A trip to the banks of the River Thames and Marco Sliva's Fulham side at Craven Cottage is on the cards this afternoon.  What strip will they wear?

But, equally important, what line-up will Moyes go for now he has almost a full squad -- and the addition of exciting youngster Tyrique George on loan?

But of course Moyes, ever cautious, sticks that young talent on the bench, alongside Tyler Dibling, to whom Moyes has issued his strongest verbal challenge yet. Jarrad Branthwaite is also there, Moyes sticking with experience over skill and speed, as Mykolenkoo gets to start ahead of him.

No room for Dwight McNeil or Seamus Coleman anywhere in the squad.  Former Blue Iwobi starts for Fulham but Antonee Robinson is only on the bench.

First Half

The Blues, all in blue, kicked off and Ndiaye quickly got in behind but his cross was intercepted. From a long O'Brien throw-in, a deep cross did not reach Armstrong on the far post. Fulham's response ended with an offside flag.

Gana was barged overe as he waited for a high ball to drop but Everton wasted the free-kick. The ball was worked well down the left but Armstrong played the wrong ball. He got a chance to make amends with an easy through ball or a shot but messed that up as well. However, Chukwueze fouled him wide left.

Garner went for goal and Leno was alert to tip it over. The corner was better, to the far post where O'Brien got slightly under it, hitting the other post! Coulda scored!!!

Everton were winning the ball back well but wasting possession with long balls that Barry had no idea how to win.  A good Fulham cross forced Pickford to come out and punch the ball behind. Fulham came close from the corner, O'Brien heading off the line. Everton defended the next corner but could not break out and Mykolenko fouled his man.

The free-kick from Harry Wilson was headed away by Tarkowski, with a foul called against Fulham. It had been a much more lively front-foot start from the Blues but 15 minutes gone and nothing to show.

Instead, it was Fulham who mounted a stronger attack, O'Brien having to make a crucial clearance. But the next attack was defended chaotically and Sessegnon's shot saved by Picford but coming back off Mykolenko for an own-goal. Bummer! Gana booked for an excessively dangerous tackle on Smith-Rowe in the build-up.

A flowing Fulham should have brought a second as they surged down the Everton right but for a brilliant save by Pickford from Chukwueze's first-time strike.

Armstrong battled with Castagne, winning another free kick on the left, but Dewsbury-Hall could only put it into Leno's hands and Fulham, galloped away, winning another corner. They kept up the pressure, Everton unable to clear, Ndiaye easily robbed, Smith Rowe striking one first time that smacked off the bar above Pickford.

When Everton did finally regains possession, the choice was to work it back to Pickford from an advanced midfield position before the inevitable turnover saw Fulham attacking again.

Dewsbury-Hall played a good ball forward or Barry to work with but he was just a fraction too slow to get his shot off and it was blocked behind for a corner. That came out to  Dewsbury-Hall who drove it wide.

From the Fulham goal-kick, they were quickly into the Everton area, Smith Rowe forcing the ball in to Jimenez, who had the easiest of chances but he too drove the ball wide with the goal gaping.

Ndiaye and Armstrong swapped sides and that saw an Ndiaye cross parried to Armstrong who looked to volley into the far side of the goal but it flew wide of the angle by a foot.

Fulham: Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Cuenca; Iwobi, Chukwueze, Berge; Sessegnon, Wilson, Smith Rowe; Jimenez.

Subs: Lecomte, Tete, Bassey, Reed, Rodrigo Muniz, Bobb, Kevin, King, Robinson.

Everton:   Pickford; Mykolenko, Keane, Tarkowski, O’Brien; Garner, Gueye [Y:18']; Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Armstrong; Barry.

Subs: Travers, Patterson, Beto, George, Dibling, Alcaraz, Branthwaite, Röhl, Iroegbunam.

The lad was never gonna start.

I know he's only just back from injury, but you have to play your best players, surely?

Branthwaite not playing is just shocking (unless there is an injury doubt).

I'm more than happy for. Jarrad to be eased back in. After the last year? with nothing to play for?

who should have been dropped so that we can play the teenage loanee?

The time we get a positive thinking Manager can't come too soon. Moyes would get a job on the Oil Rigs he bores that much.

Garner, Gana, KDH across the middle.

Ndyiae, Barry, George up top.

Branthwaite and one other (take your pick).

Patterson right back. A nice balanced, attack minded team with plenty on the bench.

Michael

No kidding. Aznou now not even on the bench after daring to put in a good performance off the bench the other week. We could have Pele and Moyes would argue Tony Hibbert brings more overall quality

Might be in the minority here but I don’t think Gana Gueye does enough (cue him scoring today)… Rohl looked much more effective especially with the ball

Kieran #14, I would say that Hibbert was an infinetely better right back than Pele could ever be.

Neil 17: but it’s effective!… would be rather play expansive football like Big Ange, Thomas Frank or Lampard when he had up

Playing a back 3 and losing every week!… I’ll take smash and grabs all the way to a European place. There is more than one way to skin a cat…. Why do people get so obsessed with watching nice flowing attacking football. That only exists in a handful of leagues and teams around the whole world. If you go down the pyramids in any country, watch Sunday league, watch school kids or even just recreational games at a local park, the football is shit, disjointed and not too pretty!! That’s what the game is all about!… its about going to war for 90 minutes and finishing on top! Not looking good doing it. imo…. I love turgid, scrappy, dogged games. I love being the worse team and winning…. That’s why football is so great. If you look up and down the country any given weekend, through all 5 leagues of the pyramid. I would say the shitter team wins around 30% of the time. No other sport is like this to my knowledge. You can be the shitter team in a football match a win 30% of the time. It’s great!

Coleman and McNeil are not a big miss, but the starting 11 just isn't the best.

If its needed, will he put his hands up and make early changes?

overall it is a really strong team with some good players on the bench that can be used. Never expected D.Moyes to bring in new players he is always safety first, just thought he should have continued with Patterson.

Nobody else free to play right-back? Preferring Keane to O'Brien in the middle has not ended well of late.

Moyes plays Jake at RB when he opposing team has a dangerous left winger because the shuts them all down!… he had Mitoma in his pocket against Brighton…. He’s a unit, he’s fast and is too dangerous wingers. Most teams outlet is a quality forward player and Jake shuts most of them down…. Also it’s clear what Moyes’ plan has always been. He demands his team be fitter than everyone else, he makes the lads run miles and miles in training and demand elite fitness from every player. So we keep the games close, get to half time, get to around 60-70 minutes at 0-0 then bank on being the fitter team and nicking results when the other team tires. This is why we always claw ourselves back into games when we go a goal down and the play gets skewed, we are fitter at the back end of the game. And if we score earlier then it’s a bonus for the gameplay. Fitness is key to making Davey’s team.

If Harrison Armstrong is starting the prohibition isn’t just against youth b inexperience.

I suspect Jarrad is being eased back in with Moyes believing he can still rely on the others. He seemed to feel a twinge in his back after one aerial contest last week.

Hope the manager has got it right. Three points today could be a springboard to a proper improvement this season.

Come on you cockney crushing Blues!

That goal was a defensive shambles. Reminded me of our defending when Silva was manager.
