Besic flies in as transfer saga nears conclusion
The 21 year-old was photographed at San Carlo restaurant on Castle Street in the City Centre today prompting expectation that he will be at Finch Farm tomorrow to finalise his transfer from Ferencvaros.
Besic looked set to sign for the Blues a fortnight ago amid reports that a £2.5m deal had been struck with the Hungarian club but negotiations stumbled over complications over the fee. Later reports, echoed by media sources this evening, claim that the final price will be closer to £4m, with the bulk of it due up front.
The midfielder is believed to have cut short his post-World Cup holidays to link up with the Everton squad in Austria last week and his apparent arrival in Liverpool today suggests that he is finally close to sealing his move to the Premier League.
This tweet from photographer Gareth Jones went viral this evening:

He looked a lot younger a fortnight ago – that lad's far too young to be an agent surely. But seriously let's hope he will be worth all the 'effort'.

I'll never ever ever believe anything again unless I see it on our official site. This has been a horrible window so far.

With any luck, he's here for us not as a stop-over, now somewhere else, or to visit the Poisonous Dwarf.
Gerard Depardieu's cousin looks like he knows his way round a menu though.

There will be more players coming in the next few weeks but I will refrain from sticking my neck out any further. Let's just say that a certain LVG will have a big say.

I’m sure most would welcome Hernandez with open arms, and I would certainly join them but for me I can’t help but think Welbeck would be a great buy for us. I think he may do something similar to what Sturridge has done for them.
Anyways, feed me the info.

I dreaded Man Utd going for Pochecttino and Spurs getting him is not much better news, in my opinion. I do hope their lack of patience undoes them again. I guess the good news is that Saints are sunk right now.
Colin, I don't mind Lukaku here but definitely not for the limb Mourinho is asking for.
Didn't get to read much on his crazy other than that old bit from his Bundesliga days. Wonder if he's going to be wilder than Dunc.

Interested to see how much LVG is focused on not bolstering his opponents (e.g. Everton) and how much he just cares about his team, which I think is more his egocentric style (and I mean that in a good way). Taking more players off Man United wouldn't be a bad thing for us; Cleverley, Fletcher, Lil' Green Pea and the Prodigal (or was that Profligate?) Wayne would all be appreciated thanks very much :-p
At least LVG already offloaded Buttner (no surprise their given their history) who seemed more suited to the other lot anyway i.e. he's a crap defender, he's full of himself and seems like a bit of a knob-head, otherwise I'd be concerned, even with our lovely range of left backs on offer ...

Kieran Kinsella 14: After all the misinformation, screw ups etc I donÂt even want him to join Everton anyway. The summer is already ruined. Too little too late. Thanks, Bill Kenwright. Same old story.
Breathtaking! Can I just say ... feck, I canÂt put it into words ... I canÂt find the words

If Traore is not coming, maybe Welbeck or Hernandes plus Lukaku and Henen (assuming he counts).
Or could there be a cheeky bid for the lad from Norwich.
Watch this space (or follow the Colin Glassar page).

So that leaves 4 signings to be made. I am thinking:
Besic will be our 1 mid-field signing
Lukaku remains our main striker target
Martinez will probably sign 1 winger to supplement McGeady & Pienaar – Redmond / Moses / Atsu (on loan)
And 1 more striker – Wellbeck/Hernandez or Traore (on loan)
The next season, Martinez will probably turn his attention to the defence: Howard, Distin, Alcaraz, Jagielka will be reaching the end of their careers. Baines will be a year older – so a new goalkeeper and a new centre-back would come in next year possibly?

We'll have to wait and see but this lad (in the admittedly meagre offerings on you tube) looks to have a fighter's attitude and he didn't do a bad job on Messi by all accounts. I couldn't help thinking that his body language reminds me of a young Peter Reid or even Jimmy Gabriel. A real winner.
If it works out that his skill matches his attitude, we might well have two fine young midfielders forming a great partnership for the future.
47 Posted 24/07/2014 at 07:41:07
As for the next summer transfer window, who knows – but I think we will need to start looking for cover in the Barkley/Osman No 10 position as Osman (like Pienaar) was showing some signs of a decline last season and I think the end may be approaching for him.
For other positions, it will depend on how the U21s and other young players develop over the season. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves heh – one transfer window at a time.

I don't want no more hold ups, no more hitch with the work permit or medica. You can imagine Kenwright now, "Let's think of an excuse why the deal will fall through."
I just want it complete with 48 hours, surely anymore than 48 hours is taking the piss again.
This time next week, I want at least two others in.

"Or could there be a cheeky bid for the lad from Norwich."
Hope you don't mean Ricky Van Wolfs(dick)Winkel there Jay?
What a prolific marksman he was, I think he he only scored about one, and guess who that was against?
Only joking mate, I said on another thread in response to Ajay's post that I couldn't understand why we didn't get the lad, when he was at from Birmingham, and he wanted to come, saying he would prefer a move to Everton!
Thing is now if we did go for him, he would cost more than the ٠M-ish figure quoted then, that sounds about right for Everton though.
Would love to get Chicharito too, even if we used him as an impact sub like Manure did, but don't fancy Cleverly etc. but who knows what the Blue Tooth Fairy will deliver before the window comes crashing down!

What I have been told is the only hold up for the Lukaku deal is the McCarthy deal to Manchester United. Chelsea have upped the asking price and the only way we can afford it is to sell first. Once the deal for McCarthy to United for 㿅M goes through, we will get Lukaku. Besic has been brought in for cover for Gibbo and Barry.
Again not sure how true this is but I believe it. Hope i'm wrong. Surely we can't be that skint. Can we?
58 Posted 24/07/2014 at 09:28:02
Think you slipped up there mate, you could have just used him as second half sub. ie. 45 minutes = ٧ Simples !! :-)
59 Posted 24/07/2014 at 09:33:39
Keep it coming nonetheless. Very entertaining and you might turn out to be right.........when someone actually signs.

BBC headline "Partick sign Osman" there goes our chance of scoring another goal from a corner.

Read that as well and saw pictures of with Anderlecht , but before we assume anything, I think he is doing this as a way of keeping fit.
As far as I know, he wasn't due to join up with Chelski until next Monday, when they transfer their pre-season training programme to Holland !
It is possible I suppose then, we will know more, when he has a face to face with the Special One !
Personally I think, Mourinho being Mourinho, will delight in it dragging on, and him being the lynch pin, in the outcome of affairs.
We must all remember too, that although contracts don't seem to be that binding these days, but however he is still their player, and up to a point at their behest !
74 Posted 24/07/2014 at 17:14:54
It's a strangely worded article but even I accept that there's at least a 50% chance he'll sign.
75 Posted 24/07/2014 at 17:14:31
I’d say that’s signed.
