People Who Live in Glass Houses

By Nick Armitage :  26/01/2009 :  Comments (29) :
Rafa?s latest childish outburst has just confirmed what Old Trafford have been singing for the last month, the fat Spanish waiter is indeed cracking up. Benitez is perfectly within his rights to comment upon Everton?s tactics but he has quite simply lost the plot if he thinks that a ?small club? like Everton is going to go toe-to-toe with Liverpool in their own backyard.

The onus on a home team is to attack. Liverpool did at least have a go but if Rafa expects any opposition to roll over and die and let them win then he clearly hasn?t quite sussed out the game of football, or the idea of competitive sport in general. You play to your strengths. We have the tightest defence in the Premier League at the moment so we played to our strengths and defended ? it ain?t rocket science. We had no strikers, so we tried to pinch a goal from a set piece ? that ain?t rocket science either. And if Liverpool can?t defend against set pieces then hard luck.

The team Moyes put out in the FA Cup tie cost less than their forward, and hats off to Torres, he is quite simply one of the best strikers in world football. Why he is wasting his talent at Anfield is another matter, but why on earth would Moyes not want to defend against him and their other player Stevie G? Just because Liverpool had more possession and apparently were in control of the game and because they were being beamed into the living rooms of millions of armchairs, it doesn?t mean they have the right to win.

Rafa?s latest rant is bizarre and even more incredulous when Rafa himself made his name with his own brand of 'backs to the wall' defending against his more illustrious opponents in La Liga. The only reason he is still employed by Liverpool is because, away from home, he ground his way to a Champions League Cup by battening down the hatches and pinching the odd goal. When David Moyes turns the tables on him, he spits his dummy out like a petulant child.

Oh well, Rafa is unlucky. He can expect more of the same next week, but this time we may even have some players who can attack and most of our kids and reserves will probably be back in the reserves by then.

Perhaps in the replay Benitez should show a bit of humility, because, if it wasn?t for a goal keeping blunder, the shite wouldn?t even be contesting a replay at Goodison.

I can?t figure out if I like the way Moyes has handled this outburst or not.

On the one hand, he?s been very professional and dignified, which I like.

On the other hand, I?d like to see Moyes bite back once in a while. Maybe mock the FSW for having his striker cost as much as the whole team and not score. I would absolutely love it if we beat them at Goodison, and Moyes could work in the term "small club" in some way.

Sorry Nick.
But only great men can show humility, dont hold your breath for that one mate.

We had scored a goal and had a decent shout for a penalty before Howard had anything to do on Sunday.
So I really dont get this "playing for a draw" shite. Since when did defending a lead constitute playing for a draw?

Benitez has a very short memory, only a week ago his side took the lead against us and what did he do? The hypocritical twat immediately took his two strikers of in order to preserve their lead... or was he playing for a draw???

The man is a tit. Don’t have a pop back at him, it only gives him some kind of twisted dignity. I believe he thinks he is playing mind games, while trying to cover some of his hugely expensively assembled side’s shortcomings. Beating the dark side in the replay might dislodge a few more kidney stones.

@Jimmy Crack:

I think David Moyes played it just right. He didn?t rise ? or more accurately, sink ? to it, but his response was loaded enough: "We do things with dignity here" ? the subtext being that Rafa clearly does not. He bit back all right, he just avoided making himself look a tit doing it...

On the nail. I believe it?s called hypocrisy. Los Bastardos have spent their time under Beneathus playing boring, smothering football. He was the first man to introduce not one, but TWO! covering midfielders, against better European opposition. Why? to stop them playing, rather than to play themselves.

His team have opened up just once this season, away to Newcastle, who are a shambles. The guy is a very sore loser (or even drawer) and lacks style when it really matters.

As many have said, be interesting to see how he?d approach a game away to, say, AC Milan or Real Madrid, if he had Gerrard & Torres out. Now what do we think, 4-3-3?

He?s shown himself to be a prize prick. Some of his players clearly share the same trait, e.g. Mascherano.

On a broader front, I recently skimmed a section in Jamie Carragher’s book (mainly to read the Everton chapter) where there was a repeated reference to a famous RS quote from the 1970/80’s ex-chairman Sir John Moores who states, "We’re a very, very modest club at Liverpool. We don’t talk. We don’t boast. But we’re very professional" ...... with a clear insinuation that the ?talking is done on the pitch? etc.

I’m not sure what the old RS guard would make of Benitez’s endless and undignified childish whinging about not ’getting what he deserves? this season, but as far as I’m concerned this fucking Spanish prick espouses the exact opposite of what many of the RS like to think of themselves as being a model football club with unquestionable dignity and principles.

Benitez needs to have a good look at himself and accept that for all of his millions of pounds on the park (and on the bench), he does not posses the guile, tactic and astuteness to beat a severely weakened and inexpensively assembled team on home turf. It is then poor form to criticize Moyes?s tactics for his own failings, both in the transfer market and on the pitch.

Benitez, like no other, absolutely epitomises everything about the RS.

I think it?s pretty clear that, ever since the ?small club? comment, Benitez can?t handle the heat of derby matches if the result doesn?t go his way. I really think a lot of foreign managers and players struggle to understand the significance of a derby game. Benitez finds it harder than most, he?s frustrated and confused by it all and it demeans him and his club.

As far as Moyes is concerned. I?d rather he ignored it completely, don?t dignify the comments by responding. Benitez has done himself and his club no favours at all, leave them to it.

I don?t know about any of you but I love the fact the Benitiez is in charge of the RS, and long may it continue!

The longer he is in charge of wasting all their money, increasing their debt and quite frankly taking them nowhere, I will always sleep that little bit better at night.

Having a better manager than them FUCKING RULES doesn?t it? Ahahaha!

I don't really care what he said! The fact is he couldn't find a team to beat a badly depleted Everton side! When we get the shite back to Goodison, our playmaker Arteta will be back, big bad Fellaini will be back to kick the shit out of that prick Gerrard, and maybe Saha will be back ? although who needs him when we?ve got Tim!!?

When I told my RS mate last year that Liverpool would never win the league with the chubby garcon in charge, he acted like I?d just stabbed the baby Jesus. As long as this classless pudding remains LFC manager, and continues to waste endless, borrowed dollars around on dross like Keane and Dossena et al, Liverpool will continue to under-achieve.

Honestly, what would Mourhino, Ferguson, O?Neill or, dare I say it, Moyes do with their squad? Davey?s response to Rafa?s usual bollocks was dignified and showed that, whilst there is a gulf in class on the pitch between us and them, there?s an even bigger one off it. COYB!

I don’t give a flying monkey’s arse what any of that shower think. We may have been lucky, we may have not. The bottom line is we got decent results in both games and now have a chance to turn them over with what will hopefully be one of the most electric atmospheres seen any where this season. BRING IT ON.

Does anyone remember the Chelsea semi in 2005? I seem to remember the shite parking a bus on the 18 yard line for 60 minutes of the game, without a genuine excuse of a depleted team. Must of escaped that fat twats memory when he lied and said it’s never happened with the shite, fucking hypocritcal greasy piealla serving prick
Imagine how great it would be if the RS went to old trafford without all their strikers, gerrard an alonso. Do you think they would throw caution to the wind? Would they shite!
I am never normally this confident about the blues due to obviously painfull experiences but if we get mikel and screech back in the reply we will beat them, why? Because we’ve realized there is fuck all to fear from these arrogant bastards

Dave Wilson is spot on. The hypocritical fat buffoon substituted both Torres and Keane whilst 1-0 up with 10 mins left on Monday night... That doesn’t suggest he was thinking attack, attack, attack as the Norwegians like to sing... more that he was thinking defend, defend, defend... the same tactics employed by the blues whilst 1-0 up against his shower. I for one was absolutely gutted that his defensive tactics on Monday night didn’t quite work out for him.... oh no hang on... i celebrated it like a lottery win. Fat Rafa should feel free to carry on spurtting out his bitter tirades... the only people wincing are his Norwegian followers.

Where in the rules of Association Football does it say that any team has to play a certain way? The bloke's a moron, you can do what you want as long as you play 11 blokes all wearing the right kit.

On another note ? I work for a Norwegian company and know a lot of Norwegians, and not one of them follows the RS ? where does this Norwegian thing come from exactly?

I?ve spent time there too and I didn?t meet any RS supporters ? they all support Chelsea in my experience.

Hello. I live in Serbia. I love Everton after Predrag Radosavljeviæ (you call him Preki) play for you. Sorry he was rubbish then! He play better in MLS though.

I travel quite a lot and meet many nice lady. I meet Scottish lady and also Spanish lady. Spanish lady was very nice and with class. Scottish lady not so nice and talk too much.

From meeting these lady I always did think Spanish people classy, Scottish people not.

Now I hear Rafa Benitez talk and David Moyes talk and realise this is not true. Benitez is the one who talk too much and say so many bullshit things. He wastes a space on the earth and Spain must be embarrassed by him!

David Moyes he speaks well and never sounds a stupid asshole like Benitez. Everton should be happy to be with Moyes and laugh at Liverpool who with Benitez. After Everton win replay at Goodison Park then maybe Benitez leave England and should maybe go and die!

Nick A - perfect analysis and great piece

Dave W. - right on

The FSW is a moron. I said it before in another post - kicking the ball around the perimeter for 90+ minutes with no real threat except for one piece of brilliance by the lady boy and Howard letting a soft Stevie G shot through is not dominating.

The FSW is a hypocrite and lacks class.

I’ve officially crossed the line - I hate the RS. As a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan I never thought any sport organization would surpass the New York Yankees in the hatred category. But it’s official - I hate those pricks at Anfield with their arrogance, stupid spending, and condescending attitude even more.
F the RS and COYB!!!

Although a STH, I decided to watch the FA Cup match in our club... credit crunch and all that (Yeh, more like my Missus "you spend too much time and money on football").

It was humbling and very clever the way David Moyes conducted himself. I have said it before and I make no excuse for saying it again: Moyes is a class act. Even my RS mate was lost for words, unlike his manager the FSW. What a twat he is.

Like others in these forums I hope he stays around for a long time. He is so good for us and now the money has run out, this season is his last chance to do something. I can see more and more players leaving next year and having a parting shot at him for his tactics and personality. Just like Pennant and Crouch did I wouldn?t be suprised if Steven G went.

Oh yes, if they don't win anything, I think he?ll be ready for his swan song with the likes of Real Madrid or either of the 2 Milan clubs coming in for him. I doubt he would stay in this country with him gone, the thoughts that are running around my head.... He He He! Roll on.

The man is a mad twat, he is simply jealous that he is some Yank's puppet and has to do as he is told, he does not manage to put a team out that can address different tactics.

The rest of the knobhead red shites who go on about in Rafa we trust are equally at home in mad twatish zone, or indeed causing some form of riot, which ends up as a tragic event!!!
