Kalou, Diame, Rodallega would be good additions to the squad. However we won't be able to afford Kalou's wages, Diame says he has offers from Spain, Germany and France and he had Liverpool sniffing round. Rodallega seems like the only feasible option. I think Manny Fernandes is a great free option also. As always, I am sure we will all be kept guessing and put through the mire till 2 minutes before the window closes and we sign some random player on loan for the season. The joys of being an Everton fan during transfer windows!!!!
Pavel Pogrebnyak looks like he knows where the net is, would provide good cover and back-up to Jelavic
That McFadden looks a handy one!!!
Likewise that Saha fella should be worth a punt...
I'm surprised Guthrie is available, think he is a good player and would sign him up. Cuellar, Johnson and Rodallega would also be good additions on a free.
Kalou and Bosingwa if they would be interested.
Danny Murphy, Somen Tchoyi, Ric Fuller and Andy Johnson on one year deals.. on the other hand, they could have all had it.
Hoilett, Hoilett, Hoilett, Hoilett, Hoilett, Hoilett, Hoilett!
I would be tempted with Andy Johnson (back up) and Danny Murphy (back up) Craig Gordon (back up) and obviously Sol Kalou although his wages would blow us out of the water!!!
Wouldn't it be something if EFC signed a few of these (or others) within the next week?
Piennar before any of them, though.
I thought Boswinga looked great until he got injured last year and has not reached the same level since coming back.
Could be a "Moyes" job and would certainly help our "attacking" RB requirements.
Diame too would be good but seems destined for the RS.
I think Blackburn and Wolves have some "out of contract" players that could be useful too.Hollett certainly springs to mind.
This bunch are 'freebies' for a reason. Most ( not all ) are either:
? Too old
? Too injury prone
? Or just actually shite...
A few are actually all three of the above...
Mark (802), I'd say more than a few.
Some decent players who would add quantity if not quality to the squad, but the latter should come before the former. I'd take Rodellega but I'd also take a look at the better players at Rangers who have reduced transfer fees. What you pay in a fee is probably what you'd be paying in wages for a free transfer.
But I'll echo James (800), sign Piennar first.
When I saw that list on Sky Sports it made me shudder at the thought that Moyes might try and sign some of 'em. Maybe 3 of 'em are decent but the rest are to be avoided.
Hoilett in a heartbeat. If the wages are reasonable, Bosingwa as an attacking RB would be worth a try. And maybe Rodellega as back-up.
Nothing to get the pulse racing for me in there, didn't know Sunderland had released Gordon though, blimey. Also surprised Ledley Kings been released....? He's the crock of crocks but Spurs fans love him.
Hoilett. Sell the deadwood and spend the rest on Pienaar.
I wouldn't be interested in any of them.
I think we need to be realistic when suggesting signing loads of these players available on a free transfer. We cannot survive at present with our wage bill without selling players yet we are expected to add 4 or 5 players who at bare minimum would want 20-30K per week. Some such as Kalou would want in excess of 50K.
Many of these players are past their best but one or two could bolster Everton's squad if the price/wages are right. We need another front man and Rodallega gets my vote. At the back Nelson or Knight would be good cover. In the midfield, yes by all means Guthrie would suit me. Face it though we won't get any.Moyes will think he has it made with what he's got.

It all depends on who we are going to sell in terms of our big name players. There could be a lot going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. A decision could already be made and the club doesn't want to announce it yet as it may adversely affect season ticket sales or put off potential targets. On the other hand if we don't yet know who it is we're going to sell then signing a freebee as a replacement or as cover isn't right in terms of timing.
If we sell Baines or Jags for example, we wouldn't be able to afford to buy a like for like replacement. If one of the freebees could come in and do an adequate job then fair enough too.
I don't think there is such a thing as a freebie.
Seems to me even a player you get for " nowt " costs a fortune in agents fees and a bit of a bung of a back hander to get him sugned on.
As usual we will not be able to sign even a freebie until we sell.
I hate to say it and am hope I am dead wrong but I think Big Fell is being lined up to go.
Just signed a new contract so won't be let go on the cheap.
His dad sounds a right arsehole.
Not involved in the Euros so no problem with coming back injured or "tired"
Plus he a brilliant player !!
Felli away for 20 mill. One freebie in and the bank happy for another year. Oh yes, and Moyes signes another contract.
Shit we'll have to sell another !!
We should definitely sign up Michael Owen, just for the banter alone he'd be worth a pay-as-you-play deal!
hoilett is not on a free, unless he physically leaves Blackburn first a tribunal will set an amount of compensation hat must be paid to Blackburn. Therefore he is too expensive for us.
The only player on that list I would even look at is Rodallega.
Fernandes, Barnetta, Hoilett, Rodhellaga, Diame, Gordon All would improve the squad.
Fernandes has been and gone. He is part of Everton past for me. Craig Gordon would not improve us, he is no better than Howard and will also want big wages. Rodallega would be a good buy, but he is going to want a sign on fee and wages that cancel out the fact he is on a free.
Hoilett is a good, good player but as Steve points out he will cost 4-5m to an English club. I think teams will blow us out of the water with regards to wages also.
Diame I like, but unless Fellaini goes I don't see the need for him. If Fellaini does go, I think we need someone better than Diame, if you know what I mean.
Overall, I think that the only player I would look at is Owen, as I feel there would be a deal to be done based on our and his Geography. If he played 15-20 games, I think he can get a goal every other game.
Bosingwa and Hoillet on the right and Baines and Pienaar on the left means goals goals goals for Jelavic!
Paul Scharner, to stop him always scoring against us.
We need a winger and another goalscorer. We don't need a central midfielder unless we lose Felli and we don't need any defenders.
Hoilett is not free because of his age. Kalou's wages are too high; so I would look at Rodallegga, Owen or Johnson as the extra forward.
Barnetta would be a great shout for the wing.
I know we're skint so everybody looks at freebies, but it doesn't work like that, which is why Moyes always looks at loans first. So I would rather look at a list of potential loanees than freebies.
Hopefully Citeh will now go on a massive spree (again) and maybe we could get Micah Richards (how the fuck has he not gone to the Euros?) and Johnson (who must be so pissed off Downing has got a slot and he hasn't) and Citeh are so effin rich they might loan them and pay their wages. R/H side sorted.
Who else ???????
Rodallega. Another goalscorer and someone to partner Jelavic (if Moyes were to branch out and play two up front) or at the very least great competition for Jelavic next season to keep him honest.
We are in need of a class right back but I am not sure if Boswinga is the player he was before his injury. He is quick at raiding down the right wing but so is Hibbert, the difference being the final product. Boswinga though probably has a big wage check. Owen might be okay for the pay as you play deal but he is not as quick as he used to be. By the way does anyone know why Vellios fell from favour?
He looked as if he could make a spot his own with the right coaching.
There's been some great frees in the past...contract talks work both players, and some of the players listed above are free because they wanted to be.
Kalou would definitely improve our team and most in the league. People forget how good he was, but has suffered from poor treatment and being played out of position at Chelski. His record in Holland was immense and he had a great time the season before last.
Rodallega would obviously be a good addition as well, and Hoilett of course.
Ledley King, Jose Bosingwa, Rodallega, Danny Murphy (ducks behind sofa).
Emile Heskey, I guess he is on the list for purposes of accuracy, something that you couldn't claim for his shooting on goal. Most of these are has-beens, years ago they'd go down to division 2 or 3 to eke out a few more shekels. Now your ex top flight players go for millions to the Middle East or QPR. In the spirit of the question, I'd take the Drog for a year, but of course, he ain't coming to us. A fun diversion yes, serious no.
How about the Hurdy Gurdy Man or the Sunshine Superman anyone? Failing that Jenifer Juniper is on a free. Yeah they are all Donovan songs....
