Jack Grealish has undergone surgery to repair the stress fracture in his foot and the Everton forward confirmed that his season is over. The 30-year-old made the announcement from his hospital bed, sharing both his disappointment as well as a determination to return stronger than ever.
Grealish, signed on loan from Manchester City, was experiencing a career revitalisation with the Toffees before the injury. He had scored two goals and registered six assists in 22 appearances and had been a key player for David Moyes.
However, what initially seemed to be a calf injury in the aftermath of the 1-0 win over Aston Villa quickly escalated and medical checks revealed a stress fracture in his foot.
“Didn’t want the season to end like this, but that’s football, gutted,” a dejected Grealish wrote on Instagram.
“Surgery done and now all focus on getting back fit. I know for sure I will come back fitter, stronger and better than before. The support I’ve had since coming to this unbelievable club has meant the world to me.
“The staff, my teammates and especially the fans have been incredible and I absolutely love representing this club. I’ll be backing the lads all the way and doing everything I can to get back as soon as possible. Thank you again for all the love, it means so much. UTFT.”
The injury also ends an outside chance of making it to Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad. Grealish, who hoped to impress Tuchel after making the move to Everton, last played for the Three Lions in October 2024.

Whether we want him or not is, I think, more nuanced than just judging him by his football contribution on the pitch.
His personality on and off the pitch is infectious -- he connects with the crowd like nobody else, he attracts attention from all media, his 'one-of-us' persona is I think genuine and the way he interacts with people, especially kids, is sincere. People really like him. And he likes us.
In effect, in a football sense, he gets us off our seats, and in a business sense, he puts bums on seats. I can see us negotiating a deal, and I can see him taking it.

I don't see him with us next season, not least if the unknown but higher price for George is met.
Really touching words in his interview. Wish Jack all the best, with us or not.

I don't believe everything that I read. But who knows?

Is his not returning to Man City got something to do with us buying him after his loan ends? I was expecting him to return to Man City.
