Based on nothing beyond supposition, this story in the Daily Star claims that Everton are concerned Spurs could price them out of a transfer move for Stephen Pienaar that would secure his return to Goodison Park beyond the end of this season, when his loan deal from Spurs expires in the summer.

There have been suggestions by those in the know, however, that a deal to sign Pienaar permanently in the summer was agreed by Everton with Tottenham on 31st January.

Beckford in trouble at Leicester
