Lower Breck 1 - 2 Everton U21s

Everton U21s come back from a goal behind to secure semi-final spot in this season's Liverpool Senior Cup at Lower Breck on Wednesday night at Anfield Sports & Community Centre.
Lower Breck of the Northern Premier League took the lead in this quarter-final just before the half-time break and it looked like that would be enough until a remarkable late turnaround.
It was not until added time at the end that Malik Olayiwola broke through the home ranks in the 92nd minute and played a one-two with Kingsford Boakye before drilling an excellent low shot into the home goal.
The Lower Breck keeper then totally blotted his copybook when he somehow allowed Braiden Graham to reach a long forward ball before him. It was a howler and Graham couldn’t believe his luck as he simply rolled the ball into an empty net to give the Young Blues a remarkable late turnaround win.
Everton U21s: Lukjanciks, Davis, Thomas, Welch, Moonan, Akarkiri, Pita, Gomez, Ebere, Olayiwola, Loney.
Subs: Patrick, Samuels-Smith, Van Schoor, (Bates) Beaumont-Clark, (Graham) (Boakye).

One of the biggest attendances was when Ian Saint John made his debut for Liverpool at Goodison and scored a hat-trick although we won the cup 4-3.
So the Liverpool Senior Cup is not regarded very much even the Cup itself is a much better looking than the FA Cup or it was - a big golden trophy.

That 4-3 game was in 1961.
The smaller clubs (Marine, Formby) first win in the late 1970s, and started to dominate about 10 years ago, when the big clubs had for a long time been playing their Academy sides.
And there's a strange spell in the 1960s when the record says Competition not finished. No idea what that was about but it happened 6 times.

Might that have been the year of the big freeze which we managed to avoid the worst of owing to the newly installed underground heating?

I have always thought our honours list should have the 1939 Charity Shield shared with Portsmouth, 1985 European Super Cup shared with Juventus, and the 1989 FA Cup Final should never have been played and should have been shared. There wasn't even a European place at stake.

With the recent madness going on in the world, I don't think it will lead to World War Three because that only happens when Everton win the title.
I, like most people want peace, so that's one reason to give Moyes the manager's job as long as he lives.

The Big Freeze was 1963, which was not one of those 6. The record says:
Southport beat Tranmere Rovers in the semi-finals. The other semi-final between Everton and Liverpool could not be arranged due to fixture congestion; therefore, the Liverpool Senior Cup was awarded to Southport.
I thought the Echo pages from back then were searchable? eg, the Blue Correspondent... but he has a big gap between 1960 and 2000.

The U21s are playing at Reading tonight.
Team :: Lukanciks, Davis,Van Schoor,Welch,Thomas,Gomez,Boakye,Akarakiri,Pita,Olayiwola,Graham.
Subs— Patrick, Bates and Samuels-Smith.
I think they are taking a chance playing Graham with the much more important game taking place on Friday v City in the FAyouth cup.

For some reason, these local competitions hardly register -- despite it being one of the oldest competitions Everton have played in -- the one they have won more than any other!
That's including a 4-1 win in last season's final over the same opposition, Lower Breck.
Nothing on YouTube, and very little on other websites that track the Academy.
