Everton release new away kit for pre-order

Everton FC
Everton's change strip reverts to white for the coming season, with Umbro and the club unveiling a design incorporating Prince Rupert's tower.

The new kit will feature grey shorts and predominantly white socks while the shirt has a subtle, light grey pattern evoking the roundhouse that adorns the club crest.

The reverse of the jersey features a silhouette of the Blues' record goalscorer and historic icon, William "Dixie" Dean in royal blue, the color that is carried through onto the trim, badges and logos on the kit.

Everton's new away strip is available to purchase on pre-order from evertondirect.com, Everton One and Everton Two now, before going on sale on Thursday 20 July both in store and online.

Ewwww. Ugly as sin.

I think the shirt looks good from afar. Looks cheap zoomed in on the official site. And the grey shorts are terrible. They should be blue or white.

It's brilliant!

Lovely colour and the shorts are ace. I much prefer it to the home kit.

Nice kit. Way better than the awful yellow.

Looks more grey than white on Mirallas, so the grey shorts don't look too bad as they did when you see them in isolation.

Love it just like I love the home kit. Lightweight will make Rooney run faster.

I like it much more than the home kit. At least they tried to do something interesting

Not so bad. Looks more like pale grey than white though, in this pic. Might've been better with blue socks or shorts. Any chance of a shot of the back of the shirt?
Mike Green
11 Posted 10/07/2017 at 19:09:40
Not for me but at least it's a bit different. And you're right Nigel, if it's as unflattering as that on Kev I dread to think what it would look like on me! :D

My kids wreck these light kits.. some of the new training stuff released today is really nice though... bit cheaper for the kids too if they're young and less fussy.

I really like it. If you manage to get a proper look at the pattern, it's very clever. EFC mixed with Rupert's tower all in a kind of MC Escher pattern.

I've just got out my "Rooney" shirt from his early days with us. Stretches surprisingly nicely in the front.

It's a thumbs up fro me, I like that kit and the way they have incorporated Rupert's Tower into the shirt material pattern it looks good. Grey shorts and white socks just fine too, well done.

Brent, it must have shrunk in the wash. The shirt, I mean .

Is it the fact it rains so much and you rarely actually see the sun that makes you all think two different shades of gray with a washed out royal highlight and poop-white socks looks good?

Is that a 1970s pattern in the shirt? Very modern! Not!

Abysmal! Depressing! Lacking the hope and fire for a new exciting season!

And yes, it looks as if Super Kev has been staying up until 3 a.m. all summer drinking a 12-pack and finishing off a dozen chicken wings.

I like to stay positive but sometimes something has to be said, this kit is wishy washy rubbish, wouldn't spend a bent penny on it.

Whoever is responsible for designing our latest shirts wants kicking into touch.

Worst pair of shirts home and away since mid 00s. Horrible work from Umbro this year. Both look like pyjamas. Rooney and his kids will sleep well in these.
Kim Vivian
25 Posted 10/07/2017 at 20:57:41
I'm ok with this. Prefer it to the home kit actually, and grey shorts look ok. There's some sort of cool looking pattern in the weave which is maybe what gives it the slightly off white look. Not flattering on the wrong shaped body though, so I will have to give it a miss! Stick to the t-shirts.
Brian Wilkinson

I think it looks decent, not stuck on clingy tops so looking at that design, extra size up looks the order of the day.

It's probably an improvement on the home kit, but little imagination. Why not buttons up the front, more of an effort.
Jeff Armstrong

Buttons up the front! What, like a cardie? Now that would be radical! What about a pair of mits on a string down the inside of each arm for the winter months...

David Pearl

Actually I quite like it.

The home kit would be much better if the Umbro shoulders were white like the older hafnia ones to match the white sponsor name. It looks cheap because it's a print. This however, is more like it.

ToffeeWeb posters express polar opposite views on new kit shock.

Said no-one.

Let's just hope we have a decent third kit, so if the players can't see each other away at Leicester, they can change, a la Man UTD at Southampton all those years ago.

Apart from Kev apparently auditioning for the John Hurt role in a remake of Alien, I have to say, It's bloody horrible.

Drones visual perspective I think both home and away shirts are badly affected by the straight across the chest, very long sponsor's name. It makes the shirts look stretched before the player has even put it on. Could they not have used some imagination?

Sport
Pesa

Staggered over two lines, placed centrally would have looked much better in my opinion. The colours are insipid and wishy-washy and I agree with Alan at (#40). White shirts with black shorts would have been more striking and stand out when looking for someone to pass to on a murky afternoon.

We need to swerve these poor man's kits and get involved with Addidas. Best kits by a country mile.

And let's be honest, Umbro aren't exactly a desirable brand, especially when there as frigging drab as that grey one. Pathetic.

Brent (#18).

Sorry mate I wasn't having a go at you, just trying to mention Ashley running with a wok hidden under his shirt. I'm a perfect size 10 by the way!

With regard to the kit. Some guy did some concept ones on the net somewhere (can't remember as it was more than a day ago) and some of those were great!

Loved the green one until I realized the little emblem throughout was an anchor and not Rupert's tower.

Our transfer work is clearly looking forward – I'd argue that improvement this season will be limited for exactly that reason. Our investment has, with the exception of Rooney, all been in players between 18-24.

I don't see why Rooney and one other old senior ruins the majority of young players we have brought.

We could put out an under-25 team of:
Pickford
Kenny, Holgate, Keane, Galloway
Besic
Klaassen, Davies
Barkley Lookman
Sandro

With the likes of Onyekuru, Calvert-Lewin, Browning, Dowell and a string of youth prospects not making the cut. The success of Everton players in the Under-20s and Under-21s for England and in the Under-23s illustrates that we are well set for the future.

Ken and Dave.

I also noticed the likes of Kenny and Dowell are not listed in the 1st team squad, but I don't think it's anything to fret about. This is the Premier League ruling on U-21 players:

"Clubs are able to supplement their squads with unlimited additional [home grown - any nationality] players under the age of 21 on 1st January in the year in which the season commences."

Jonjoe will turn 21 in March 2018, Kieran 21 in October 2018, and of others I'm sure a few Blues would like to see a run out for the first team, Liam Walsh is 21 in September 2018 and Beni Baningime will only turn 20 in September 2018.

All those lads can be called into the 1st team squad at any time, over and above the core 25 players that have to be submitted to the Premier League before the season kick offs.

Doesn't necessarily signal any of them are more likely to be sent out on loan rather than feature for Everton next season. I think some of them will be needed and will get game time.

This kit looks cheap and poorly designed. There is nothing innovative, clever or eye catching about it. The club needs to bin whoever is designing or agreeing to the kit designs it's a shame, we'll be putting out our best team in a generation possibly in the worst kit in a generation.

Is it wrong when I would rather Everton players wear the kit pictured on the book cover next to the article than the garbage kit poor Super Kev has on?

For the record, I didn't like Newcastle's all grey kit from a couple of years ago either and believe it played a part in them getting relegated.

Neither white or grey, it has a 'Duluxe paint' feel of snowstorm off-white to it.

Everton and Umbro have dropped the ball on this seasons kit. I will purchase them, knowing they will eventually become vogue in 15 years time.

This season represents our best chance of silverware in sometime and we'll end up looking shite doing it.

I love it – especially as I can get 'Rooney' on the back for my son – and he just scored that goal in it! Déjà vu to his opener against the Arse.

I like the tower in the fabric... I like the overall light feel – I can wear that down the street with pride!

I didn't mind the kit on first viewing but thought it looked a little drab out on the pitch in Tanzania. Blue shorts needed I think.
