Isaac Price getting a hatrick tonight for Northern Ireland.

UTFTs!

Get him in first-team squad.

I actually think, the tougher the opponent the better we tend to perform. It's against the teams around us that we underperform against.

Might be difficult that one, Bobby, we sold him to Standard Liege last year.

I was so surprised by those fixtures.

I had to go & check the FA Cup round dates - & indeed, the 3rd round is due to be played the weekend of Saturday 11 January, a week later than I'd expect.

This is why we need to string together some wins in the remainder of October and November.

Yes, the manager still has some work to do before he gets a gold star for job well done from me.

Hope people getting all misty-eyed for his fine efforts in navigating us through some terrible times isn't somehow tempting fate considering we are still some way off ensuring BMD's first season is as a Premier League ground.

The next ‘six-pointer' is just around the corner.

Paul @1, yeah I noticed that yesterday too.

However we know Dyche by now, unless absolutely in dire straits, he will persevere with non-scoring duds rather than give youth a chance.

Nearly every other team in the Premier League bloods these youngsters but rarely us!

Any game is winnable and we have to play these teams throughout the season. We might as well get them done.

Football is a game of surprises and throws up surprise results.

As always, go into every match confident, not fearful.

Ever the optimist, Danny.

Does this mean we will get an equally daunting April or May?

We can be a match for anyone at Goodison, but those fixtures at The Emirates and The Etihad are definitely the games where I would personally be rotating my small squad and saving my team for those other winnable games.

I have emotional scars from the Emirates, Tony, walking back licking my wounds on a few occasions and the wife calling me a child when I got home in a bad mood! That was me sleeping downstairs.

Neil, I'm terrible. I annoy my brother and son, who are from a younger generation. I've never walked onto a football pitch or watched Everton thinking we will not win.

I see the derby has been shifted to an early kick-off. For me personally, I don't know if that is worse than a late one. I guess my sister will be called into action to put me up overnight.

Danny,

I haven't engaged in ToffeeWeb for a while. Dipped in and out to keep me up to date but missed your post on 4 July. My sincerest sympathy to you on the passing of your wife.

On the Everton front, I can relate to your feeling as I also am renowned by my friends who always know how Everton did at the weekend by my mood on Sunday morning.

Take care of yourself, hopefully a successful season will lift some of the pain of your loss.

Tony (11) I agree. In December 1997 Howard Kendall rested key players for a Boxing Day match at Old Trafford. We lost 2-0.

Howard had his eye on a key fixture two days later, a six-pointer at home to Bolton. A Duncan Ferguson hat-trick and a great save near the end by Thomas Myhre gave us a 3-2 win. That result was crucial in helping us to avoid relegation that season.

Had we by some miracle beaten Man Utd and lost to Bolton, we would have gone down. Some games are more important than others.

There’s optimistically 9 points in those 7 games. Just give our most precious ones the day off for Arsenal and City

Thank you, Neil. I thought about getting her name on the big screen at Goodison, which they do every year. We did it for my uncle a few years back.

But the family said no. I'll see if Villa do something similar.

John, was that the season when the Bolton "goal" wasn't given? That would have sent us down if goal-line technology and VAR were around.

Even Arsenal and Man City away are winnable — every year, they suffer a surprise home loss to someone, why can't it be us?

Look at Forest this season away at the R/S (now that's when I don't mind mentioning them).

We would have had a comfortable draw at The Emirates last season barring one mistake.

Danny (16),

Yes, it was that same season. We drew 0-0 on the opening night of the new Reebok Stadium.
