David Moyes is positive about Everton’s push for Europe after his side secured a splendid win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

The Blues came back from a goal down after a poor first half to turn the contest around. Everton, who haven’t played European football in nine seasons, are now eighth in the league table with 37 points.

“We did well to make sure it was only 1-0 at half-time and we played much better in the second half,” Moyes said

“Hugely important (win) and I think it probably keeps us away from the big R word at the bottom of the league, that’s for sure.

“The idea now is to try and push on, but every win you get in the Premier League, you get quite excited and then you lose a game and can easily be at the wrong end of the league.

“I don’t want to come in here and say we’re trying to avoid relegation. I don’t want to do that because Everton have had too much bad news and bad publicity, so I’d rather come in here and say we’re having a go at Europe.

“You might laugh at me in a few weeks’ time and say, ‘How stupid was I’, but I’d rather be positive and try to make the players know that is what I want. They do know, they know as well and they are well aware that we’d like to do that.”

The Toffees have been especially strong away from home this season and the win over Fulham was their seventh victory on the road so far. Victory at Craven Cottage will be particularly memorable because only the top three teams in the Premier League table have got more home wins than Fulham this season.

“The challenge really for us all is to try and make sure that we can try and challenge whatever's above us. Whether we can or not, whether we're good enough, whether we can get the players back to the levels they were probably in September-October, that's something we need to try to do if we can,” Moyes added.

“But it was a great performance today from the players. They did a brilliant job, they really did. We turned it around at half-time. They worked, they were more intense, they were quicker, faster, we played well, our football was good.”

The Everton boss watched the game from the stands at Craven Cottage. He was banned from the touchline after picking up a yellow card while celebrating Beto's last-minute equaliser against Brighton too enthusiastically.

“It wasn’t fun watching it up there,” Moyes said.

“It is a bit sad if you’re going to get that for showing emotion if you like. No doubt I broke the rules. No doubt I ran on the pitch, but just check how many people from the Arsenal bench ran on the pitch when they scored the other night.”
