Everton U18s 3 - 2 Liverpool U18s

Kean Wren celebrates scoring the third goal that beat Liverpool U18s at Finch Farm

It's a very late micro-derby victory for Everton U18s on Saturday as they came from behind to defeat Liverpool in added time.

And the Reds took an early lead after just 9 minutes, but the young Blues were right back in it after 20 minutes when that man Braiden Graham popped in the equalizer.  However, the local rivals took the lead again before the break.

That's the way it stayed until the 90 minutes were up, despite a slew of second-half subs… but added time provided redemption for the Young Blues with first Aled Thomas and then Kean Wren getting very late goals to condemn the Reds to a very welcome defeat.

Everton U18s: Lukjanciks, Finney, Van Schoor (84' Wren), Davis, Thomas, Gardner (62' Poland), Clarke, Olayiwola (62' Loney), Morgan, Graham [Y:16'], Catesby (62' Matos).

Subs not Used: Patrick.

Looks like we got a win 3-2 with 2 injury time goals. Some positivity going into the weekends games.

MorganThomas and Wren with the two late goals!

Get that young Graham training with the first team to show them how to put it in the net, a natural goalscorer

He'll get me out on a freezin' cold winter night when the U18s play in the FA Youth Cup.

Sorry, Dave, but two sources showing it was Thomas who got Everton's second goal.

Mark your calendar for 11 December: Everton vs Nottingham Forest in the FA Youth Cup Third Round. Will it be at Goodison? They seem to have relaxed that rule…

Malik Olayiwola started this game @ Number 8 for Everton.

Only 16 but rated by some. I've never seen him, have you any information on him, Michael?

My spy said George Morgan with a header from a corner, but I stand to be corrected.

Wednesday 11 December 7:30pm kick-off, if it's at Goodison I'll be there, hat scarf and gloves on as additions to my usual attire, hope this kid is playing!

Fantastic effort and result!

And a significant "foot forward " from the next generation into our bright, new future.

Dave,

It looks like Malik Olayiwola has had a handful of games over the last year… pretty slow starter by the looks of it, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I thought we had an article about him signing on but it doesn't show on Google Search… and I'm way behind on my Player Profiles.

Also, Dave, your favourite horse has spoken thus:

The score remained the same heading into the final stages of the contest until centre-back Aled Thomas popped up with a 91st-minute leveller.

And the Toffees' celebrations weren't done there when – in what has become a welcome habit of late comebacks for the Under18s this season – Kean Wren slotted home a winner five minutes into added-time to secure a memorable victory.

From the horse's mouth…

Michael (8), I stand corrected.

Whoever scored against them it is highly appreciated especially when it goes towards a win!

Michael (7) I think the reason Malik hasn’t played many games is because he is still at school, he is 16 on New Year’s Day 2025, so fifteen and playing in the U18’s maybe he’s not such a slow starter but a live wire young kid!

Ah, right. Perhaps he can't play during the week, coz of school.

And somebody needs to go back to school — see what you make of the penultimate paragraph in the Echo's report on the game

Always satisfying. And crucially there seems some real talents in this team. Braiden Graham will hog the plaudits as all Evertonians are crying out for a natural finisher like him at the moment but Justin Clarke has looked in great form too and the goalkeeper Douglas Lukjanciks has been playing for England at youth level.

Signs of good scouting as the first two were bought in this summer. Let's hope the club can develop them well. With finances tight and a load of the first team squad leaving this summer we could use some players from the academy able to step up over next few years.

It looks like George Morgan scored that goal after all, I think your horse talks double Dutch!
